Happy New Year to Wesleyan Village residents and friends. May
2018 be a year of blessings in your life and the life of your family.
Connie and I would like to thank you for the many Christmas greet-
ings, cards and gifts. You have been a blessing to both of us, thank
you.
What does 2018 hold for you individually and the Wesleyan Village
collectively? We don’t know, do we? However, there is One who
does know and He is the One we need to put our faith, trust and hope
in. We can make individual plans and plans for the Wesleyan Village
but all of our plans need to be bathed in prayer. I am requesting you
to be in prayer for the following items.
Camp Meeting 2018: January 16-21, pray for the speakers and
the worship leaders. Pray for those attending that our lives,
attitudes and outlook may be more like Christ.
Pray for the physical needs of the residents of the Wesleyan Vil-
lage. We have so many that need a divine touch.
Please pray as we search for a Dining Room Director to replace
Paul Beyer. We are thankful and appreciative of the work
which Paul has done and continues to do in the Dining Room.
Paul and Sharon feel the seven-month commitment is too long
for them to be away from their family and church. Paul met a
need and now we need to ask God to send us his replacement
for next year.
Please pray for the Board of Directors and the President for wis-
dom, God’s wisdom not man’s wisdom, as we plan for the fu-
ture.
Pray for travel mercies as winter residents continue to return to
the village.
Many of us may have children or grandchildren who need to
commit their lives to Christ. Let’s lift them in our individual
and collective prayers.
Again, may you have a blessed 2018. May we put our faith, hope and
trust in Him. Our prayer and benediction for you is 1 Timothy 1:17,
“Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor
and glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

munity for senior adults where resi-
dents can live in a safe, clean, whole-
some and attractive environment that
contributes to their spiritual, physical,
emotional, and relational wellbeing
THE FRIDAY DINING HALL EXPERIENCE Beautiful day, wonderful people, and great food. What a combination. Here is how it happened. People entered between the hours of 9 and 11 and made their way to the doors on the left to enter the serving line. The options that were presented could satisfy almost any palate. First, of course, was the biscuits and gravy, pancakes and scrambled eggs. Good solid down home choices. Then some grits for the southerners among us, followed by sausage links. There were two casseroles to choose from: Egg/Sausage Casserole and French Toast Casserole. Talk about good!! And if you were more inclined toward luncheon fare you could have a pulled pork sandwich and potato soup. But the food was only part of the Dining Hall Experience. The other major part was the people. Some people came alone to enjoy the food but they got much more. Instead of eating alone they had someone to share the table with. In some cases it was a friend or two, and in some cases new friendships were started. Some people came as couples and enjoyed sitting around the tables with new and old friends. It was good to see people en-joying themselves. In some cases there were people who planned on arriving at a particular time and sat to-gether to talk about their yesterday, prepare for the activities of the day and plan on the tomorrows that just seem to keep coming. So how about joining the Dining Hall Experience? Come and enjoy a meal, sip your coffee, visit with others, share a joke, and ease into the activities of the day in a very pleasant environment. A Satisfied Patron
HURRICANE IRMA REPORT Some one has said, “Tough times don’t last, but tough people do.” I guess one could say that Hurricane Irma brought out the toughness of many in Wesleyan Village. The damage and loss of homes, sheds, food, trees and a host of things came along to “test our mettle.” Reaction varied with each individual. Some have had to relocate due to the loss of their home, others relocat-ed while their residence was or is being repaired. Still others were able to prepare food from their freezers and share it with others and others lost all food in freezers and refrigerators. Action was taken with several to share generators to keep food from spoiling. After the storm volunteers and employees tackled the task of clean up. Tough People! Other toughness was shown by one giving the village $5000 to be matched by residents to be used to assist those with property damage. Toughness was demonstrated by villagers responding by exceeding the grant.
($ 7149.21 received as of date) With thanksgiving we PRAISE THE LORD for the gift and the givers!!!
Funds from this challenge have been distributed. Coming from those assisted are clips of their response ex-pressing their gratefulness of financial assistance: “… cannot adequately express our heartfelt appreciation for the monetary assistance to us due to our losses. We know that your decisions were carefully weighed and measured out.” “We are so very grateful for the generous gift you have given us. This will help immensely as we are finally moving forward in the restoration of our home. This money represents the kindness, caring and compassion so evident in this Christian community.” “I am overwhelmed by God’s goodness to me. Thank you more than my mere words can reflect. I am grateful for this wonderful and unexpected gift. It is an uncomfortable and challenging thing, to be in a place where you need to rely on others in one way or another. But I am learning to live more transparently and watch God’s pro-vision and faithfulness show up in delightful and surprising ways. He is good! (And so are all those who con-tributed to the hurricane fund.)” God has said, “ When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you. For I am the Lord your God.” Isaiah 42:2-3a (NASB)
DEDICATION On November 30, 2017, a group of Village residents, led by President Donald Maness, gathered outside the newly com-pleted office and maintenance buildings in Ken Herr Memorial Garden to dedicate the three facilities. Program partici-pants were Mrs. Nancy Herr, Mr. Art Herr (Brother), Mr. Carl Unger, Rev. Keith Drury and Mrs. James Staley. Mr. Claude Hills, not pictured, was the project manager.

The construction of the building was made possible as a portion of the capital fund campaign, “Strength For Today,
Bright Hope For Tomorrow.” The campaign was begun during the tenure of Dr. Ken Herr and completed by the present
President, Donald Maness. Our “Thanks” to those having contributed to the campaign.
