Dear Fairview Families, We are almost done with another fantastic year! I want to say a special thank you to our parent volunteers that put on a great Day of the Child celebration. All the students enjoyed hitting those pinatas and receiving candy at the end of the day. Thank you to everyone that donated their time, or treats to make the day so special. We are all finished with CMAS testing for our intermediate students. I am confi- dent that the studentspreparation and hard work will end with positive results. This month we will assess all students in reading and math. Be sure to ask your student what their goals are for end of year assessments! There are several end of year events in the month of May. Please pay very close attention to the calendar this month! Warm Regards, Camile Carlson Principal 2018

Dear Fairview Families,

We are almost done with another fantastic year!

I am confi-dent that the students’ preparation and hard work will end with positive results. This month we will assess all students in reading and math. Be sure to ask your student what their goals are for end of year assessments! There are several end of year events in the month of May. Please pay very close attention to the calendar this month!

Saludos Afectuosos,

Camile Carlson

REGISTRATION HELP SESSION

We are holding a registration help session for families on Thursday, May 10th from 4:00—6:00pm in the gym. If you have not yet registered your student(s) for the 2018-2019 school year, please take advantage of this ses-sion. All students must be re-registered before starting school next year. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the main office at 303-428-1405.

5TH GRADE VISIT TO RANUM MIDDLE SCHOOL The 5th grade visit to Ranum Middle School is scheduled for Monday, May 7th during school hours 9:-00-11:00 am

LOST AND FOUND

The lost and found is overflowing with coats, gloves, and other miscellaneous items students have left here at school. Please encourage your students(s) to go through the items or feel free to visit our lost and found before or after school. These items will be donated in the next few weeks if not claimed.

RESPECTING NEIGHBORS’ PROPERTY

We ask that you please discuss the importance of respecting neighbor’s property with your students. Our neighbors take great pride in their yards and we want to help keep their yards in tip-top shape. Unfortunately, recently we have received some complaints about students walking home and damaging prop-erty, but hope that a talk from parent will help. Thank you!

Summer shouldn't mean taking a break from learning, especially reading. Studies show that most students ex-perience a loss of reading skills over the summer months, but children who continue to read and speak will gain skills.

Tip for Parents:

1. Read aloud together with your child every day in your first language or in English-Make it fun by reading outdoors on the front steps, patio, or park. Also, let your children read to you. For younger children, point out the relationship between words and sounds.

2. Take your children to the library regularly-Most libraries sponsor summer reading clubs with easy-to-reach goals for preschool and school-age children. Check the library calendar for special summer reading activities and events. Libraries also provide age appropriate lists for summer reading.

3. Make trips a way to encourage reading by reading aloud traffic signs, billboards, notices-Show your chil-dren how to read a map, and once you are on the road, let them take turns being the navigator.

4. Encourage children to keep a summer scrapbook-Tape in souvenirs of your family's summer activities, pic-ture postcards, ticket stubs, photos. Have your children write the captions and read them aloud as you look at the book together
