“The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a man who

sowed good seed in his field…He who sows good seed is

the Son of Man, the field is the world, the good seed

the children of the kingdom.” - Matthew 13:24, 37-38

As children of God, we are all “good seeds”. We are

blessed by God with the potential to accomplish much

good in the world. We fulfill God’s plan when we spend

time in prayer every day, use our skills to help others

and share our financial gifts to help build God’s kingdom

on earth. Through our example of gratitude and

generosity we sow “good seeds” on earth and ultimately

help each other get to Heaven!

St. Mary’s Adult & Youth Faith Formation

“Promoting Faith Formation in the Community”

July 18/19 2020

We would like to invite you to our Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) program. This program begins August 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the Small Assembly (1st meeting room across from the church) and we meet on most Thursdays through the beginning part of May. Each of us are on a spiritual journey of faith, and we would like to be of help to you in any way possible.

The sessions are open to anyone who may have a desire to learn more about the Catholic faith. We begin with inquiry period in which you would be invited to ask questions and/or listen to the basics of our Catholic faith; you are not making a commitment by attending these beginning sessions. We will try to address any questions that you might have at these.

Children’s

Liturgy of the Word

Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLW) is an age-

appropriate Liturgy of the Word to be offered soon**

for ages 5 through 8 (who have not received and are

not currently preparing for the Sacrament of Eucharist)

at the 10:00am Mass*.

No pre-registration is necessary. All children are

welcome and encouraged to attend.

The children learn about the same Scripture readings

as the rest of the assembly. They are taught a main

message of the readings and are encouraged to share

that message with their parents after Mass. Children

return to the church before the Liturgy of the

Eucharist.

Volunteers are needed to read the readings. This is a

great opportunity for adults and jr high school/high

school youth to help these eager youngsters learn the

Word of the Lord.

Power of Prayer During the Summer months

let us as parents encourage our children to

remember God in their daily activities. One

way to do this is with prayer starters. These

are simple statements on slips of paper that

give children something tangible to pray for.

Children can draw one slip of paper from a jar

each day or each week. For example: Dear

God, today I am worried about (happy about,

sad about, etc.); O God, what I most need to

day is. . .; Dear Jesus, help me today to be kind

to (patient with, helpful to, etc.)

The greatest motivation to prayer we can give our children is our own prayerfulness. Our willingness to take time to pray and our prayerful attitude in the home says more than words ever could.

August 9, 2020: Golden Wedding Jubilee Canceled The Office of Marriage and Family Life has cancelled

the 37th Annual Golden Wedding Jubilee Mass originally scheduled for Sunday, August 9, 2020 with

Archbishop Thompson presiding. The population normally attending the mass is in the 65+ age range and considered high risk. Out of prudence, we are

cancelling this year's event. We still plan to have next year's wedding anniversary event on August 29, 2021

at 2:00 pm at SS Peter and Paul Cathedral.

tentatively scheduled for Sept. 5 2020. Plan

to pre-register and pre-pay this year. More
