Each June some of the most talented high school students in the U.S. get an opportunity many kids fantasize about—the chance to perform on a Broadway stage! These triple-threat teens sing, dance, and act at the Jimmy Awards, a musical showcase at the Minskoff Theatre. It’s the culmination of the Broadway League Foundation’s National High School Musical Theatre Awards program, a nationwide celebration of arts in schools involving more than 140,000 students.
You can get in on the act! Search “Jimmy Awards” on YouTube to watch Jimmys nominees perform. And catch the 2020 Jimmy Awards LIVE on Monday, June 29 at 7:30pm ET. Visit JimmyAwards.com/live for information.
Many Jimmys alums have gone on to perform on Broadway. Examples this season include Andrew Barth Feldman and Josh Strobl (Dear Evan Hansen), Reneé Rapp and Kyle Selig (Mean Girls), Eva Noblezada (Hadestown), Antonio Cipriano (Jagged Little Pill), Christian Thompson (Ain’t Too Proud—The Life and Times of the Temptations), and Tyler Eisenreich (West Side Story).
