Anekant Educat ion Soc ie ty ' s Tu l ja ram Chaturchand College is one of the prestigious colleges in Pune District. The college has been playing significant role in academic upliftment of students especially from the semi-urban areas from its inception in 1962. We cannot rest on laurels of yesterday; we have to upgrade ourselves to meet the changing demands of time. With the motto 'We for Students', the college is constantly involved in refining the teaching-learning process. It strongly believes in innovation and continuous improvement. I am very much delighted that the of Second issueTCC Chronicle is all set to go to print. It is a snapshot of various academic activities and advancement the college has made in the last couple of months i.e. from September 2016. The newsletter highlights the significant events and the progress made by the college in different avenues.I would like to thank Hon. Arhatdas Shah-Saraf, President AES, Hon. We are happy to release our of Second issue TCC Chronicle. In this issue you will find all of the latest updates on the progress of the college from September to December 2016. Although, we have a long way to go, the first steps are always the hardest. With continuous support of you all, we will continue to provide the latest breakthroughs of the college.I, on behalf of all my colleagues, would like to convey my deepest gratitude towards the Management, Principal, Vice –Principals, all Teaching and non-teaching staff and Registrar of the college, for their constant support at various stages of compilation. Celebration of
Padmabhushan Dr Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil's Jayanti

Bhaurao Patil was celebrated with great enthusiasm.
Tuljaram Chaturchand College, Vidhya Pratisthan's
ACS College, Shri Chatrapati Shahu Highschool, R. N.
Agarwal Technical Highschool and other schools from
Baramati Tehsil celebrated Dr Karmaveer Bhaurao n dPatil 's Jayanti on 22 September, 2016. To
commemorate it, various programmes were
organized. The chariot procession from Shri Shahu
Highschool was organized to different parts of the city ndon 22 September in which teachers and students
from various colleges and schools participated with
great zeal and enthusiasm. Wall-paper exhibition was
also arranged.
As a part of weeklong Birth Anniversary celebration
'Elocution competition' of Secondary, Higher
secondary and college students was organized and
winners were felicitated by the chief guest of the
programme Hon. Dr. Digamber Durgade, Former
Chairman, Pune District Co-operative Bank and the
chief guests Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar,
Principal Dr. Bharat Shinde, V.P. College, Baramati and
Hon. Dilip Dhavan Patil, Member, Local School
committee. On this occasion Hon. Principal S. D.
Abhang, Hon. Principal V. G. Mane, Hon. Principal
Chavan, Hon S. D. Ghadge, Prof. Maruti Kokare, vice
principal, Dr. Ranjana Nemade, vice principal, Prof.
Rajani Surve, vice principal, Prof. R. K. Agawane,
Organizing secretary of Jayanti Committee, and other
dignitaries were also participated in the function.

Moropant Intercollegiate Elocution and Debate Competition 2016
Tuljaram Chaturchand College and Municipal
Corporation of Baramati jointly organized the two rddays intercollegiate 43 state level Moropant
th th Elocution and Debate competition on 27 and 28
September 2016. For the competition 49 students,
from 29 Junior and Senior colleges, participated
from different corners of Maharashtra.
The inaugural function was presided by Hon
Arhatdas Shah, President, AES and graced by Hon.
Hemant Nikam, Dy. District Collector as the chief
guest in the auspicious presence of Hon. Yogesh
(Bhaiya) Jagtap, Mayor, Baramati Municipal
Corporation, Hon. Jawahar Shah-Wagholikar,
Secretory, AES and Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar
Murumkar. As an Organizing Secretary Dr.
Bhagwan Mali gave an introductory speech.
For the prize distribution ceremony Hon. Mrs Rani
Patil, President of Yashaswini Foundation and social
worker was the chief guest. The students of T. C.
College Mr. Hanumant Deokate and Miss Tejaswini
Gholve won the first prize in Debate (senior)
competition.
Dr. Rajendra Shah, retd. principal, Prof. Mrs
Padmaja Kelkar-Prabhune, Mr. Raj Kazi and Prof.
Mrs Neelima Kulkarni were the judges for the senior
college competition and Prof. Vilas Parkale, Prof.
Hanumant Patil and Dr. Manisha Taware were the
judges for the Junior college level competition.

Release of the First Issue of TCC Chronicle
The first issue of TCC Chronicle, a quarterly newsletter in English, was released on the occasion of the
inauguration of Moropant Intercollegiate Debate and Elocution Competition by Hon. Arhatdas Shah-Saraf,
President, AES, Hon. Hemant Nikam, Dy. District Collector as the chief guest in the auspicious presence of
Hon. Yogesh (Bhaiya) Jagtap, Mayor, Baramati Municipal Corporation, Hon. Jawahar Shaha-Wagholikar,
Secretory, AES, Principal Dr. Chandrashekhar Murumkar and Prof. Sachin Gadekar, editor-in-chief.
It is a first step forward to inform the latest news and progress of the college. The idea is to publish it
quarterly.
Celebration of Hindi Divas
Hindi Divas was celebrated on 24th September 2016 by the department of Hindi. The purpose was to
promote and propagate the Hindi language. The event was also a patriotic reminder to Hindi-speaking
populations of their common roots and unity. Prof V. N. Bhalerao, Head, Department of Hindi, SPPU, Pune
was the chief guest and Dr. Ranjana Nemade, Vice Principal, was the president of the Programme. Dr. thPradeep Sarvade, HOD introduced the guest & Dr. Pratibha Jawale proposed the vote of thanks. On 14
September faculty and students visited 'Vasundhara Krishi Radio' Station and aired various programs on
behalf of Hindi Divas.

