This year, we invited our friends, benefactors and lay collaborators to join in celebrating 200 years of Vincentian service and the start of a third century of faith. The response was overwhelming! Dedicated people from throughout the United States have offered their prayers and financial gifts to enliven and expand our mission – the mission of St. Vincent – to evangelize the poor.

This year, your gifts touched the lives of those we serve by helping to:

• Provide direct service to the poor in the United States

• Establish the Welcome the Stranger program in Kenya

• Enable care to our senior Vincentian priests and brothers

• Educate and form priests, brothers and seminarians

CELEBRATING 200 YEARS OF SERVICE

Our Walking with the Poor campaign was successfully concluded on June 30, 2018, surpassing our goal by 52 percent and receiving gifts and bequests of more than $1.5 million. The generosity of so many friends and collaborators will help sustain schools in Kenya and direct services to the poor in the United States.

Your support has helped build Catholic schools in Kenya, reaching students at St. Vincent’s in Kamulu, St. Kizito in the Falkland Slum and St. Anne’s in Thigio. Your generosity helped cover construction, furnishings and the necessary supplies to stock the schools.

Your support of the campaign helped provide direct service to the poor in the United States through parishes, outreach centers, retreat centers and schools. Your participation in the campaign enabled us to expand our reach and broaden the scope of our mission to evangelize the poor. The Western Province plans to sustain the Walking with the Poor program with an annual commitment of $100,000.

St. Vincent lived with a passion for the poor. His passion went well beyond concern. Vincent encouraged his followers to draw close to the poor, live with them, walk with them every step of the way. In this way, he proclaimed, we meet Christ in them and we are evangelized by them. We are grateful to all those who participated for their sacrificial generosity and passion for our mission and ministries. Thank you for walking with us and the poor we serve.
