SCHOOLDAYTheschoolopensat7:00a.m.withBeforeHoursCarefrom7:00-7:40a.m.Thebellwillringat7:40todismissallstudentstotheirclassrooms.Studentsaremorepreparedforthedayandtendtoworkbetterwhentheyarrivebetween7:40and7:50am.Morningactivitiesbeginat7:40a.m.andclassesbeginimmediatelyat8:00a.m.TheGrammarschool(Kindergartenthrough5thgrades)dayendsat1:00p.m.

ORGANIZATIONALSTRUCTUREECCSisaministryofEvangelChurchP.C.A.andisgoverneddirectlybyaschoolboardallofwhomwillbeappointedbytheSessionofEvangelChurch.TheBoard’sauthoritywillbedelegatedtoitbythechurchSession,whichretainstherighttodissolvetheBoarduponatwo-thirdsvote,thusdirectlyassertingitsauthorityoverECCS.

ADMINISTRATIONECCSAdministrationconsistsoftheInterimHeadofSchoolwhooverseestheschoolprogramaswellasbothprincipalsandthedean;theGrammarPrincipalwhoadministersandmanagestheGrammarSchool,After-HoursCare,andtheGrammarCo-curricularEnrichmentProgram;andtheLogic&RhetoricPrincipal,whoadministersandmanagestheLogic&RhetoricSchoolandtheL&RCo-curricularEnrichmentProgram.OtheradministrativepersonnelincludetheAssistantstothePrincipals,AdmissionsDirector,GuidanceCounselor,EvangelClassicalPreschoolDirector,L&ROfficeManager,GrammarOfficeManager,BusinessOfficeManager,BusinessOfficeAssistant,andBefore/After-HoursDirector.

F. CURRICULUMThecurriculumwillbeestablishedbythePrincipals,andBoardCurriculumCommittee,whichwilldrawfromestablishedclassicalschoolcurricula,includingbutnotlimitedtoLogosClassicalSchoolandHillsdaleAcademy.TheNASBisthepreferredtranslationoftheBibleformostclassandmemorywork.
G. FINANCESECCSisfinanciallyself-supporting.Tuition,fundraisinganddonationsfromthosefavoringclassicalandChristianeducationaretheprimarysourcesofincome.
H. INSURANCEECCSprovidesAccidentInsurancecoverageforallstudentswhiletheyareonschoolgroundsandwhileattendingfieldtripsandotherschoolsponsoredactivities.
I. AFFILIATIONSEvangelClassicalChristianSchoolisanaccreditedmemberoftheAssociationofClassicalandChristianSchools(ACCS).Becauseourgoalsandphilosophiesareinherentlydifferentfromgovernmentschools,ECCSwillnotpursuestateaccreditation.ECCSdoesnotacceptanystateorfederalfunding.ACCSaccreditationdoesnotrequireteacherstobestatecertified.ECCSrequiresallteacherstohaveaminimumofaBachelor’sdegree.ECCSwillactivelyrecruitteacherswithclassicalexperience,graduatedegrees,anddegreesthatmostreflectthesubjectstobetaught.
J. PTFMISSIONSTATEMENTTheEvangelClassicalChristianSchool(ECCS)ParentTeacherFellowship(PTF)supportsthemissionofECCSthroughprayer,communication,serviceandfellowship.Weseektobuildcommunitybyencouragingandpromotingparentparticipationinschoolactivitiesandevents.AllparentsareinvitedtojoinandparticipateinallPTFmeetingsandevents.

L. SPECIALNEEDS ECCSisneitherstaffednorqualifiedtodiagnoseormeetspecialneedsofstudentswithcertain
specificdisabilities.Somelearningdisabilitiescategorizedasmildmayallowforcertainclassroomaccommodationstobemade,butalldiagnoseddisabilitiesmustbestatedonthestudentapplicationordocumentedinthestudent’sfileupondiagnosesifthechildisalreadyaccepted.Allrequestedaccommodationsmustbediscussedandagreeduponbyschoolofficialspriortostudent’sfinalacceptanceand/orplacementintoaclass.
III. THEBOARD
A. GOVERNANCEECCSshallbegovernedbytheBoard.
B. AUTHORITYOFTHEBOARDTheBoardshallbevestedwithitsgoverningauthoritybythechurchSession.Unlessotherwisenoted,alldecisionsoftheBoardshallbesubjecttotheauthorityoftheSessionasstatedin“OrganizationalStructure”above.
C. APPOINTEDBOARDMEMBERSTheBoardshallconsistofindividualsapprovedandappointedbytheSessionandwillalwaysincludeatleastoneactivememberoftheSession.
D. BOARDMEETINGSTheBoardshallholdatleastonemeetingeachcalendarquarter.WhiletheBoardmeetingswillbeheldinclosedsession,teachersorparentsofanECCSstudentmayrequesttoaddresstheBoardatascheduledmeetingbywrittenrequestatleastoneweekpriortoaregularlyscheduledmeeting.

