Editorial ....

Dear Comrades/Members,

As you know, the results of Parliamentary

Elections would be announced on 23rd of May

or by 24th May, 2019. The new Government is

expected to be formed within a week or so after

the results are declared by the Election

Commission of India, because of this, talks

between the working unions of the Banks could

not take place with I.B.A. Now, we hope that

very soon the necessary talks would be resumed

with the I.B.A./Govt. for the revision of their

salaries etc. for the 11th B.P.S.

As you know, U.F.B.U. & AIBOC, two major

organisations/unions of the working staff are fully

supporting our (Pensioners) demands of 30% for

family pensioners and updation of pension of the

retirees. We are eagerly waiting for the positive

development in the time to come. We wish the

principal office bearers of the above unions, all

the best and pray to God that their just genuine

demands are met and some assurances on our

demands are also met.

The Writ Petition 1875/2013 in respect of our

50% of the last drawn salary of the pensioners,

which is being heard in the Delhi High Court, we

have been informed by our Federation that after

discussion held on 1st, 2nd and 3rd of May and

10th of May, the Govt. Advocate (A.S.G.) has

completed her submission to the Court on 14th

of May, 2019 and the case was slated to be

heard on 21st May, 2019. Unfortunately, the

Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, who is heading

the Bench did not come to the Court on 21st

May and the next day of hearing has been fixed

for 27th of May, 2019. Since the arguments/

submissions from both side are over the case

is now very much in advance stage and we are

hopeful that by the time, you receive this

pensioners' mail, you will be in a position to have

some good news.

News from Units ....

KARNAL UNIT

Monthly meeting of SBI Pensioners Association, Karnal

Unit was held on 28th April (Sunday) in Tripati Hall,

Karnal Club at 4 p.m., which was presided over by Sh.

Parmod Gupta. Dr. Salil Gupta, a renowned

Ophthalmologist (Phaco and Retina Specialist), who is

running a reputed hospital named Sarswati Nethralya

at Karnal, was invited to deliver an awareness talk,

which was attended by a large number of pensioners.

Dr. Gupta explained in detail about the working of

each part of the eyes, their related diseases and

treatment. It was quite an interactive session and all

questions raised by the members were discussed to

the satisfaction of all their doubts.

Dr. Gupta on their request, agreed to give free Check-

up of the pensioners alongwith their spouses in his

clinic for full week from 29th April to 4th May, which

was highly appreciated by our members. The meeting

lasted for two and half hours.

Sh. S.P. Aggarwal, Vice President, Haryana Zone

thanked Dr. Gupta for sparing his valuable time and for

his kind gesture.

KURUKSHETRA UNIT

Monthly meeting of SBI Pensioners association

Kurukshetra unit was held on 28th April 2019 in

Gymkhana Club. More than 35 members participated

in the meeting. First of all, Shri V.K. Jain, President of

the unit apprised the members of the developments of

court cases pending in the courts. A representative of

Herbalife Nutrition was invited to give health tips, which

were liked by the members. The meeting was concluded

over a cup of tea and snacks.

JALANDHAR UNIT

We have been advised by the Secretary of our

Jalandhar Unit as follows :

"Yoga" the need of the hour

We feel pleasure to intimate you that in our monthly

meeting of our Jalandhar unit held on 08-05-2019, we

invited Sh. Kamal Aggarwal, a “Yoga perfectionist" to

throw light how to derive benefit out of doing "Yoga"

in a right sphere. Sh. Aggarwal has been organizing

"Yoga" activities for the last 20 years in Jalandhar City.

He explained to all the members that "Yoga" should be

performed as per need of the individual person

depending upon the age and flexibility of his body. He

also reiterated that certain postures which are difficult

to perform at an advanced age should be avoided so

that no untoward thing happens. He gave tips on

eating healthy food and advised to avoid junk food,

cold drinks, alcohol etc. etc.

In this connection, he gave many practical tips in

order to keep oneself healthy & happy which is very

essential for senior citizens to lead a good life. What

he meant to say that "Yoga" is the need of the hour

in this intolerable atmosphere. All the members enjoyed

themselves to the maximum & derived the fullest

benefit out of it.

In the end, Sh. Y.P. Suri & Sh. M.R.Vij showered a

word of praise on Sh. Aggarwal for his candid efforts

to keep the audience spell bound by dint of his magical

presentation. Sh. Raj Kumar, our president proposed

a vote of thanks. The meeting was dispersed followed

by tea & snacks.

PALAMPUR UNIT

A very well organised meeting was held by or Palampur

Unit on 21.04.2019 in which about 45 members

participated. The meeting was held at the Campus of

H.P. Agricultural University premises, Palampur.

Sh. U.S. Negi, Vice President of H.P. Module and Sh.

Nirmal Sharma from Kullu, our Zonal Secretary of H.P.

Module also attended the meeting, who came all along

from Shimla and Kullu. The meeting was presided by

Sh. M.S. Goindi, former Vice President of the SBISA.

Sh. P.C. Rana, our Zonal Secretary of H.P. Module and

Secretary of the Palampur Unit welcomed all the

members from Palampur and adjoining places.

Bouquets were presented to S/Sh. M.S. Goindi, T.R.

Gupta, K.K. Trikha, S.K. Sharma and Tek Chand. The

senior-most pensioners S/Sh. M.L. Nagpal and Virbhan

Chand were honoured by the local unit.

Circle Association honoured S/Sh. P.C. Rana (Palampur)

and Nirmal Sharma (Kullu), our Zonal Secretaries of

H.P. Module, for their services rendered to the SBIPA,

Chandigarh Circle. S/Sh. M.S. Goindi, K.K. Trikha, U.S.

Negi and T.R. Gupta addressed the gathering thereat.

Sh. T.R. Gupta apprised the members about the latest

developments of the Association and the Federation.

A sumptuous lunch was served to all the participants

after the closure of the meeting.

ABOHAR UNIT

The monthly meeting of April, 2019 was organised at

the residence of Sh. T.K. Datta, the Secretary of the

Unit, which was presided by Sh. L.C. Suther, President

of the Unit. Discussions were held on various subjects

relating for the welfare of the pensioners. The case of

Smt. Raj Rani was also discussed and the members

were informed that she got an amount of Rs.71872/-

as arrears of her deceased husband. The arrangements

for the foundation day on 19.05.2019 were also chalked

out. It was also decided that three senior most members

namely S/Sh. R.T. Prakash, R.K. Gupta and Om

Prakash Pruthi will be honoured on the foundation day.

GURUGRAM UNIT

It is heartening to inform you that a new unit of SBIPA,

Chandigarh Circle has been formed at Gurugram on

28.04.2019. S/Sh. T.R. Gupta, S.K. Sharma, K.K. Trikha

and S.C. Aggarwal attended the meeting thereat in

which the senior most pensioner Sh. K.L. Arora was

honoured with the presentation of Shawl by the Circle

Association in which the above mentioned office-

bearers from the Circle were present. It was a well

beginning and about 35 to 40 members were present.

Sh. T.R. Gupta & Sh. K. K. Trikha apprised the members

about the working of the Circle Association &

Federation of SBI Pensioners. We are thankful to Sh.

S.C. Aggarwal, our Organising Secretary-II, who was

instrumental in organising the above meet and getting

enrolled new members.
