ESL Communication + English in Use Apply your language skills in real-life situations in the community with a focus on understanding Canadian culture.

ESL Communication + Business CommunicationImprove the skills you will need for developing business ideas and relationships in an international context. The focus is on written and oral skills needed for business proposals and product pitches.

ESL Communication + Marine BiologyYou will explore Nova Scotian marine life and habitats through laboratory and field work. You will take trips to rocky shores, canal systems and a boat trip to observe whales and seals.

ESL Communication + Teaching in English As an experienced elementary, secondary or post-secondary teacher, you will improve your ability to teach through the medium of English.

ESL Communication + Intro to Sustainability: Exploring the Ecological FootprintYou will examine the environment and learn about reducing environmental impact. The course includes use of the Ecological Footprint tool, trips to a LEED-certified building, and in-class opportunities to create sustainable household products. 

ESL Communication + Engineering and the Environment You will explore engineering principles applied to problems related to buildings, the natural environment, natural resources and technology.

ESL Communication + Web DevelopmentYou will learn key web concepts including website creation, hypertext markup languages, style sheets, client-side programming, and multimedia foundations. This class also introduces dynamic content management.

ESL Communication + Chronic Conditions ManagementYou will examine chronic condition management through face-to-face interviews with community organizations, review of key articles, and rich discussion with an interprofessional perspective.

ELECTIVE COURSES Academic courses associated with the Summer in English program are unique and are not directly equivalent to Dalhousie University credit courses. However, all students will receive a certificate upon successful completion which you may present to your university or future employer.

NOT INCLUDED IN THE FEE: International travel and incidental expenses.

WeekendsEnjoy organized day trips to natural attractions, historic and cultural sites in different regions of Nova Scotia.
