NEW LIFE NEWSLETTER
Greetings from Pastor Mary,
"Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi,
he asked his disciples:
“Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”
And they said:
“Some say John the Baptist, but others Elijah, and still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
He said to them:
“But who do you say that I am?”
Simon Peter answered:
“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
And Jesus answered him:
“Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah!
For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father in heaven.”
[Gospel of Matthew 16:13-17 ]
The Season of Lent is nearly here!
Lent is the season when we prepare spiritually for Easter. On Easter the church celebrates the resurrection of the man, Jesus of Nazareth. The resurrection is the event that confirms the true
identity of this man, Jesus, as the Son of God and as our Lord and Savior.
The work of Christ’s saving activity is not, however, limited to his resurrection. There are many ways in which the man—Jesus—touched those, whom he encountered. There are many ways in
which Jesus continues to touch us and continues to redeem our lives each and every day.
This Season of Lent, we will be looking at the many faces of Jesus. Looking at the man through the
eyes of his contemporaries, through the eyes of the church, and through our own eyes. Come join
us in looking into the eyes of Jesus … face to face!

Contagious Christians
Thursdays: 11:00 am – NOON
Have you ever thought of Christian faith as something that is contagious? Rather like a disease that you catch? What would it take for your faith to become contagious, so that other people actually wanted to be caught by God? On Thursdays our Prayer Group continues to study what it means to be Contagious Christians. Come join with us and find out!
Thursday Prayer/Study Group
Spark House All Kids program continues with studies from the Old Testament. The children meet at 11:45 AM, following the Sunday worship service. All are encouraged to attend.
CHRISTIAN: It’s Not What You Think
Mondays: 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
The group just began this new study on February 11 and we have room for more! Instead of calling his followers Christians, Jesus used the word ‘disciple’ to describe his supporters, who were know for their love. Through eight engaging and enlightening sessions, we will listen to best-selling author and pastor, Andy Stanley, unpack the qualities Jesus prescribes for his followers that made them unique. What if believers today embodied these traits? Would the non-believing world put aside its definition of ‘Christian’ and instead know us by our love? Explore this question and more as we challenge what you think!

CHRISTIAN: It’s Not What You Think
Thursdays: 6:00 pm
Have you ever stopped to wonder what it means to be Christian? Curiously, the term is never used in Scripture. Instead, Christian was a label used by outsiders to define Jesus’ followers. Jesus referenced ‘disciple’ as the key word he used to describe his supporters along with the fact that they would be known for their love – a novel concept for their time – and ours today.
Explore this question and more with us Thursday evenings at 6:00 pm as we share soup, break bread and challenge what you think!
