PER MAR YEAR IN REVIEW 2

As I look back on 2018, I have to say that it was “one for the books.” Per Mar showed tremendous growth…not only financially, but also in a variety of ways that bring even greater pride and renewed commitment as we strive to live out our corporate mission. As has always been the case, we expect employees to simply do the right thing — whether dealing with customers, co-workers or the general public. Thank you to our employees who understand this simple message, and strive to live it. This provides a framework that has served us well for the past 65 years, and I feel certain that it will continue to serve us well in the years to come.

Looking down the road, a continued emphasis on training, enhanced job opportunities and outstanding customer service will keep us in a leadership position within the security industry. Our senior team members are tasked with developing the security and technical professionals necessary to meet today’s needs while working to identify tomorrow’s company leaders. At this point in my career, there are few things I enjoy more than watching a dedicated employee as he/she develops into a stronger security and life safety professional.

In addition to our dedicated employees, there are a few other groups that I simply must thank for their contributions during 2018. First, I’d like to thank our customers — they make all things possible. They are the reason for our very existence…and may we never forget it! Second, I’d like to thank those businesses that chose to merge and become a part of the Per Mar team this past year. We appreciate the confidence you showed in us when you placed your customers in the care of our company. Last but certainly not least, I’d like to thank our external Advisory Board members. These business experts possess a diverse set of business experiences that provide invaluable (and occasionally even thorny) advice. Above all, they do a great job of keeping us focused.

As we dive into 2019, may we always be ready to “meet the challenge” as new opportunities present themselves. May we always do our best to provide high-quality service in the communities that we are honored to serve. And may we always remember to simply do the right thing.

Respectfully Yours,

Michael Duffy, CEO/Chairman

3 PER MAR YEAR IN REVIEW

No business can survive for 65 years without a combination of hard work and good fortune. Celebrating our anniversary in 2018 has given us a tremendous opportunity to reflect on what brought us this far, and review our strategies to ensure they are the right ones to move us forward.

In 1953, our grandparents started Per Mar as a private investigations firm. Then in 1959, they expanded to manned guarding. In 1968, the company built a Monitoring Center due to fear that technological advances would make the security officer business extinct.

The opposite happened. We have embraced technological advances and continued to put employees and customers at the center of our business. Our Security Officer Division is thriving, and our Monitoring Center is one of the top in the country. Today, we are the largest family-owned, full-service security company in the Midwest offering diverse services to homes and businesses, including security officer services, investigative services, burglar and fire alarms and smart home automation. We also have a specialized fire alarm design and installation company, Midwest Alarm Services.

The buzz, and fear, in each of our industries is around the pace of technological change. While providing the right technology to our customers and employees is essential, 2018 has reaffirmed for us the best way to run our company is based on values.

Our promise, to our customers and employees, is simple. We have three overarching priorities, in this order:

• Great Place to Work

• Excellent Customer Experience

• Quality Growth

We have seen the success of this approach inside of our operations — taking care of our people leads to happy customers, which leads to excellent results for the company.

Thank you to the many people and organizations that contributed to another great year for us at Per Mar. We will work to improve for the betterment of our many communities in 2019 and beyond.

Brian Duffy, Chief Operating OfficerBrad Duffy, President of the Security Officer Division

CUSTOMER OF THE YEAR • SECURITY OFFICER OF THE YEAR

Grain Processing Corporation was named Per Mar’s Customer of the Year for exhibiting the traits of a strong security partner. Per Mar has been the security and pre-employment screenings provider for Grain Processing Corporation since 2002 as well as their life safety provider, monitoring their fire alarms, since 2004. As Grain Processing Corporation has grown and evolved, Per Mar has adapted to fit their needs.

Brian Duffy, COO of Per Mar, presented the award to Patrick Homoelle, President of Grain Processing Corporation, at Per Mar’s Annual Sales Kick-off Meeting. Kevin Garrison, Director-Safety Division for Grain Processing Corporation, said “For over 15 years, Per Mar has provided us quality security services. Grain Processing Corporation and Per Mar have an outstanding relationship. This partnership couldn’t have happened without the professional security officers and support staff that Per Mar attracted and placed at our site. Professionalism, integrity and customer service are all exhibited by the Per Mar security staff.

