DRUMLIN FARM CAMP Discover. Explore. Be Outside.
2020
We inspire campers ages 4–17 to discover
local habitats, connect with the natural
landscape, and develop great friendships—
a tradition we’ve maintained since 1956.
We seek to foster a lifelong bond between
campers and the land through carefully
designed camp activities and outdoor
exploration. At the heart of our camp are
three leading concepts:
Community Campers feel free to try new things and make new
friends in our welcoming, supportive community.
Interdependence Campers learn about natural cycles and the
interconnectedness of people, agriculture, wildlife,
and habitats.
Stewardship Campers learn how they can care for the world
around them as they discover the importance of
wild spaces and the benefits of sustainable farming.
Welcome to Drumlin Farm Camp!

THE PROGRAMDevelop your leadership skills by
working alongside our counselors,
and sharing your love and knowledge
of nature with younger campers. Each
session you’ll be assigned an age
group to work with for the full one to
two weeks, enabling you to develop
bonds with campers as you assist
with camp programming.
Daily meetings will give CITs a
chance to create a community,
share experiences, develop job
skills, and learn more about nature
and agriculture. Ongoing feedback
from our staff will help you find and
develop your individual teaching and
leadership styles as you create new
lessons and assist with games, songs,
crafts, and wacky camp fun. In addition
to being a great résumé builder, all hours
spent volunteering may be able to count
toward community service requirements
(varies by town).
CITs develop skills including:. Problem-solving. Organization & group management. Leadership. Listening & communication. Safety awareness. Team- and community-building
CIT TrainingTo provide the fullest experience, we
host a mandatory CIT training June
25–26. During that training, you’ll learn
about child development, safety, and
best practices for working at camp.
Camp staff lead trainings and offer
mentorship to CITs to
supplement their
development. Plus,
we’ll have a
campfire and
s’mores!
Counselors-in-TrainingEntering Grades 9–12
12
Commitment A two-session commitment is required
to participate. Additional sessions may
be attended at no charge. CIT sessions
overlap with our three two-week Nature
Camp sessions, and one Farm Mania
session (August 10–14).
CAMP STAFFOur camp staff is comprised of
dedicated and mature educators,
naturalists, and college students
who are looking for more than "just
a summer job." They have experience
working with youth, knowledge of (and
a passion for) nature and farming, and
a deep commitment to sharing that
connection with children.
Many of our counselors are camp
alumni who help foster a shared
love of our sanctuary and belief that
it is a special place where magical
things happen. Our tight-knit staff
community creates a more cohesive
and enjoyable experience for our
campers. It’s easier to pass on a smile
when you have one yourself!
TRAININGFrom day one, we foster a sense of
community and compassion amongst
our counselors. Each counselor brings
something unique and valuable to the
camp experience, and by nurturing
their varying teaching styles and ideas,
we enrich our camp, year after year.
Counselors are trained in child
development and supervision, health
and safety procedures, natural history,
farm animal care, and environmental
education best practices. All are
CPR and First-Aid certified and have
undergone background and reference
checks. In addition, we have a licensed
nurse at Drumlin Farm, access to
an on-call doctor, and EMS services
within one mile.

Meet Our
Camp Staff
I just wanted to say that I am thoroughly impressed with the quality
of staff you had working with kids this summer. Their kindness and
respectful and positive language when speaking to children is much
appreciated and makes the overall experience awesome.

Mass Audubon protects more than 38,000 acres
of land throughout Massachusetts, saving birds and
other wildlife, and making nature accessible to all. As
Massachusetts’ largest nature conservation nonprofit,
we welcome more than a half million visitors a year to
our wildlife sanctuaries and nature centers. Today, Mass
Audubon is a nationally recognized environmental
education leader, offering thousands of camp, school,
and adult programs. With more than 135,000 members
and supporters, we advocate on Beacon Hill and
beyond, and conduct conservation research to preserve
the natural heritage of our beautiful state. We welcome
you to explore a nearby sanctuary, find inspiration, and
get involved. Learn how at massaudubon.org.

My child enjoyed everything! I don’t know what you
all did, but it was delightful to come to pick up a
child who was calm and happy. At peace with himself
and the world. You all are doing something right!
