It is with prayer and great care that we assemble our annual Gratitude Report for you, our donors, our supporters, our prayer partners, our friends. We do not take lightly the responsibility for which we have been graced. Our hearts are to accurately and humbly present to you an account
of not only the use of every dime you have trusted to our stewardship, but to present the clearest picture possible of the harvest that has grown from your gifts.
2019 has been a look-what-the-Lord-has-done-kind-of-year. As I write, I think about the faces of the women who walked through our doors this year. The safety that they found, the tears they shed, the acceptance they received, the prayers we prayed together, the souls that were saved. These faces you will never see; we protect them fiercely. But their hearts, their stories, I want to share with you now here, because these lives are on your account. You are the reason they have a Christ-filled safe place to heal. Thank you.
I present you humbly the DaySpring Villa 2019 Gratitude Report, with my utmost thanks to you, who make all of this possible.
Our mission is to provide physical, emotional, and Christ-like care to enable women and their children to live God-honoring lives.

The power of one person can be used for good or for evil. To help or to hurt. Most of our guests' stories begin with one person, an abuser. Our guests know the power one person can have over another; the power of control, fear, intimidation, pain.
We provide an accepting environment that encourages each victim to step out of fear and into the light of God's love. We are here for this next chapter of their stories. We believe in the the power of One as well. One who saves, who delivers, who heals broken minds, bodies and hearts. Through Christ-like care, guests learn about another power, the power of Jesus, the One who redeems and restores.
Our prayer for our guests:
I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3: 17b-19

Shame is a horribly heavy weight. It silences victims from reaching out, it tells them they are unworthy. Shame is a lie, however. Shame, once placed in the light of God's unconditional love, begins losing it's hold.

alexis' story I had no power. My "boyfriend" decided where I should go, what I must do, what I was worth. He told me if I ever tried to leave him, he would kill me. I had no way out for months.
I had called DaySpring Villa more than a dozen times, but never followed through with escape. I wanted freedom, but was scared my boyfriend would find out. Fear had a hold on me. My boyfriend had made me do things I can't talk about, I paid his bills for him by doing favors for his "friends". He told me after what I had done, no one would ever love me but him. I was filled with so much shame, and I believed him. I was desperate for freedom, and one day I found the courage to call DaySpring Villa one more time. We made a plan of escape. Would it work?
I got permission from my boyfriend to go to the grocery store; my heart was racing and my hands were shaking. DaySpring Villa staff were waiting for me there. I left with them and never looked back. When we arrived at DaySpring Villa, and the security doors closed behind us, I could feel the peace of God. I felt safe.
Once inside the walls of DaySpring Villa, abused and trafficked women become our treasured guests, loved unconditionially and served without judgement.

Starting over can be exciting but can also be filled with much anxiety and uncertainty. Within their first week, our guests may only be able to take baby steps of faith, but no steps are insignificant when they are empowerd by hope.
We believe in the power , the promise, the message of the cross.

diane's story I had never been in a place as safe as DaySpring Villa. For the first time in my life, no one demanded anything of me.
I had only the clothes I was wearing when I arrived, no money, no clothes, no food. But with nothing to offer, the staff and volunteers accepted and loved me. I had never been in a place like this. I had my own bed. They gave me food, clothing and all the necessities. I was overwhelmed, and when I asked why they would do so much to help me, they told me I was loved, worthy and valuable.
I started attending a bible study with some of the staff and other women. I learned about a God who loves me unconditioninally, who doesn't control or abuse his power, but who accepts me as I am. His love overwhelmed me, and I found myself crying tears of joy as I prayed with staff for God to be Lord of my life.
I continued to find healing at DaySpring Villa. Every step of the way, I was surrounded by support, encouragement and Christ-like care.
Diane has since completed our program, and started the next chapter of her life through our Non-Residential Program. She lives in her own house, has a job, a new life. She tells other women of the love of God and the freedom they can find in Christ. She would want you to know your gift hasn't stopped impacting lives.
Diane is 1 of 124 women who escaped domestic violence at DaySpring Villa in 2019.