When finding out that Grain Processing Corporation was named Customer of the Year, we were both honored and humbled. Honored to be recognized by our partner in site security and humbled that were worthy of being chosen out of all of Per Mar’s customers. We feel truly blessed to be able to partner with a security company that shares the same values as Grain Processing Corporation. This has been, and continues to be, a very good partnership.”

GRAIN PROCESSING CORPORATION CUSTOMER OF THE YEAR

“Grain Processing Corporation is an Iowa based business that has seen substantial growth. Per Mar is fortunate to have worked with Grain Processing Corporation for over 15 years providing multiple services, and we look forward

to continuing our partnership as their needs evolve.”

Brian Duffy, COO of Per Mar

Steven Canada was named Per Mar’s 2018 Security Officer of the Year. The award recognizes a Per Mar Security Officer who has demonstrated excellence in providing security services to a Per Mar customer. Security Officer Canada has consistently been an attentive and thorough security officer, and on the night of November, 22, 2018, he went above and beyond to keep a client’s campus secure. While patrolling, Security Officer Canada witnessed three individuals checking multiple vehicle door handles. He immediately reported the suspicious activity to the police. The police quickly responded, and Security Officer Canada assisted with the investigation. The investigation led to the capture of three individuals who were attempting to break into

students’ vehicles. Brad Duffy, President of the Security Officer Division, presented the award to Security Officer Canada saying, “Security Officer Canada has displayed and demonstrated Per Mar values in his work in particular in going above and beyond to prevent vehicle theft, and keep our client’s campus secure. We are very thankful for his effort and quick thinking.”

PAWS FOR THE CAUSE

Per Mar was the security sponsor for 92.9 The X Scorch’s Paws for the Cause event in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. DJ Scorch spent six days in a dog cage outside of Milwaukee Burger Company to raise money for local Police Departments’ K-9 units and Humane Associations in the Chippewa Valley. Seven pets were adopted and $22,000 was raised!

Per Mar set up security cameras so that Scorch was monitored around the clock, and had a live video feed on 92.9’s website. Each night a Per Mar team member sat with Scorch. In addition, Sales Consultant Pat Duffenbach joined Scorch in a dog cage for a couple of hours to help raise funds.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

MAKING A DIFFERENCEThe service we provide our customers makes a difference in their everyday lives by providing peace of mind and minimizing their risk of losing lives or property. In July of 2018, Per Mar launched the Making a Difference Program to celebrate those instances where our team and solutions deliver excellent service to mitigate a specific threat to a customer.

THANK YOU FOR MAKING A DIFFERENCE!

JULYKent Geppert, Security Officer

Security Officer Kent Geppert was on duty at a customer’s site in Des Moines, Iowa, when an employee was feeling ill. He recognized that the employee was experiencing diabetic and cardiac issues, and called for an

ambulance. He then began administering stabilizing treatments, as he is also a trained EMT. The employee credits him with being instrumental in saving his life.

AUGUSTDana Cox, Monitoring Center Agent

On June 19, we received a supervisory alarm from a home in Madison, Wisconsin. Within two minutes, Dana Cox called to notify the customer. The customer called back to thank

us as his sump pump had failed in his basement, and he could have had costly water damage in his home. He was very grateful for our service and equipment working exactly as intended, as it has saved his property multiple times.

SEPTEMBER

Steve Herborn, Sales Consultant

Chance Waterman, Technician

Jennifer Saldana, Installation Coordinator

Ryan Ross, Material Handler

A Des Moines, Iowa, homeowner requested a security quote online after he had a break-in at his home. Time was of the essence, so Steve Herborn was able to adjust his schedule to meet with him. With the help of Ryan Ross, who quickly ordered parts, and Jenn Saldana, who was able to work him into the installation schedule, Chance Waterman was able to complete the install and the customer had a monitored system within a week. The customer had another break-in following installation. The system worked, and the intruder ran right out at the sound of the alarm.

“We are fortunate to work in an industry where our actions truly make a difference to the security and life

safety of our customers, and I love being able to tell the stories that really demonstrate that.”

