Our campus is located in a historically and culturally diverse region where languages and cultures meet to create an enriching learning experience. Given the diverse make-up of our student population, we have created language bridging programs to make it easier for students from non-English backgrounds to get ready for studies at Mount Allison.
These programs are designed for students who need extra time and training to meet the University’s English proficiency requirements, and who would like to benefit from additional academic preparation and transition time before full-time studies.
PATHWAYS TO CAMPUS Even if your level of English proficiency is below our required minimum for an unconditional offer, you may be eligible to participate in one of our Pathway programs toward full-time studies:
THE SUMMER PATHWAY PROGRAM The Summer Pathway Program is a language, academic, and cultural immersion program to be launched in Summer 2021. It is designed to bring together international students headed for Mount Allison and the New Brunswick Community College, so that they can live and study together on our beautiful campus before the start of classes in the fall.
Field trips and activities will introduce students to the history, culture, and geography of Atlantic Canada. The duration of the program depends on a student’s level of English.
Note: This is the recommended path for aviation students who may need additional language training.
ENGLISH ACADEMIC BRIDGING (EAB) The English Academic Bridging program is offered during the academic year. It is designed for students whose English proficiency is just below the University’s required minimum who otherwise meet our academic requirements for full admission.
During their first year, students in the EAB program can take up to three Mount Allison courses, plus two non-credit courses in Academic English and Academic Skills each term.
In addition, they will benefit from peer tutor support and additional academic resources to help them succeed in their transition to full-time studies.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT PROGRAMSAs an international student, there are a number of
programs available to get you started at Mount Allison and to help you transition to the workforce and life in Canada.
The Study and Stay Program has been one of the best experiences during my time here in New Brunswick.
Being part of a cohort of fellow international students pursuing their careers and finding their ‘home
away from home’ in New Brunswick is something that I can never take for granted. These people,
that I now can call friends, help share in my successes and give me advice when I need it most.