STATEMENTOFFAITHANDSECONDARYDOCTRINES(FROMECCSBY-LAWS)ThisstatementoffaithcontainstheessentialbiblicaldoctrinesthatguidetheministryofEvangelClassicalChristianSchool.EvangelClassicalChristianSchoolisaministryofEvangelPresbyterianChurch(EPC),withwhose“StatementonMattersofFaith,Belief,Conduct,andUseofFacilities”weagreeandoperateinaccordance.TheaforementionedEPCdocumentamplifiesItemCintheECCSStatementofFaithbelow.Theprimarydoctrinesbelowdefinetheperspectivefromwhichallclasseswillbetaughtandareoneofthetoolsthatwillbeusedinthehiringoffacultyandadministration.IssuesnotmentionedinthisinthisstatementoffaithorspecificallyaddressedintheEPC“StatementonMattersofFaith,Belief,Conduct,andUseofFacilities”aretobeconsideredsecondarydoctrinesandwillnotbeemphasizedintheteachingoftheschool.Thesesecondarydoctrineissuesareimportant,andtheymayariseuponoccasionwithinthecurriculum;EvangelClassicalChristianSchoolrecognizesthatChristiansareatlibertytoreachdifferentconclusionsregardingthem.Theschool’srecognitionthatChristiansdisagreeonthesetopics,however,shouldnotbeinterpretedtomeanthattheschoolbelievesthatthereisnorightanswertoquestionsabouttheseissues.Withthiscaveatinmindandsothatdoctrinaldisputesdonotcauseirreparabledivisionwithintheschool,classroomdiscussionofsecondarydoctrineswillclearlydelineatetheReformedviewofthePresbyterianChurchofAmericawhileencouragingstudentstorespectfullyinvestigateandarticulatealternateviewsheldbyotherChristiantraditions.ECCSteacherswillmodelrespectfuldialogueandencouragestudentstofollowtheexampleoftheBereanswho“...receivedthewordwithgreateagerness,andexaminedtheScripturesdailytoseewhetherifwhatPaulsaidwastrue.”(Acts17:11,NIV).Studentswillalsobeencouragedtofollowupanyquestionstheyhaveregardingclassroomdiscussionwiththeirparentsandpastor.

academicallypreparedtobeginstudyatECCS.Agradelevelcompetence/entranceexaminmathematics,readingcomprehension,andwritingskillsisrequired.
4. Studentmustscore70%oraboveontherequiredentranceexam.5. ECCSisnotstaffedtoservestudentswithsignificantsocial,mental,orbehavioralproblems.
Studentmustexhibitappropriatelevelsofbehaviorandmaturityandparentsmustdiscloseanypreviousrecordofsignificantsocial,behavioral,ormentalproblems.Ifevidenceofnondisclosureoccursafteracceptancethestudentcouldbecomesubjecttodismissal.
6. Parent/Guardians’interviewmusthaveasatisfactoryconclusionasdeterminedbytheinterviewer.
7. ECCSisacovenantschoolrequiringthatatleastoneparentorlegalguardianbeaprofessingChristianingoodstandinginalocalchurchbasedonHebrews10:25.

B. WAITINGLISTANDAPPLICATIONPROCEDURE1. ECCSshallmaintainawaitingpoollistforallclasses.CurrentlyenrolledEvangel
ClassicalPreschoolK4studentswillhavefirstpriorityoverallotherK5applicationsprovidedthattheirnamesareonthewaitinglistbyJanuary15th.Childrenofteachers,siblingsofcurrentlyenrolledstudents,EvangelPresbyterianChurch(EPC)minister’schildren,andchildrenofEPCmemberswhohavetheirnamesplacedinthewaitingpoolbyJanuary15thwillhaveprioritystatusinthatorder(hereafterreferredtoas“PriorityApplicants”).

