Who can attend?Athletes who have a physical disability, ranging in age from 8-17.
What is it all about?Ability First is a wheelchair sports camp designed to provide instructional and recre-ational sports opportunities to youth with physi-cal disabilities. Athletes must be minimum assist to independent and be able to actively engage in sports. Sports range from the beginner through both the junior and national levels of athletic competition. Evening recreation programs are designed to provide opportunities for leisure and social activities.
Where is it located?Dormitory on the campus ofCalifornia State University, Chico.
When is it?June 16-22, 2019
Camp includesIncludes room and board, minimum assistance with daily living activities, a camp T-shirt, a water bottle, instruction in wheelchair sports programs, access to specialized equipment, transportation to the water ski lake and social activities.
Scholarships available based on identified needs.
Programs are directed toward wheelchair sports instruction for youth who have physical disabili-ties. Some sports may be appropriate for ambu-latory athletes depending on individual ability. Prior to instruction, athletes’ abilities will be assessed. Camp o�ers a wide range of sports from wheelchair Basketball, Quad Rugby, Power Soccer, Hand Cycling, WCMX, Track & Field, Tennis and Water Sports. Evening Programs include; Skit Night (Parent night), Movie Night

Ability First Sta� are comprised of professionalsin the community who have years of experienceand knowledge of persons with disabilities. OurCoaches are disabled athletes with training andexperience in collegiate, national and interna-tional Paralympic sports. Our counselors arestudents from Chico State Therapeutic Recre-ation and Adapted Physical Education Depart-ments, and sta� from the Boys & Girls Clubs ofthe North Valley.