He quickly notified the school resource officer and security staff management to get assistance en route. Lead Security Officer Gary Rivers arrived early and was actively patrolling the grounds in a security vehicle. Security Officer Michael Jones ushered the victims and witnesses into a room and stayed with them until the police officers arrived. Security Officer Stacy Vagos stayed and comforted the daughter while her mother was being interviewed by the police officers. Security Officer Ali Al-Obaibi assisted in the facilitating of tasks and remained attentive at the front door while multi-tasking his assignments. Our security officers were commended for their courageous response as a team to prevent a loss of property from possibly becoming much worse.

OCTOBERLaShawnica Tatum, Monitoring Center Agent

A residential customer in Davenport, Iowa, had a burglar alarm at 15:00:49 on October 19. LaShawnica Tatum called on the alarm and spoke with the customer by 15:01:08. She was

so thankful for our call to make sure everything was ok. She wanted Per Mar to know she truly appreciates Tatum and all of our staff, saying they are always courteous and calm. She feels very safe with Per Mar protecting her.

NOVEMBER

Tony Cervantes, Technician

Sylvia Gunter, Service Dispatcher

On the evening of November 26, a grocery store in Beloit, Wisconsin, experienced a break-in and robbery. The manager called us right away the next morning to request service to check the system and add additional protection. Sylvia Gunter rearranged Tony Cervantes's schedule and sent him out first thing. Tony was able to install wireless contacts on the roof hatch and trash compactor door, where it had been determined the

robber had entered and exited, along with motion detection in the warehouse. The burglar returned three days later, tripped the motion detector alarm and we dispatched authorities. The police arrived with search dogs and the suspect was found in the ventilation ducts. The manager called to thank us for the immediate service, the additional protection solution and being able to install that same day.

CASE STUDY: MERCY MEDICAL CENTER

Mercy Medical Center needed a cohesive yet flexible security solution that would meet a variety of needs at multiple locations, and they needed to retain a quality workforce in the process. They also wanted to find out how cost effective their provider at the time was. The key area of focus was not only online security but also patient-sitting in areas where behavior was becoming a greater concern. A secondary challenge was procuring consolidated services with a single vendor.

CASE STUDY: MERCY MEDICAL CENTER

THE SOLUTION

Mercy Medical Center chose Per Mar due to their stellar reputation, experience and cost-effective solutions. Per Mar’s diverse security officer operations allowed Mercy Medical Center the physical presence needed for day-to-day operations, plus their unique requirements in the behavioral health areas of the hospital. Now, Mercy Medical Center is able to offer security officer services in three key areas:

• Security officers to augment their 3rd shift and 24-hour patrol operation.

• Security officers administer Mercy’s visitor control policy at two locations from 9pm to 5am.

• Security officers serve as patient sitters.

They also added Per Mar monitored fire alarm services after an in-depth look. This has allowed them to further streamline and consolidate their life safety operations. Mercy also has a Per Mar monitored security system at its rehab facility.

Lastly, Mercy Medical Center recognizes and motivates security officers as part of their initiative to retain a quality workforce. The recognition program, “Mercy Lives Up”, rewards security officers who create a remarkable Mercy experience.

The result is a relationship that has soared. “Having an excellent relationship is critical at accounts where we work side by side with the proprietary officers,” said Randy Mulder, Per Mar’s General Manager of Security Officer Services in Des Moines, Iowa.

THE SIGNIFICANCE

Safety for staff, patients, visitors and vendors in a hospital setting is not to be underestimated. Risks can quickly go from controlled to rampant if proper measures are not implemented and engaged during a crisis.

In one incident, Security Officer Austin Skiles was recognized for his help in rescuing a drowning patient from the Mercy wellness swimming pool. She was having a seizure and a nearby doctor was unable to retrieve her from the water by himself. Recognition was given by Mercy Medical Center’s House Supervisor, Jill A. Huygens, and Mercy Medical Center's President, Bob Ritz, via their Security Officer Recognition Program. He was also recognized as Per Mar’s Security Officer of the Year in 2017.

Mercy Medical Center is now able to have peace of mind and fewer security vendors while being cost effective. The symbiotic relationship only adds to the list of benefits.

“Our Mercy staff has witnessed the professionalism and compassion that all the security officers display. They

recognize the officers on a weekly basis for the job they do on our safety call and personally to me.”

Ted Wright, Manager of Public Safety, Mercy Medical Center

“This is what we mean when we say our staff 'Lives Up'. Incredible story!”
