Director’s Message
With the entire world shrunk into an approacha-ble neighborhood, with the ever changing values and with the emergence
of fresh realms of appropriate training and knowledge has turned to be a pre- requisite for all successful individuals as well as organizations. In a developing country like ours where the potential is bounteous but much is yet to be done, a chain of universities like CUI is blessing. The Vision and Mission statement of the university is a true manifestation of what we venture to achieve in our day to day working at CUI, Wah Campus. The quality of our Graduates in the market is clear depiction of our untiring and exhaustive efforts. Availability of the best possible resources, including the human resource, to the students is our top priority. Our experienced, qualified and self motivated faculty has, by now, proven its excellence in achieving the assigned goals. I warmly welcome the new entrants in Department of Mechanical Engineering in CUI, Wah Campus and hope that they will progress in their academic pursuits and contribute for the betterment of country and society.

Dean’s Message
Engineering at CUI offers
unique opportunities for inno-
vative education and re-
search. At CUI, Engineering
education was initiated in 1999 with single
discipline and now, after more than fourteen
years, it has grown beyond expectations hav-
ing 07 engineering disciplines offering 32 pro-
grams at undergraduate and graduate levels
in different campuses of CUI. It has been con-
sistently ranked among top Engineering Facul-
ties of Pakistan by Higher Education Commis-
sion of Pakistan. Times Higher Education
(THE) UK ranked Faculty of Engineering (FoE)
at CUI among top 301-400 in the 2018 THE
Engineering and Technology subject ranking. I
am pleased to mention the addition of new
Department of Mechanical Engineering (DME)
at CUI, Wah campus. DME is equipped with
state of the art teaching and research labora-
tories, modern teaching aids supplemented
with wide range of facilities for curricular ac-
tivities. I believe that, as DME continues to
expand and gets mature, it will emerge as an
internationally recognized center of excellence
in the field of Mechanical Engineering.

ASHRAE Canada and Pakistan Teams Visits CUI Wah
Student Updates/News 2019, Vol. 1, Issue 1, P-3/4
A warm welcome to the first batch of DME was arranged in Auditorium. HoD on behalf of Director Campus and DME faculty welcomed and addressed them
to be proud to be COMSIANS and be Disciplined and Professional to learn and provide Solutions to community and industry under th guidance of Experi-enced Faculty @DME and CUI Wah. All students were observed motivated to start their engineering student life.
DME believes on students professional training from start and keeping in view OBE philosophy has started students industrial visits to get exposure to real world Engineering Organizations and products and processes. In the first se-
mester 3 visits were arranged to; KSB Pumps Company Ltd, Hassanabdal; Heavy Mechanical Complex Taxila; Best-way Cement Limited. students learned different Design, Manufacturing, Assem-bly, Foundry and Production Processes of heavy mechanical parts and equip-ment used in Sugar Plants, Cement Plants. They also learned waste heat
recovery systems, Power Plants, Boilers, Cranes and many more.
Truss bridge Competition Truss bridge Competition was organized by Institution (ICE) UK chapter at Civil Engineer-ing Department, CUI Wah on Dec 19, 2018. 25 teams from different universities partici-pated in the event. A Truss based bridge made by 1st semester students of MED suc-cessfully beard 79.5KG nor-mal load and received con-solation prize.
Attitude building and
professional approach development is the main focus of DME. Students are advised to strictly follow ‘Safety-First’ rule. They aren’t allowed to work without wearing/ safety gadgets. DME is also 9001 certified. In addition during industrial visits DME students ensure safety wearing and is appreciated by the industry.
Professional Technical Societies are consid-ered one of the best practices to interact with national and international groups and organi-zations to develop leadership, communication and Ethical skills to benefit society by sharing and learning. In this regard DME has already established three International student chap-ters; ASME, ASHRAE and AIAA. IMechE Chap-ter will also be established soon. ASME is the leading inter-national developer of codes and standards associated with the art, science, and practice of mechanical engineering. ASME develops voluntary stand-ards that enhance public safety, health, and quality of life as well as facilitate innovation, trade, and competitiveness. ASHRAE is an acronym which stands for the
American Society of Heat-ing, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers. The AIAA is the U.S. rep-r e s e n t a t i v e o n the International Astro-nautical Federation and the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences. In 2015, it had more than 30,000 members among aero-space professionals worldwide.

MUHAMMAD REHAN
In start I wasn’t clear about the
field and took admission in Elec-
trical Department but now trans-ferred my admission into Mechan-
ical Engineering. I am very
pleased on my decision. I con-
cluded that Mechanical engineers
have good life, Mechanical engineers are multi
skilled. Mechanical engineers have a working
knowledge of computer applications, electricity,
structure, Mathematics and physics.
FAISAL AMIN I am lucky being pioneer of ME
at CUI Wah. From starting my
course made me think that it was
too hard. So I decided to do my
best. Teachers are always very
cooperative and supportive.
Whenever I felt any need our
teachers always respond me in a friendly environ-
ment. They point out me what I have to learn, what I need to remember for next time and what
bad habits to leave. I’ll sum up by saying “East and
West, COMSATS is the best”.
MOAZZAN ALI
Mechanical engineering is intro-
duced for the first time in batch
2018 at Wah Campus. In my
point of view it is the best of all
with the highly equipped & ready-to-use mechanical labs, lecture
halls and highly qualified dedi-
cated faculty. Teachers are very cooperative and
environment is very flexible and friendly to learn.
I'm sure that this is the best decision of my life to
study here and I'm very pleased to be part of Me-
chanical Family. May Allah bless our faculty and
prosper our department... (Ameen)

It is a great experience at COM-
SATS because I came for the rea-
sons that made it a right pick for
me. Mechanical Engg. courses has
been amazing so far & cannot wait
for what is next in next semester.
This field fulfilled my expectations
for what I thought. I initially struggled a lot but now
I’m highly satisfied. The faculty members are ex-tremely helpful, accommodating and encouraging. I
am also now participating in ASHRAE chapter as first
Vice President of it. Our HoD and faculty members
are putting their day night efforts and proved that
we are a COMSATS FAMILY.
FIZA BATOOL
I am extremely fortunate being
in first batch of DME. CUI being a best leading engineering uni-
versity and our experienced
faculties who lead our paths to
success. My first semester in ME
at CUI was so good but the rou-
tine was very tough. Teacher’s Cooperation made
it easy to adjust things. DME is well equipped with
hands on lab experience. In workshop I worked
and we enjoyed working on machines. These all things are new for us, but our teachers were al-
ways available and flexible with the tutoring be-
havior. This gave us much relaxation during our
semester.
