Hello Lovely Florida District,
I am writing you with regard to the position of Florida District Governor of Circle K International for the 2018-2019 year. Please consider the following letter a notice of my intent to run for this position.
Throughout my experience within the Kiwanis Family, I can wholeheartedly say that being a part of CKI has been my favorite. I walked into CKI three years ago, a shy, little freshman and now I have grown into an extroverted, enthusiastic, dedicated member and I owe it to this organization. It has given me a place to share my voice and my passion for serving others with such a wide audience. My CKI journey started in Fall of 2015, and after being in CKI for less than one semester, I decided that I wanted to devote my time in college to this organization and I applied to be the Relay for Life Committee chair and as a baby freshman, I joined the extensive UF CKI committee chair board. As I grew closer to my home club, I decided that I wanted to explore the rest of the district so even before my term as committee chair ended, I decided to run for Suwannee Lieutenant Governor. While on the 2016-2017 District Board, I was appointed the Sunbelt Liaison. With my position as a liaison for both my home division and another division, I got to explore our beautiful district and meet amazing servant leaders. I also got a better sense on how other clubs are organized and examples of resources that should be available to ensure growth and retention throughout our district. Within the Sunbelt division, I became actively involved with the chartering process with one of the clubs and I got to experience the exciting and terrifying experience of starting a new club from scratch, but during that time I learned so much about the support needed for newer and smaller clubs to become successful. I also spent a great deal of time learning the intricacies of the District Board and the duties required for holding an executive office.
My role as District Secretary this past year has definitely given me a lot of insight on exactly how each club in our division is doing. As secretary, my job was to keep records of all the activities each active club in our district competes and this data was very telling. I got to see firsthand how a club was doing and I spent a great deal of time brainstorming ways to make every club as active in their community as possible. The past two years as a District Board member has shown me how I would like my board to run, should I be elected and the types of resources I want to be made available to all clubs in order to increase the success of our district. CKI is my life and my greatest passion and I know that if I am given the chance, I can make this district the best it can be.
Yours in service and friendship,
Diamond Pichardo

To the Florida District of Circle K International,
I am writing this letter to you regarding the position of Florida District Secretary of
Circle K International for the 2018-2019 year. Please consider the following letter a
notice of my intent to run for this position.
My Name is Alex Perez and I currently serve as the Vice President for Tallahassee
Community College CKI. I am currently a sophomore and I am planning on
transferring to FSU at the beginning of Fall 2018. Currently, I have spent 6 years
with the Kiwanis Family. Four of those of years were in High School where I served
as my home club’s secretary for two years, and the Florida Key Club Division 25C
Lieutenant Governor for the remaining two years.
My first year in college, I served as my home CKI club’s secretary. With the help of
our president, Mariam McKee, we were able to boost membership and remove our
club from suspension. Once I moved in to my second year of college, I applied to
become a District Chair and ran for president of my home club. I was elected as my
club’s president and appointed by Governor Phoebe to serve as the Florida District’s
Conventions Chair. Because of my newfound passion for my District position, I
entrusted our Vice President, Derek Stewart, to take charge of our home club.
During my time as secretary, the Florida District began to see Tallahassee
Community College slowly work its way back on to the map. My successor,
Octavian Martin, now uses a template I have created to take meeting minutes, and
uses the knowledge of TCC’s online “Connect” system to properly keep track of all
community service hours completed by our members.
The time I have spent as secretary, working with Immediate Past District Secretary
Phoebe Sartori, and then building the relationship between current District
Secretary Diamond Pichardo and my home club, I believe has taught me how to
properly work with and encourage all future club secretaries. The passion I have
built for CKI and the people that I meet because of it, has encouraged me to
continue my pursuit of leadership in Circle K International.
With this, I believe my experience and passion within this organization over the
past two years will result in me being a successful District Secretary.
Sincerely,
Alex Perez

