Pre-hospital Track• Understand management approaches and associated
complications to the most commonly ingested foreign
bodies in children.
• Describe current state of Colorado's EMS and trauma system.
• Define policy updates including recent rule revisions and
how those revisions affect the EMS/trauma system.

engagements for current policy work/rule revision while
answering questions related to Colorado's EMTS system.
• Describe emotional reactions that people exhibit during
crisis situations and identify verbal communication techniques
to use in crisis situations.

with honoring yourself.
• Skill stations to include: Airway, IO, Rapid Trauma Assessment,
Case Study Reviews.

AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE EVENT PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ABLE TO:Hospital Track• Discuss current and innovative trends as it relates to the trauma patient.
• Discuss current standard of care and principles of damage control utilizing Massive Transfusion Protocols in trauma while applying novel coagulation testing at the point of care to optimize transfusion strategy.
• Identify and evaluate Spinal Cord Injuries to determine operative and non- operative treatment options. Describe post-operative and post-injury management of Spinal Cord Injury to include utilization of Exoskeletons during rehabilitation.
• Identify indications for performing damage control laparotomy, discuss surgical techniques utilized, and describe postoperative management.
• Review and discuss ED and surgical management of a severely injured patient, including ethical issues that arise.
• Discuss current treatment and evolving practice related to ICU manage- ment of the multi-trauma patient to include Identification and manage- ment of ARDS and ALI in the trauma patient.
• Identify forensic practices that will deliver safe, quality patient care and positively impact legal outcomes.
• Discuss ways to improve the care of the trauma patient by establishing and utilizing evidence based practice and research to ensure the patient has an optimal outcome.
