Dear Parents and Students:

The new school year is fast approaching and I hope you are as excited as I am! After a year of uncertainty, and new

challenges, it is great to be able to reflect on what we have learned, rebuild for a brighter future, and rise to meet the

new challenges ahead of us. We are thankful to have the opportunity to work together as staff, parents, and students to

we make this year a fantastic one.

Fall sports and registration for school are right around the corner. As we begin another school year, I want to share my

appreciation to all the parents for supporting our students in their education. In addition, we are committed to ensuring

quality communication to O’Leary’s students and parents through various means, such as PowerSchool, the O’Leary web

page https:/ol.tfsd.org/, and the SchoolMessenger App. We want to partner with you in providing the education our

students need and deserve. Please make sure your information in PowerSchool is current, especially your email since

this will be the primary form of communication.

We will continue to be faced with a lot of new challenges this year, and it will require all of us to be creative and flexible.

Our district has approved a plan with an emphasis on safety and providing as much face to face instruction as possible.

Please check out the plan on https://www.tfsd.org/tfsd-operational-covid-protocol/ if you haven’t already.

We have the same start time for this school year. The first bell to let students in the building will be at 8:35. The tardy

bell rings at 8:40. On Mondays (our Collaboration Days), the school day ends at 2:50. Busses will run at that time and we

ask that students be picked up before 3:00 if you provide transportation. The rest of the week, the school day will end at

3:51. Our PrimeTime advisory class will be during our lunch block in the middle of the day again this year (except for

Mondays). Students will be able to come in and buy breakfast in our cafeteria beginning at 8:05. Students should not be

on campus before 8:00 in the morning – we do not have supervision in place.

To make drop off and pickup safer for our students the striped area in the circle driveway is for drop off and pick up only

– please do not park in this area and wait for your student. If you need to circle around until they come out to meet you

please do so.

In order to create effective bus routes, it is important for the bus company to understand what services are needed for

each student each year. If you are planning to utilize the bus you must register for this service. You can find the link on

To get more involved in the education of your child, I invite all parents to be active in our Parent Teacher Student

Organization (PTSO). Parents can sign up to volunteer as part of the PTSO at registration. I also invite all students to get

involved in a fall sport or extracurricular activity. New opportunities will be available to join school clubs once the school

year is underway. Students who get involved in such opportunities do better in school and feel more part of the school

community. Information for fall sports are enclosed. I am looking forward to an excellent year! Please carefully read the

important information included about upcoming registration and events.

Sincerely,

Ace Marcellus

Principal

Vera C. O’Leary Middle School
