For the second night in a row, the Round Rock Express made an epic comeback to defeat the Omaha Storm Chasers, this time it was a 9-8 victory after 10 innings at Dell Diamond on Wednesday night. The visitors put four runs on the board to open the game, all coming via home runs. Round Rock broke through in the fourth as SS Alex De Goti used a sacrifice fly to plate DH Josh Rojas after his leadoff triple. However, Omaha CF Bubba Starling then notched a grand slam to push the Storm Chasers ahead 8-1. Round Rock began an incredible comeback in the fifth frame as C Jamie Ritchie led off with a single that was quickly matched by CF Derek Fisher. The duo then trotted home thanks to a three-run bomb from 1B Taylor Jones. The next inning, De Goti led off with a single and advanced on a throwing error when 2B Garrett Stubbs reached base via a fielder’s choice. A double off the bat of Ritchie quickly drove in De Goti and advanced Stubbs to third. LF Chas McCormick wasted no time, doubling in Ritchie to bring the E-Train within one. McCormick stole the show with a leadoff bomb in the eighth inning that leveled the score at eight to eventually force extra innings. In the 10th, Mayfield capped off the comeback with a walkoff single. Stubbs began the inning at second and quickly moved to third on a Ritchie sacrifice fly. McCormick then worked a walk before Fisher was intentionally walked, loading the bases for Mayfield, who secured Round Rock’s incredible 9-8 comeback by driving in Stubbs on a single to deep left field. ROGELIO ON THE HILL Express RHP Rogelio Armenteros is scheduled to make his 12th start of the season in tonight's series opener against the Oklahoma City Dodgers. The righty has compiled a 3-5 record alongside a 4.74 ERA while fanning 55 opposing hitters. Armenteros appeared in two games against the Dodgers in 2018, collecting a win along the way. As a starter, Armenteros averages 10.0 strikeouts-per-nine innings to only 3.5 walks. PICKING UP WHERE HE LEFT OFF Express RHP Tanner Duncan saw action in his first Triple-A game since being reassigned to the Class A-Advanced Fayetteville Woodpeckers on May 6. Duncan made a ninth-inning relief appearance and held off Omaha to help his squad force extra innings. The show continued in the 10th as Duncan twirled a 1-2-3 inning. The righty earned his second Triple-A win in an E-Train walkoff victory after striking out one in a pair of hitless innings. I THINK HE JUST HOMERED AGAIN... Round Rock 1B Taylor Jones dazzled in last night's series finale, crushing his second three-run homer in as many days. Jones aims to stay hot as the E-Train hits the road for five games. Interestingly, Jones has performed far better on the road than at home. Away from Dell Diamond, Jones hits to a .368 average (53-144) and has hit 10 home runs and 15 doubles compared to a .203 average at home (25-123). STREAKING RIGHT ALONG After claiming four straight games against the Omaha Storm Chasers, the Round Rock Express have strung along a new season-high home winning streak. The team answered Omaha's narrow win in the series opener and swept the remaining four games, much like their first series against the foe to break the previous record. BACK-TO-BACK Last night's walkoff victory marked the first time this season the Express have walked it off in consecutive games. The pair of wins also marked the first time they have notched two walkoffs in a single series. EXPRESS MANAGER MICKEY STOREYMickey Storey joins the Express from the Class-A Quad Cities River Bandits, where he began his managerial career in 2018. The 32-year-old skipper led the River Bandits to an 81-59 record in 2018, the second-best mark in the Midwest League and the club’s highest win total since 2015. Prior to his time in Quad Cities, Storey served as the Development Coach at Class-A Advanced Buies Creek in 2017. The former right-handed pitcher had a nine-year professional playing career that included one season with the Astros in 2012 in which he posted a 3.86 ERA in 26 appearances with the Major League club.

Storey was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he attended nearby Deerfield Beach High School before moving on to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. He was drafted twice in his career, first by the Minnesota Twins in the 22nd round of the 2007 MLB Draft and again by the Oakland Athletics in the 31st round of the 2008 MLB Draft. During his nine-year professional career, Storey pitched at every level of affiliated baseball, including stints with Sacramento and Oklahoma City in the Pacific Coast League. He also posted winter ball stints in the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Venezuela. He finished his playing career in 2016 following two seasons with the Somerset Patriots of the independent Atlantic League. In total, the righty amassed a career 3.52 ERA in 385 games.