Inauguration of English Language and Literature
Association (ELLA) 2016-2017
Department of English runs 'English Language & Literature
Association' to provide a platform to students to develop
their latent talent. It also intends to enable students to
acquire various language skills and motivate them for
reading and appreciating literature. ELLA organizes
various activities throughout the academic year including
Essay writing, Poem recitation, Speech making,
Storytelling, Enacting scene, Appreciation of a poem,
short story, and novel etc and Laughter channel. Dr.
Madhuri Gokhale, Ferguson college, Pune was the chief
guest for the inauguration of ELLA 2016-2017. After the
programme guest lecture was also arranged for PG
students. Mr. Sushil Deshmukh is the co-ordinator of
ELLA.
No Motor Vehicles Day
As it is decided the college has observed 'No Motor
Vehicles Day' on 14th September 2016. On that day
all teaching and non-teaching staff used either
bicycle or preferred walk. All have a strong belief
that this small initiative will inspire all for a new
beginning to save our mother Earth.

Reading Inspiration Day
As it is decided by the Maharashtra government
Tuljaram Chaturchand College celebrated, former
President APJ Abdul Kalam's birth anniversary as
'Reading Inspiration Day' (Vachan Prerna Din) on
15th October 2016.The key objective of the day is to
ensure that students get inspired by late APJ Kalam's
distinguished life. Hon. Mrs. Dr. Aruna Dere, a well-
known Marathi Poetess and critic was the chief guest
for the programme, who emphasized on the
important role of reading in human life. Dr. Ranjana
Nemande, vice principal, welcomed the guest and
also introduced the programme. Dr. Shivaji Sathe,
vice principal, Prof. Maruti Kokare, vice principal,
Prof. Rajani Surve, vice principal (Jr.), Mr.
Abhinandan Shaha, Registrar, faculty members and
students were present on the occasion.
Campus interviews were conducted in the college to provide jobs to students pursuing or in the stage of
completing the programme. In this programme the representative of different industries such as TCS,
Cummins, Microcare, OmVsab, Devnet, GlobalThought & Thoughtpad visited the college and selected
many students on their ability to work, capability, focus and aim.

One Day Workshop organized by Department of Computer Science
Department of Computer Science organized a one day workshop on “IT Preparation” on 28th Sept. 2016 for M.Sc. and MCA students for developing their professional skills required in IT sector. Mr. Abhishek Dhawan, CEO and Founder of FEELSOFT INFO Solution pvt. Ltd., Baramati was the Resource person. Prof. Upendra Choudhari, HoD, welcomed the guest and Prof. Shaikh S. T. introduced the programme. The resource person shared his views with students on the topics like interview techniques, writing professional CV/Resume, and how to get jobs in different professional fields. In the workshop 36 students participated. Moreover, the department of Computer science also arranged 'Soft Skills Development' programme for PG students.
This was an exchange visit for the project under Indo-
U.S. 21st Century Knowledge Initiative (formerly
known as the Obama-Singh 21st Century Knowledge
Initiative). The University of Massachusetts at
Amherst and the Savitribai Phule Pune University,
Pune has collaboration on research, capacity building
and policy reform to enhance diversity and
excellence, the twin pillars of an inclusive university.
The aim of the project is to dispel the presumed
opposition between equality and excellence in higher
education and make a compelling case for how
diversity and excellence reinforce one another and are
essential to innovation and progress in multicultural
democratic societies. This exchange visit was a one st thweek programme, from 31 October 2016 to 5
November 2016. During this visit Prof Vinayak
Lashkar participated in the Workshop conducted by
the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, &
interacted with the U.S. project participants regarding
the analysis of research data, as well as visited the
surrounding higher education institutions to know
about the best practices in the U.S. higher education.

The different teams of the senior college won various titles at
intercollegiate tournaments
1) Inter Collegiate Korfball (Mixed) Championship-winner
2) Inter Collegiate Basketball (Men) Championship-winner

4) Inter Collegiate Wrestling (Men) Championship-runners up

Cultural Activities
For the all round development of students the college has established cultural department. This department
tries to enhance the latent art capabilities through dance, drama, acting and literary events. Many students of
the college participated in various competitions and also got prizes in Youth Festivals at different levels. Disale
Pranali and Kinikar Prachi won first prize in Classical Instrument (solo) and Western Song (solo) in the District
Level competition organized by Student Welfare Board of Savitribai Phule Pune University on 24th Sept.
2016 at Modern Education Society's College of Engineering, Pune. Prof. Bhimrao Torane is the Chairman of
the committee.
Felicitation of Steeplechase Star Lalita Shivaji Babar
Principal Chandrashekhar Murumkar felicitated steeplechase athlete from the state Lalita Shivaji Babar, who
became the first Indian sprinter in 32 years to reach a track event final at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Lauding her
achievements, principal congratulated her.

Prof. Shashank Mane has been awarded Ph.D in English by Savitribai Phule Pune thUniversity on 10 December 2016 on the Topic The Depiction of the Poor in the Short
Stories of Europe and America under the guidance of Dr. Prabha Sampat.
