Shane Lallkissoon
A message to the recipient from “Get After It” Wrestling Scholarship:
No matter how many years you’ve wrestled so far, or how many you will wrestle in the future, your
time wrestling at MHS will always stick with you. Your coaches and teammates not only put in the
physical work right beside you every single day, but they have also shaped you into a better
person. Every drill, every step of conditioning, and every time you were pushed to what you
thought was beyond your limits wasn’t just to prepare you for a match. It was to prepare you for
what you will face after you step off of the mat. It was to prepare you for life. Take the mental
toughness that you have been taught and apply it to everything you do -- your classes in college,
your career, and your ambitions. The hard work is only just beginning, but you are ready for it.
Embrace it. Be proud of where you have come from and what you have accomplished.
Congratulations on being the first recipient of the MHS “Get After It” Wrestling Scholarship. You
are an embodiment of what this scholarship is intended to represent. Good luck with your next
stage of life, and most importantly: “Get After It”! -Scott
THE HERMAN BRUNN MEMORIAL-ACADEMIC COMPETITION AWARD
sponsored by Mayor Richard Onderko
The Herman Brunn Memorial- Academic Competition Award Scholarship is
awarded to:
Mackenzie Brown, Nicole Bak, Kaylee Pfeiffer, Piotr Bunkowski, John Sharbaugh, & Steven-Mark Datu
A message to the recipients the Herman Brunn Memorial- Award Scholarship:
The 5th annual “Herman Brunn Memorial - Academic Competition Awards” are awarded to 6
students, 3 boys, and 3 girls, who achieved academic excellence their senior year in MHS.
The scholarship awards are in memory of a great Manville educator who worked for over 40
years in our school district teaching Manville youth and making them better people. Mr. Brunn
instilled a sense of competition every single day in his classroom or while out on the
playground. He left an impression on me in 6th grade that lasted a lifetime.
Today, we all know how competitive our world is and I know these students are ready to
compete in college or in any career path they desire to pursue. I want the 6 award recipients
to know that Mr. Brunn was one of the best, most dedicated teachers to ever teach in
Manville. He was a Manville resident and a proud American who loved his students. Mr.
Brunn was also a member of the “greatest generation” serving at the end of World War II. He
was a veteran of the United States Army.
Message the Herman Brunn Memorial- Award Scholarship continued..
Since Mr. Brunn’s passing in October of 2015, I am honored to keep his memory alive
through this scholarship program. Congratulations to all the award winners and to the
entire class of 2020. The “American Dream” awaits!
Best wishes in your future endeavors,
Mayor Richard M. Onderko