Hello everyone! My name is Jennifer Moscovitch, and I am running for your 2018-2019
District Secretary. Throughout the past eight years in the Kiwanis Family, I
always looked forward to joining CKI. With amazing leaders to look up to, I
knew CKI would become my second home and the place I would be comfortable
and able to grow into the type of leader I aspired to be. District Secretary
always stood out to me because it was one of the more “behind the scenes”
role, while also allowing me to make a greater impact on our amazing district. Throughout my term as Kiwanis Family Relation Chair, I have completed
many of the same duties that I will be tasked with as District Secretary.
As District Secretary, I plan to:
1. Increase communication and build relationships between secretariesthroughout the district using methods like the CKI Buddies program I piloted
this year. 2. Expand secretary interaction outside our district to increase international
interaction and activeness and retain clubs. 3. Increase MRF submissions through more simplified methods and club
feedback. 4. Increase our interaction with members of the Kiwanis Family through
increased communication to increase retention between the branches.
I hope everyone is having a great DCON! Please do not hesitate to talk to me or
ask me questions anytime this weekend. I cannot wait to get to know you!
Yours in Friendship and Service,
Jennifer Moscovitch
Dear Florida District,
My name is Jennifer Moscovitch, and I am officially announcing my candidacy for the
office of 2018-2019 Florida District of CKI District Secretary. I am a sophomore at the
University of Florida studying biology on the pre-medical track with a leadership minor. The
reason I mention this is for you to get a better understanding of my commitment to the
community. I serve and live through my heart; My goal is to spend my lifetime doing good and
helping others. I know I will always be a member of the Kiwanis Family, regardless of where my
life takes me.
I have spent the past year serving as the Kiwanis Family Relations Chair for the Florida
District. Throughout the past year on the District Board, I have been given the opportunity to
grow and lead differently than I ever have before. I learned how to be a facilitative team leader;
that means that I step in and step out according to the group’s needs, often assisting in
suggestions, inventions, and organizing programs. Before this, I only served in transformative
and participative leadership positions; these are the common “leader” leadership styles where
communication and democracy are in place. This past year has taught me to adapt my style based
upon the situation I was in. More importantly, it has taught me how important it is to be a
member and servant leader first.
My interactions with CKIers through conversations, initiatives, and service projects
throughout the district are what have helped to inspire me. It is because of this that I am asking
for the privilege, honor, and responsibility of serving as your next District Secretary. The role of
secretary requires a diligent, responsible, detail oriented, flexible, and understanding person.
Sometimes things happen that are beyond our control, and you need a District Secretary who will
help navigate you to a safe harbor. “You cannot control the wind, but you can adjust your sails.”
Let me be the one to help adjust the sails.
Yours in friendship and service,
Jennifer Moscovitch

Hello Florida District of Circle K International,
My name is Josephine Di Russo and I am seeking the position of District Secretary.
I have been a member of the Kiwanis Family for six years now. Being a former Key Clubber, when I started attending Lake-Sumter State College, I wanted to continue my path in service. I worked with faculty, staff, students, and the local Kiwanis family to charter a CKI club at Lake-Sumter and served as charter president my first year in college. Afterwards, I became Citrus Division Lieutenant Governor. Even though I have since transferred to the University of Central Florida, I still currently serve as Lieutenant Governor.
Being on the District Board this past year has been the best leadership experience I have ever had. Not only have I created various connections with individuals and attended various events, but I have also grown my skillset and understanding of it. My time on the District Board has shown me the intricacies of how the district functions and what the position of District Secretary entails. I am thus excited to have the opportunity to run for such a great leadership position.
As District Secretary, my main goals are to improve secretary performance by implementing a secretary reward system, to work with international to create a cohesive reporting form, and to create personal connections with secretaries throughout the district. I also intend to fulfill completely the basic duties of the position, such as creating board meeting minutes and agendas, maintaining the district mailing list, updating district data, and ensuring secretaries are well-trained.
I am excited to get to meet and talk with you this weekend and I look forward to serving you.
Sincerely,
Josephine Di Russo

DISTRICT TREASURER LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE
The last 4 years I spent within the Kiwanis family was filled with experiences which benefited my organizational and leadership skills. This past year serving as club president has been my most direct role of leadership within the Kiwanis family, it has assisted in preparing me for working hands on with the District Board and other clubs within the Florida District. I have had the opportunity to hone my skills on budgeting, planning and implementing events through my role as a club president and the External Relations Representative on the CKIx Planning Committee. Being an accounting major has allowed me to improve my adeptness in handling and allocating money through courses which highlight these areas.
WHAT I INTEND TO IMPROVE
The role of District Treasurer is one that far exceeds that of simply collecting dues and informing the clubs when it’s time to pay. One of my goals is to enhance the amount of money our district can fundraise through providing the clubs with effective fundraising plans they can use to raise money. Another goal is to expand our district’s membership, I plan do so by working heavily with the Membership Education and Retention chair in order to bolster the numbers of students in clubs throughout the year. The treasurer position should have a more hands on connection with recruiting new members, as treasurers fulfill an important role within a club by encouraging new members to get involved and be active by paying dues. I will be reaching out and connecting with the club treasurers of our district to provide education on how they can better reach new members