We believe in the power of community to support and assist women on the road from trauma to triumph.

michelle's story I had a strong support system who believed in me when I could not believe in myself.
Abuse is rooted in power and control. I had been controlled for so long, I didn't know how to live free from my abuser. I had turned to drugs and alcohol to cope. I was a shell of a person when I arrived at DaySpring Villa.
Even in my first few days at DaySpring Villa, I began to feel a love and peace that I had never felt before. I now know that it was our Heavenly Father beginning His work in my life. There were staff and volunteers encouraging me, praying for me, sometimes just sitting with me and letting me cry. No one judged me. They only offered hope, helping me break free from the mentality that I could not make it on my own.
I began to feel Jesus in me; my secret shame didn't hold me so tightly anymore. My incredible support team helped me set goals toward recovery—they walked with me every step of the way. I began to see an entire network of support around me, from advocacy, dental and eye care, legal matters, transportation to GED classes, employment interviews, and jobs. Today I know I'm not alone, and my future is full of hope.
DaySpring Villa creates a team of support that helps victims rewrite their stories from trauma to triumph by giving back to them the power to make choices for themselves. Every guest matters.

Kiera and JayLynn's storyKiera and Jaylynn needed time. Time to heal, time to get their footing. Time to rebuild.
I thought because my daughter was young, she might not realize the abuse she was witnessing. I used makeup to cover bruises, and I smiled even when I was hurting. I thought I was protecting her from the pain. As Jaylynn grew, she would see my abuser hit me, and she would cry and hit herself. I can't tell you how this broke my heart. I had stayed in the abusive relationship because my abuser was Jaylynn's father, but when Jaylynn started reacting like she did, I understood it was affecting her deeper than I knew.
I knew I needed help, but where could I go where Jaylynn was also taken care of ? One Sunday someone at church was talking about DaySpring Villa, a place where child trauma was specifically addressed. This was an answer to prayer. I knew I needed help with Jaylynn's stress responses.
I called DaySpring Villa and they offered me a place of escape from my abuser. I felt at home immediately. No one judged me. For the first time I saw hope, freedom and safety are only found in Jesus.
Kiera and Jaylynn both received professional counseling for the trauma they had experienced. Everyone heals in their own time, and Kiera and Jaylynn stayed as long as needed at DaySpring Villa.
The average guest stay is 45 days.

Jeanie | GUEST My husband, the father of my children had just tried to run my car off of the road because I had gathered the courage to leave the abusive relationship. I was desperately trying to hold it together for my kids, who were terrified. We had left our home and driven straight to DaySpring Villa to escape. My children and I didn't leave each other's side for many days.
After I had been at DaySpring Villa for about 3 weeks – Susan Cox, the Executive Director saw me in the hall talking to my case manager. She came right up and said, "I couldn't walk by without telling you how bright and great you look!" She could see that something was different. And I felt different. I could smile again. I responded, "It is because I am here, safe, with my children."

Robin HaynesRobin Haynes | VOLUNTEER I love the time I spend at DaySpring Villa. Everything I do there, from cleaning and preparing guest rooms for the next guest to providing a meal for the guests and staff once or twice a month, is all for the glory of God and to show the women and children who have made DaySpring Villa their home that God so dearly loves them. Also to show them that they are so much loved by the people at DaySpring Villa.
The love of God is very much on display at DaySpring Villa. It shows in everything the staff and volunteers do for these precious women and their children. The love, protection, and emotional support that is shown to them is making an impact and changing lives. It’s such an honor to be a part of it!
I believe God is at work at DaySpring Villa.

When survivors walk through the doors of DaySpring Villa, it is a fact that they are loved by God and are created to be in relationship with Him.
It’s not easy to hear women, and children courageously share about the abuse and trauma they’ve lived through. To see their bruises and scars. Their stories are heartbreaking and can feel so dark. But I know that God uses the staff of DaySpring Villa to be a light, pushing back the darkness of abuse and trafficking.
I love when I get to sit down with a guest and share the hope I have in Jesus. I’ve experienced God invade their pain and I’ve seen survivors hear the truth of the gospel and trust Him. For the first time for many of our guests, they are seeing that true hope, freedom, and safety are only found in Jesus.
I believe in the ministry of DaySpring Villa.

We measure our obedience to the call God has placed on DaySpring Villa to minister to abused and trafficked women and their children. We don't spend a dime without measuring the impact.
