YOUTH ACTIVITIES
Summer Fun at Highland Park Summer Fun is an 7 week program designed for children ages 5-12 and will include a variety
of fun weekly themed activities. Activities may vary.
Week 1 July 2-July 6 Warmth of the Sun No Camp July 4 Enjoy the warmth of the sun and the feel of the water just like at the beach - Right at Highland Park! We’ll spend plenty of time in the pool!
Week 2 July 9-July 13 Let’s play a Game Join in on a life sized game of Hungry Hippo. Play Twister and all of your other family favorites!
Week 3 July 16-July 20 Olympics Go for the gold! Or Silver. Or Bronze. However you place, enjoy the physical activities that keep your body moving.
Week 4 July 23-July 27 Star Wars Grab your light saber and join in the fight against Darth Vader and the Storm Troopers. May the force be with you. (Limit 140 campers this week)
Week 5 July 30-August 3 Science is Knowledge Learn about the weather from a local meteorologist! Watch what happens when a volcano erupts!
Week 6 August 6-August 10 Every day’s a Holiday Enjoy a year’s worth of holidays all in one week! Visit with Santa and the Easter Bunny.
Week 7 August 13-August 17 Say it isn’t over Summer Celebration Join us for a talent show featuring you and your counselors. Eat popcorn and cotton candy at a Summer carnival!
There will be a fun field trip every week. Swim every afternoon! Themed Trivia & challenges every week!
The children will be grouped according to age and assigned to counselors who will oversee the various groups. If you plan to attend all day, a free lunch will be provided by the UE School District Summer Lunch Program. If you prefer, you can send a lunch and snack with your child. Supervision is provided during the lunch hour.

There will be an open orientation on Monday, June 25 at 6:00 p.m. at the Rec Center at Highland Park. This is a great opportunity to meet the Counselors and Camp Director. See first hand the fun that will be had by all!

Junior Golf Lessons Dates: Saturdays, June 30, July 7, 14, & 21 Ages & Beginners, boys & girls 6-17 years Time: 12:00-1:00 p.m. Intermediate boys & girls 10-17 years 1:30-2:30 p.m. Site: Ely Park Golf Course 67 Ridge St., Binnghamton Fees: $50.00 Resident $60.00 Non-Resident Get your swing in shape for the golf season with lessons from AJ Majewski at Ely Park Golf Course, 67 Ridge St., Binghamton. The lessons will cover all aspects of the game including full swing, chipping, putting and rules and etiquette.
Junior Golf Camp
Dates: Monday-Thursday, July 9-12 Ages: 5-17 years, boys & girls Time : 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Site: Endwell Greens Golf Club Junior Course Fee: $60.00 Resident $70.00 Non-Resident Golf Pro Joe Mars at Endwell Greens, 3675 Sally Piper Rd., Endwell, will be instructing students on: Safety & Rules, Putting, Short Game, Irons, Driving, Etiquette and Course Management. If clubs are needed, please call Joe at 785-4653. The session will conclude with a Mini-Tournament.
Dance Camp
Dates: Monday-Friday, June 11-15 Ages: 5-10 years Time: 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Site: Recreation Center at Highland Park Fees: $40.00 Resident $50.00 Non-Resident
In this camp, dancers will learn the basics of stretching, ballet, jazz and lyrical dance in a fun, safe environment. There will be a performance for parents at the end of the week.
Dance instruction will be given by Brooke and Paige Pow-ell. Paige has been dancing for 19 years, and Brooke for 17 years. They are both trained in tap, jazz, lyrical, con-temporary, ballet and hip-hop. They have been in competi-tive dance for more than 15 years.
Youth Volleyball Camps
Dates: Monday-Thursday, August 13-August 16 Site: Gymnasium at Highland Park Hooper Rd., Endwell Fee: $45.00 Resident $55.00 Non-Resident
Beginners Ages: 7-10 years (Entering 3-5 grades) Time: 6:00-7:15 p.m.
The Beginner’s Volleyball Camp will give new and interest-ed players an introduction to the exciting game of volleyball. Each session consists of learning the basic techniques in setting, passing, serving and positional play. This camp is strictly for learning and having fun playing volleyball.
Intermediate Ages: 11-13 years (Entering 6-8 grades) Time: 7:30-8:45 p.m.
This camp is designed for students who are planning to try out for a Modified team either this fall or next fall. A former JV / Modified coach will run the camp with the focus being on preparing students for tryouts. Each session consists of learning the basic techniques in setting, passing, serving and spiking. Additionally, campers will learn a basic offense and the importance of strong defense. each session will conclude with a short period of game play. Players should expect to work hard in this camp as it will run like a Modified practice.
Join Miss Erin from the GFJ Library! Children ages 2-5 and their caregivers will enjoy stories, music, activities, crafts and more! This program is free and open to the public.

Our Co-ed Fall Soccer League is designed for beginner and intermediate players. No experience is necessary. The leagues cover both individual and team skills. All basic soccer skills, such as passing, dribbling, shooting and teamwork, are covered. Players will also learn about the game rules as well as focusing on good sportsmanship, learning and on HAVING FUN!
Session time is split 50-50 between skill building through drills and controlled games (no scores are kept).
We are looking for volunteer coaches to assist with this program. (See form below.)

Cheerleading Pre-Season at the Park!
Pre-Season at the Park is recommended for new and current cheerleaders. The focus of this cheerleading camp is to prepare athletes for their upcoming season or to spark new interest in the sport. Each session is de-signed to accommodate the ability level of every cheer-leader. The sessions include strength-cardio condition-ing, arm motion drills, jump drills, mat time (tumbling/stunting) and games! Please keep in mind the program will be closed to grown-ups and athletes MUST wear sneakers in order to participate.

Registrations will be accepted beginning May 7 either by mail or placed in the drop box. Registra-tion closes one (1) week prior to start date unless otherwise noted. Programs may close before the registration period ends due to high enrollment. A $30.00 late registration fee will be charged where applicable*.
Registration received prior to May 7 will not be processed until after the first day of registration. Town of Union residents have first priority in all
classes and activities. After resident forms are
processed, and if openings are available, non-resident forms will be processed. A surcharge will be added per person per activity for all non-residents. For adult team registrations, one half of members must be Town of Union residents.
Registrations will be processed in the following order: Day 1- mail, drop box, early registration.Succeeding days - mail, drop box. Non-Resident registrations will be processed after the first week. Registrations will be returned if not filled out completely with correct information or if payment is
insufficient or lacking. Registrations will not be accepted at a program site.
Refunds will be made only by written request twoweeks prior to the start of a program. Individual requests for placement on a specific team will not be honored. An individual must be the required age indicated in the flyer by the time the program begins.
Financial Assistance is available for some youth programs as part of our fee policy. For qualification requirements and complete information, call or stop by the main office. This applies to Town of Union residents only. Individuals with disabilities that require certain accommodations may contact the Parks & Recreation Office. There will be a $15.00 surcharge for returned checks.

SUMMER FUN VOLUNTEER APPLICATION
The Town of Union Parks & Recreation Department is looking for Teen Volunteers ages 15 and up for our Summer Fun program. You will be contacted for an interview.
Summer Fun is an seven week Summer Camp for children ages 5-12 years. Each week offers children the opportunity to play games, swim, play on the playground and do arts & crafts relating to a fun theme.
The program begins July 2 and runs through August 17, Monday-Friday, at Highland Park. There is a morning session from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., an afternoon session from 1:00-4:00 p.m. and a full day session from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
