    A SECURITY alert was issued inDelhi and NCR region ahead ofRepublic Day after an ITBPInspector Generals SUV, withblue beacon atop, was stolenfromoutsidehisrentedhouseinNoida in the early hours ofWednesday.

    The vehicle, a white TataSafari, was stolen at about 3.48am Wednesday from a gatedcolony in Noida Sector 23, saidpolice. The vehiclewas allotted

    to Anand Swarup, IG(Provisioning) of the IndoTibetan Border Police (ITBP)Force. Swarups driver hadparkedthevehicleonthecolonyroadandnotinsidethepremisesof his residence, said thepolice.

    Noida police alerted neigh-bouring states about the theft.Delhi Police too were taskedwith trackingdownthevehicle.InthewakeofrecentPathankot

    attack, and Republic Day, addi-tional precautionarymeasuresare being taken, said a DelhiPoliceofficial.

    Swarup,a1992-batchIndianPolice Service officer of UttarPradesh cadre, said he came toknow of the theft in themorn-ing. I immediatelymade a PCRcall and informed the NoidaPolice. Yesterday (Tuesday), IcamebackfromanNIA(NationalInvestigation Agency) functionin Delhi andmy driver parkedthe vehicle outside the houseand left, he told The IndianExpress. I have recently got a

    Hyderabad University, accord-ing to sources.

    The fournameswere short-listed by a search-cum-selec-tion panel headed by NationalAssessment and AccreditationCouncil (NAAC) director D PSingh.

    Chauhanwas also a leadingcontender for the post, saidsources. Kumar has completedhis Masters and PhD from IIT-

    ADELHIcourthasrefusedapleatodirectthepolicetoregisteranFIRagainstChiefMinisterArvindKejriwal for allegedly exhortingvoters to take bribe from theCongressandtheBJPandvoteforAAP in the 2015 assembly elec-tions.

    "In the given case, the ac-cused(Kejriwal)hasnotofferedany gratification to voters forcasting votes in favour of hisparty.Hehasmerelystated thatallurements are generally of-fered by some parties and if of-

    fered this time, do not refuse itbut cast votes in favour of hisparty.Hehimselfhasnotofferedany gratification in lieu of cast-ing votes in favour of his party,"said Metropolitan MagistrateBabruBhan.

    Inmy considered opinion,no offence is made out againsttheaccused.Hence,theapplica-tion of the complainant underSection 156(3) of the CrPC andthe complaint is hereby dis-missed," themagistrateadded.

    THREEPEOPLEwereburiedaliveinMunirkaTuesdaynightwhenadumper truckcarrying tonnesof wet mud lost control andemptieditscontentsontheirve-hicle.

    The incident tookplacenearIITDelhi,when thedriverof thetruck lost control of the vehicle.Ashetriedtobringthetrucktoastop, the mud fell on a MarutiEsteemonthesameroad,bury-ing thevehicle completely.

    The truck was trying toavoid running into anything; iteventuallyflippedandlandedonits side, said AssistantCommissioner of PoliceSomendarPol.

    The car was completelyburied under themud and po-lice had to use cutters to extri-cate the three victims, said thepolice. We managed to getthem out with the help of fire

    brigade personnel.We dug outthe car and thenusedhydrauliccutters to pull them out, headded.

    The victimswere identifiedas Rajesh Suri, the owner of aprintingbusiness,andhisassoci-ates RupeshMehta and BabluMehta. All threewere residentsofGovindpuri, said thepolice.

    Rajesh,whowas driving thecar, was on his way back homefromNoida, said thepolice.

    Theywere rushed to AIIMStraumacentre,wheretheyweredeclareddead,thepoliceofficialadded.

    The truck driver and hishelper fled the spotafter the in-cident, said thepolice.

    Acaseof causingdeathdueto negligencewas registered atSafdarjungEnclavepolicestationandasearchisunderwaytonabthedriver, said theofficial.

    ThetruckhasaHaryanareg-istration number and its owneris being questioned, said thepolice.
