Dear Parents

This letter signals that the end of the third term (gasp!) is upon us. It has been a long term and I know that the children are tired and looking forward to the break; especially our matrics.

STAFF NEWSI would like to keep you updated of staff developments for 2020 as they are now (we are still in the interview process with a number of posts):

• It is a great joy to announce that our Nqobile Nene will assume the position of Media Centre Manageress in 2020. Ms Nene has been a Teacher Assistant and has successfully completed her qualifications.

• We are currently advertising for the position of a Sports Co-ordinator as follows:

The person we are seeking should be an individual with energy, strong work ethic, integrity and a competent sport coach and can align with the vision of the school.

The requirements for this position are:• A person who can engage and inspire young students.• Previous working experience within a similar position.• Good planning, organisational and administrative skills, with attention to detail.• Demonstrated ability to prioritise and work independently at all times.• Ability to co-ordinate and coach a variety of sports.• The ability to foster and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders.• A commitment to on-going personal and professional development.• An awareness of the nature of the school and willingness to commit to its all-round ethos, co-curricular

activities and pastoral approach.

WE’RE BUILDING AGAIN! Owing to increased pressure on our resources, it has become necessary to build two new classrooms. Construction began this week and the projection is that they will be completed by the end of November but this is obviously not a certainty.

Biology Quiz We are hosting the inter-school Biology Quiz this year in the YPF from 16:30. We compete against St Mary’s, St Albans and Woodhill in a very relaxed and fun event each year. A few pupils from Grade 8 - 12 have been selected to participate and they will receive details in a letter sent home. Colleagues and parents are welcome to come and support the participants on the night. Participants must wear full winter uniform while spectators may come in school-approved civvies.

The January Masilela gate will be closed …

… all day as they will have big cement trucks moving in from early in the morning. No entrance /exit will be possible from Wednesday night until Friday morning. We are expecting the Corobay and Gay Street entrances to be congested at drop off time. As parents said that they didn’t know where these gates are, I attach a map :)

SP Music Showcase Come and join us as our SP pupils share some of the music class activities.• Time: 18:00 for 18:30

All SP pupils need to be in the YPF by 18:00. The choir needs to report to Mrs Marques in the Eagle Hall. Tea and coffee will be available to parents in the Lion hall before the 18:30 start of the event.
