2019 2020 Boys Zone 1 Report

Zone 1 consists of the Detroit Public School League and the Macomb Area Conference. The MAC is made up of teams from Macomb and St. Clair Counties as well as Grosse Pointe North and Grosse Pointe South from Wayne County.

The Zone 1 Dream Team is made up of the top athlete(s) in each event for the MAC and Detroit PSL.

1. Detroit Cass Technical, 170

The Technicians used their strong depth to win their second-straight Detroit Public School League boys swimming championship, taking home six individual championships. Cass Technical freshman Angel Cardiel-Nunez earned Swimmer of the Meet, winning the 100-yard butterfly and the 200-yard individual medley, and being part of Cass Tech's winning 200-yard medley relay team and their winning 200-yard freestyle relay team. Cass Tech's Ja'Von Waters Sr. was named PSL boys coach of the year.

The 2019-2020 Boy’s Zone 1 Coach of the Year – Dave Smith (Dakota High School)

This was a tough year for all our athletes, coaches and parents. There were many athletes that were prepared for their best races at the MHSAA State Finals Meets. Our hearts go out to all the athletes, but especially the seniors that missed out on their final races of their high school careers.