2. DEFINITIONS“Abusiveconduct”isdefinedasrudeorunseemlyconduct,whichistheantithesisofChristianloveasdescribedinICorinthians13:4-5.“Rude,”asdefinedbyMerriamWebsterisoffensiveinmanneroraction(i.e.,discourteous).“Unseemly”isdefinedbythesameresourceasthatwhichisnotaccordingwithestablishedstandardsofgoodformortaste(e.g.,unseemlybickering)orthatwhichisnotsuitablefortimeorplace(i.e.,inappropriate).
3. PROCESSParentswhodisplayapatternofabusiveconduct,whetherinpersonorthroughotherformsofcommunication,includinge-mailandsocialmedia,maybeaskedtowithdrawtheirchildfromtheschoolifeffortstoencourageamoreconstructiveapproachtoproblem-solvingfail.Astudentwhoiswithdrawnduetoabusiveparentconductcannotapplyforreadmissionforoneyearfollowingawithdrawal.Shouldsuchstudentdesirere-admittancetoECCSthefollowingyear,THEBOARDwillmakeadecisionbasedon,butnotlimitedto,thecircumstancessurroundingthewithdrawalandtheparent'scurrentattitudeasrelatestothereasonforwithdrawalasdeterminedbyaninterviewbyapanelofBoardmembersandadministrators,andthecircumstancesatthetimeofre-application.

IX. ATTENDANCEANDPUNCTUALITY
A. ATTENDANCE/ABSENCESRegularattendanceisessentialfortheacademicsuccessofGrammarSchoolstudents.Duetogenerousamountsofholidayswithintheschoolcalendar,schoolshouldbemissedonlywhenabsolutelynecessary.
1. Attendancewillberecordedineachclassroomatthebeginningoftheschoolday.
2. Studentsarelimitedtonomorethanfourteen(14)absencesperyear,excusedorunexcused,inordertopromotetothenextgrade.Exceptionswouldbemadeonlyincasesofextenuatingcircumstancessuchasextendedillnesses,andwillbemadeonacase-by-casebasisbytheBoard.
3. Studentswhoareabsentfromtheirclasswillbemarked“unexcused”untilanoteofexplanationisreceivedbytheECCSGrammaroffice.ParentsarerequiredtosendanoteofexplanationtotheECCSofficethedayafteranabsence.Shouldanotenotbereceivedwithinthree(3)schooldaysfromthedateoftheabsence,theabsencewillremainunexcused.

5. Ifastudentistobeabsentforanyforeseenreasonsuchasfamilytravel,appointments,etc.,parentsmustcontacttheGrammarSchoolofficepriortotheexpectedabsencetorequestapre-approvedabsenceortheabsencewillbeconsideredunexcused.
a. Forfamilytrips,anemailmustbesenttotheGrammarPrincipaldetailingthedatesandreasonfortheforeseenabsencepriortotheabsenceforapproval.
b. OncetheforeseenabsencehasbeenapprovedbytheGrammarPrincipal,teacherswillgivetheworkthatwillbemissedtothestudent.
c. Discretionaryabsences,suchasvacations,maynotbepre-approvedforstudentswhohavealreadymissedenoughdaysthattheyareonpacetoexceedthemaximumallowedabsencesfortheschoolyear.Forexample,ifastudenthasalreadymissednine(9)daysthefirstsemester,afour(4)dayvacationinFebruarywouldnotbeexcused,asitwouldputthestudentatgreatriskforexceedingthemaximumoffourteen(14)daysabsent.

7. Parentswillreceivenotificationfromtheofficeaftertwounexcusedabsenceswithinasemester.Followingfiveunexcusedabsences,aconferenceisrequiredbetweentheparentsandtheprincipal.
8. Ifanabsenceduetoanillnessisfourormoreconsecutivedays,adoctor’sexcusemustbeprovidedfortheabsencestobeexcused.

