FROSTBURG MARYLAND 2018 SERVICES & EVENTS LOCAL EVENTS WELCOME TO FROSTBURG... WHAT BEGAN as a tiny mining town and a stagecoach stop along the National Road, the nation’s oldest highway, Frostburg has grown to become a modern and diverse community. Home to Frostburg State University and nicknamed the “Mountain City,” Frostburg boasts a bustling Main Street fittingly located up the hill from the Great Allegheny Passage trail. Nestled in the Maryland Mountains, the area is rich in Appalachian heritage and is known for its vivid autumn foliage, snowy white winters, a vibrant spring, and cool summers. Frostburg is a designated Maryland Arts and Entertainment District, which includes several galleries, Mountain City Traditional Arts, General Art Store, the historic Palace Theatre and the Frostburg Museum. We also have many historic buildings that house unique businesses. The town has been listed on the National Register of Historic places and named a “Maryland Main Street Community.” Frostburg is a community where you will find locally grown foods served in our finest restaurants, and you will have the opportunity to interact with the spirit of the town and the people that live here! GROW WITH US as we prosper through our resilience and ingenuity in an area that has changed dramatically. PLAY WITH US in one of America’s most beautiful and expansive natural recreation areas. STAY WITH US and experience the sights, sounds, and unique culture of the region. Check out the Historic Hotel Gunter, The Trail Inn, Charlie’s Motel or the Frostburg Inn. We are a unique community that connects the dots among Frostburg State University, Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, the Great Allegheny Passage, I-68, and the charm and serenity of our town.
