wHacienda DayPRADO FARMS OCTOBER 2019 Day Tour Packages
What is Hacienda Day?At a glance..
PRADO FARMS Eco - Resort is situated within a sprawling hacienda dedicated to bio-dynamic farming, where you can get away from the rat race of the city to simply relax, unwind, and eat healthy for a day. Swim, go fishing, and bike to your heart's content! You can also check out the farm animals, or simply indulge in clean, fresh air to clear your head.
Guaranteed to rejuvenate!
Our packages are also perfect for company outings, educational tours and family reunions.
The Hacienda Day TourAs Prado’s LPG gates swing open for arriving guests, we give them a special Kapampangan welcome
by ushering them into the Salangi (that’s Kapampangan for “come into the shade”). Here, refreshments
made from locally grown lemon grass await them.
Morning MeriendaAfter registration at the reception counter, guests
may proceed to the Prado store to check out what’s
available as pasalubongs, or merely to note the
store’s peculiar décor, which hints at more
peculiarities to encounter.
A mid-morning minindal, Kapampangan style, awaits
guests at the verandah. On some days it might be
tsokolate and fried suman. On others it could be
binatog (steamed white corn kernels flavored with
salt and coconut shavings) and coffee. What
follows is a tour of the quaint structures on the
farm, each one with a story to tell. If walkabouts are
not your thing, you have choices to get around -
on a bicycle or a carabao-drawn cart.
Whimsical things to see..

After the morning merienda, a tour on our front and farm area will follow.
Swimming PoolsJust behind the red theatre is the
kiddie pool with a screened dome
over it. A smaller one has been
recently added at the side of the
theatre. The big salt-water swimming
pool is to be reached through a gate
at the end of the orchard. It is built
above a pond, so in the season of
rain, you could very well be enjoying
a swim in the pool while underneath,
carabaos cool themselves in the
pond.

Activities for the KidsGuests with children have a number of options
to keep the little ones engaged. Kids can be
kids here – with all the space they need expend
their energies in. They could go around on
foot, or on bikes, or on a carabao-drawn cart.
How much swimming, wading, climbing, running, fishing
and playing can they fit in a day? A lot. The
more adventurous won’t lack for hidden
corners, crawl spaces and untrodden paths to
explore. They could go and see the ducks, the
goats, cows and carabaos. Our pigs roam free,
feed on surplus vegetables and quality feeds,
which is why they do not smell.
From Farm to the Table..
We practice what we preach. Most of the food we serve exemplifies
farm-to-table cuisine. Not far from the dining hall is where it all comes
from. You’ll see the rice crops, the assorted vegetables we grow and the
animals we raise biodynamically. The pig pens house more than a
hundred pigs in beds of sawdust. They roam free, give off no odor, and
feed on high-quality feeds and arugula. Whatever’s in season, whatever
we have a surplus of, that’s what they feed on. Nothing is wasted. These
practices explain the special quality and taste of the pork we serve, and
our pride in our lechon. We grow basil, talelong, kangkong, arugula,
alugbati, medicinal plants like serpentina, aloe vera, culinary herbs,
banaba, guyabano, pandan-lalaki, lemon grass, turmeric, galangal or
langkawas.

Kera KeraThe word means “to lie down, to chill”. That’s
what people do at the kerakera, the natural next
stop after lunch. A coffee room adjoining the
main lodge is where guests relax and continue
conversations over coffee or tea. The kerakera
was built in the 1980s as a retreat house, the
largest structure on the farm. Like all the others, it
has a homey, lived-in, period feel, having been built
with recycled wood and other materials.
Everywhere is an invitation to recline, to rest, to
nap…the couches strewn with throw pillows, the
cushioned seaters, the wide wooden staircase
that leads up to the rooms.
For those wanting to stay overnight, the kerakera offers choices of rooms. See our room rates here.