C. DISCIPLINEPOLICY1. PROBLEMBEHAVIOR
Responsetoastudent'sproblembehavior,inkindandamount,willbedeterminedbyhis/herteacherand,ifnecessary,theprincipal.Theseapplicationsofdisciplinewillbebasedonbiblicalprinciples,e.g.restitution,apologies(publicandprivate),swiftchastisement,restorationoffellowshipanddealingwithinappropriatelingeringattitudes.Thevastmajorityoftheseproblemswillbedealtwithattheclassroomlevel.Tomaintainconsistency,teacherswillmeetregularlytodiscussbiblicalstandardsandschoolpolicyconcerningtheseaspectsofdiscipline.
2. OFFICEVISITSTherearefivebasicbehaviorsthatwillautomaticallynecessitateattentionfromtheprincipal:
a. Disrespectshowntoanystaffmemberasdeterminedbythestaffmember.b. Dishonestyinanysituationwhileatschool,includinglying,cheating,and
stealing.c. Rebellion-outrightdisobedienceinresponsetoinstructions.d. Fighting-strikinginangerwiththeintenttoharmanother.e. Obscene,vulgar,orprofanelanguage.
Theprincipalmayrequirerestitution,janitorialwork,parentalattendanceduringtheschooldaywiththeirchild,spanking,orotherappropriatemeasures.Ifcorporalpunishmentisdeemednecessary,theprincipalwillcalltheparentsintotheofficetoadministerthepunishmenttotheirchild.However,theprincipalreservestherighttoadministercorporalpunishmentwithouttheparent’sattendance.
Withineithersemesteroftheschoolyear,ifastudentreceivesdisciplinefromtheprincipalforanyreason,thefollowingaccountingwillbeobserved:
a. Thefirsttwotimesastudentissenttotheprincipalfordisciplinehis/herparentswillbecontactedandappraisedofthedetailsofthevisit.Theprincipalwillseektheparents'assistanceandsupportinavertingfurtherproblems.
b. Ameetingofthestudent’sparents,teachers,andtheprincipalwillfollowthethirdofficevisitandtheBoardwillbenotified.

c. ShouldthestudentrequireafourthofficevisitthestudentwillbesuspendedfortwodaysandtheBoardwillbenotified.

3. EXPULSIONTheECCSBoardrealizesthatexpellingastudentisaveryseriousmatterandshouldalwaysbecarefullyconsideredonacase-by-casebasis.Forgivenessandrestorationarefundamentaltoouroveralldisciplinepolicy.However,shouldastudentandhisparentsbeunabletoeliminatebehaviorproblemsbeforeafifthofficevisitisrequired,thestudentwillbeexpelled.Expulsiondoesnotreleaseafamilyfromtheirfinancialresponsibilitiesandtheremainingannualtuitionwillremaindueuponexpulsion.
4. RE-ADMITTANCEAnexpelledstudentcannotapplyforreadmissionforoneyearfollowinganexpulsion.Shouldtheexpelledstudentdesirere-admittancetoECCSthefollowingyear,THEBOARDwillmakeadecisionbasedon,butnotlimitedto,thecircumstancessurroundingtheexpulsion,thestudent'scurrentattitudeasitrelatestothereasonforexpulsionasdeterminedbyaninterviewbyapanelofBoardmembersandadministrators,andthecircumstancesatthetimeofre-application.
5. SERIOUSMISCONDUCTShouldastudentcommitanactwithseriousconsequencestheprincipalmayby-passtheoffice-visitprocedureandsuspendorexpelthestudentimmediately.Examplesofsuchseriousmisconductinclude,butarenotlimitedto,actsofendangeringthelivesofstudentsorstaffmembers,grossviolence,vandalismtoschoolfacilities,orviolationsofcivilorcriminallaw.Studentsmaybesubjecttoschooldisciplineforseriousmisconductthatoccursoutsideschoolhoursandsuspectedviolationsofthelawwillbereportedtotheauthorities.
6. FOOD,CHEWINGGUM,ANDDRINKS

gotothegeneralbudgettobeusedasneeded—optional.)6. DramaConcessions(proceedswillgototheDramaClub.)
Allotherfundraiserrequests/suggestionsmustbepresentedtotheappropriateprincipalbyJuly15thfortheupcomingschoolyear.Ifapprovedbytheprincipals,theproposalwillbesubmittedtotheschoolBoardforfinalapproval.Groupfundraisersfortripsorgroupsmaybeorganizedbyparentsandconductedoffcampus.

A. UNIFORMS1. StudentsatECCSwillwearschooluniformsonallschooldaysunlessotherwise

DRESSCODECOMPLIANCETheadministrationwilldeterminewhetherstudentsarecomplyingwiththisdresscodeandmaybanotheritemsorpracticesconsideredgenerallyinconsistentwiththeintentofthispolicy.Dresscodecomplianceisimportanttotheconsistencyandatmosphereofself-disciplineandcompliancewithintheschool.Dressingoutofcodewillbedealtwithonadailybasis:
1. Thefirsttimeastudentisoutofcode(foranyoftheabovementionedviolations)aNon-Complianceemailnotificationwillbesenttotheparent.
