Gift of the MonthGift of the Month - April 2018 Donor information: Mike and Jane McLain Location: Atlanta, Georgia Development Officer: Lindsay Carter-Tidwell Gift Details: $200,000 pledge payable over 5 years to support UF Health ProtonTherapy Institute

Mike and Jane McLain are from Atlanta, Georgia. This couple was brought to ourattention through a referral by Dr. Nancy Mendenhall (Professor and Associate Chair,UF Radiation Oncology and Medical Director, UFHPTI) in October 2017. Dr. Mendenhallnotified me that one of her patients had expressed interest in learning more about ways to support the Institute.

I initially met with Mike one-on-one to learn more about his interests and to gain a better understanding of overall impact he and hiswife wished to have at Proton. This meeting led to a subsequent meeting where the McLains met with Dr. Mendenhall, Dr. DannyIndelicato (Associate Professor, UF Radiation Oncology) and Stuart Klein (Executive Director) to discuss in greater detail prioritiesand needs as it related to research, pediatrics and the facility upgrade and expansion project. In concluding the meeting, theMcLains were presented with a customized menu of funding options I prepared reflecting several opportunities in each of the threeareas discussed.

Several conversations via email and phone followed, and Dean Good carved out some time to meet the McLains while inJacksonville to thank them for their consideration of a gift to support Proton.