To Whom It May Concern
My name is Derek Stewart; I am a sophomore at Tallahassee Community College. I am running for the position of District Treasurer. I have been in the Kiwanis Family for 4 years now and I couldn’t be happier that I was led to this wonderful family.
When I went to college I moved eight hours away and was pretty much secluded. Luckily, I had been in Key Club and was enthusiastic about continuing in the Kiwanis Family, only to discover that Tallahassee Community College had been going through a rough patch since the club can only sustain the same members for two years. My spark for service only grew after seeing this which motivated me to increase my involvement in our organization. That passion drove me to action leading me to run for Club President and to apply for a position on the CKIx Planning Committee to help instill others with the same feeling of family I discovered.
As District Treasurer I hope to strengthen our District’s fundraising capabilities and put a major emphasis on club growth. I intend to do so by presenting the club treasurers with a fundraising booklet, etiquette workshop, tips to encourage new members, and reevaluate the District budget to ensure that the Florida Districts funds remains in the positive. I want to make the role of club treasurer a role of fellowship. As club treasurers have the most knowledge of where their club dues are going, they should be the ones who are the most driven to engage new members and make them motivated to join our wonderful organization. I plan to work alongside the Membership Development and Relations Chair for the upcoming year to integrate tips on encouraging new members to get involved and use those ideas to enhance the club treasurer’s capabilities.
Over this past year I have fostered my leadership skills through my club, division and through the CKIx Planning Committee. I believe that these skills can be easily incorporated with my strong ties of fellowship throughout the district to bolster our membership for the upcoming year and help our clubs grow even stronger both in membership as well as financially.

“The more strikingly visual your presentation is, the more people will remember it. And more importantly, they will remember you.” - Paul Arden
Increase Readership I believe the key to increasing readership is to promote club pride and highlight each club’s achievements. In each issue, one of the six divisions will have a special spotlight spread where the respective clubs can share their favorite memories and projects. I would contact each club’s editor and encourage them to compile
material and/or send their newsletter. Sections such as jokes, games, activities, throwbacks to Kiwanis history, and instructions to find helpful resource pages can also
be implemented.
Promote Fellowship & Inclusion Through a Facebook group, I want to facilitate a forum amongst all the editors in the district where they can
interact and ask for help. I also want to create a highlight video with each publication where members can contribute videos and photos from their meetings and events to a slideshow featuring clubs from all over
the district. Not only would the video be a great promotional and marketing tool, it would also be a compilation of our favorite memories with our CKI
family.
Facilitate Communication Using the principles of art and design in conjunction
with concise language, I want future issues of the Circle Kapers to be both visually appealing and informative. In addition, improving the quality of photos and the layout while adhering to the CKI graphics standards will add a
greater sense of professionalism to the publication.

Candidate for Florida District Editor January 26, 2018
Dear Florida District, My name is Valory Vailoces and I am currently a member of the University of
Central Florida’s CKI and I am seeking the position of Florida District Editor. My current role as the UCF CKI’s K-Family Relations Chair, I believe, has prepared me for this position. During my term, I have been able to foster stronger relationships between UCF CKI and our K-Family by implementing new partnerships and working on the beginnings of a new large-scale communication system between the K-family branches.
The District Editor is not only an important position because he/she publishes the Circle Kapers; the District Editor acts as a bridge between CKI, the K-Family, and the global community. The position requires someone with writing and design experience, but more importantly, the district needs an effective leader. I believe I can fill that role with my time management skills, organization, open-mindedness, and continuous pursuit for improvement. For the past eleven years, I have served the Kiwanis family in several capacities, from member to division service committee chair, but I hope that I can continue to serve my community in the honorable role of CKI District Editor.

