Dear Parents and Caregivers, School Swimming Carnival I was thrilled to attend my first Boambee Swimming Carnival! Mr Shipman did an amazing job with his organisation and we had wonderful support from parents – well done everyone! It was particularly pleasing to see strong participation in the 50m and 25m events. The only disappointment of the day was the students defeating the teachers in the relay – we can’t wait for the Athletics Carnival so we can try and square the ledger! Some of our students have qualified for the Toormina Carnival on Tuesday – best of luck to all of our swimmers competing. Thank you for your attendance at the parent/teacher interviews. Partnerships between home and school are vital in ensuring a quality education is delivered to your child/ren. If you have been unable to make a time, please contact your child’s teacher. I have been impressed by the feedback I have been receiving from parents when speaking to you about how the year has started for your child/ren. I am endeavouring to speak to you all and I hope to do so by the end of week 8. It’s been the week for firsts as I also attended my first P&C meeting on Monday night. I’m always thankful to have such dedicated parents to work with in raising funds for our school and in particular, our students. If you do have some time to spare, come along to the next meeting to see how you can help. We are always looking to increase numbers and if you are a parent and new to Boambee, please come along and meet our P&C at the next meeting – you don’t even have to volunteer for anything! In the coming weeks, you will be sent information about a survey that will assist us to develop our school plan (mentioned in last week’s newsletter). Students will also be completing a survey, unless you request that they don’t. It is great to be among a proud community including a community that supports wearing our school uniform with pride. It is wonderful to see all of our students in their full school uniform including black shoes and our school hat – well done everyone! Brad Lyne Principal Swimming Champions Congratulations to our 2015 Boambee School Swimming Champions and competitors. It is wonderful to see the competition between our students so strong but approached with such a healthy attitude. The participation, effort and sportsmanship displayed by all students was outstanding. Thank you to all parent helpers, you made the day run smoothly. 2015 Records The standard of swimming and participation at this year’s carnival was excellent. Healthy competition resulted in many records being broken.