Lovely Florida Circle K’ers,
I am seeking YOUR endorsement to run for the position of Subregion G International Trustee of Circle K International for the 2018-2019 service year. Please feel free to read this letter of intent to learn a little more about me, my qualifications, and my journey in the Kiwanis Family!
As a Freshman in high school six years ago, I walked into my first Key Club meeting without the slightest idea what the Kiwanis Family was- let alone that it would become the most important aspect of my life within years! Back in those Key Club days, after attending my first DCON and during my time as a two-term club president, I actively learned how to finesse my leadership abilities while mobilizing those around me to make a difference. I found a home.
Four years after I walked into that first Key Club meeting, I walked into my first CKI meeting at the University of Florida completely unaware of what was in store for me (sound familiar?). I was met with overwhelming enthusiasm- complete with music and clapping- friendly humans, and a wild amount of service projects. It was a familiar yet revamped Kiwanis Family feel, and I knew then that this was the place for me. LTC 2016 was my first event, which fueled a growing passion within me and spurred me to get more involved. I was soon appointed a Relay for Life Committee Chairperson for the UF CKI (shoutout to my co, Larkyn)! Together, we raised awareness and organized various fundraisers for the club to raise a record-breaking $2,800! The experience reaffirmed for me that, as a leader, teamwork is of the utmost importance.
It was during this tenure that I decided to run for Suwannee Division Lieutenant Governor, as a way to give back to the group that had quickly given me so much. As Lieutenant Governor… How do I even sum this up? I’ve met and worked alongside so many incredible, service-minded humans across the District, all while learning more about myself and this unique organization than I ever could have hoped for. Traveling around the state representing my Division and the District, and seeing the Suwannee Division grow to incorporate the University of North Florida, have been some of the most rewarding experiences of my young and tiny life.
I attended CKIx- our international convention- this past summer, and the experience opened my eyes again to the awesome nature of the world’s largest collegiate service organization. It was there that I learned about the WASH Project, and immediately knew that I wanted to be a part of that movement. In August I was appointed to the International Service Committee as a WASH Associate to help spearhead this new CKI global partnership with UNICEF; weekly virtual meetings and working alongside a slew of talented leaders have taught me so much about operating at the International level of CKI. I’ve travelled to the Georgia and Alabama Districts to spread WASH awareness, and in learning about the inner-workings of our sister districts while interacting with so many memorable humans I’ve decided that I want to do everything that I can to make the Circle K experience the best it can be for everyone in Subregion G.

Hello, Citrus!
I hope you all are having a great time at DCON. I am Matthew Grimmer, and I am hoping to serve as you Lieutenant Governor this upcoming year.
My experiences on UCF's club board as Kiwanis Family Relations Chair and President have helped me to grow my skills for working with others, problem solving, and communicating effectively. Also, my experience on a club board has given me the knowledge of what each officer's duties are. With this knowledge, I would easily be able to help out any officer that comes to me.
If you have any suggestions to improve our division or any changes you would like to see, please let me know. It would be my honor to serve as your Lieutenant Governor, Citrus.

My experience on my club's board has prepared me for this position by growing the skills to work in a team, to communicate effectively, and to problem solve. I am also knowledgeable on how a club functions and what each officer's duties are.
My goals for this upcoming year are to charter a club, offer a workshop/social for club officers, host a service project or social with my DCMs, communicate to clubs the different opportunities they have in the District or International, and to use social media to show case clubs in the division and to also communicate through it.
Yours in Service,
Matthew Grimmer

Palm Beach Atlantic University
Candidate for Evergold Division Lieutenant Governor
January 25, 2018
Florida District of Circle K,
My name is Maria Landron. I am the chartering president of the Circle K Club at Palm Beach Atlantic University, and it would be my honor to serve on the 2018-2019 District Board. I fell in love with the Kiwanis Family five years ago, when I joined Key Club. Being a member of the Kiwanis Family has completely shaped me into the person that I am today. During my high school years, I always looked up to CKI members and I knew that whatever university I decided to attend had to have a CKI. After realizing the school I set my heart on did not have one, I made it my mission to start a Circle K Club.
As a club president I was able to develop a passion for Circle K second to none, and spread that passion around campus. Becoming familiarized with the chartering process as well as conducting service projects and connecting with my local Kiwanis Family, are experienced circumstances that will allow me to effectively lead the Evergold Division if elected.
Throughout my journey in the Kiwanis Family, I found friendships that I know will last a lifetime. As a member of the District Board, I hope to inspire and support others in order to enhance their membership experience. I would love to support other individuals in their service journeys throughout our division, the Florida District, and Circle K International. Thank you for all you do.
A CKI’er in Service,
Maria Alejandra Landron
