SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER JUNE 2, 2019

My Dear Parishioners,

Praised Be Jesus Christ! Over the past several weeks, we’ve been blessed with a number of happy moments for our parish family. I owe a hearelt thanks to all who made the Picnic/Reunion and Mass in the Park such a wonderful experience. Not only was it a beauful day weather-wise but what’s more it was a wonderful day people-

wise! So well organized and planned from top to boom. And what’s more, so many unplanned graces throughout the day. The friendships, encounters and graces connued to be shared and I connue to be amazed at what God can do, of what God did! Of course, God works through people. And I take this opportunity to extend special thanks to the commiee that made it possible: Anne Williams, Terri Forte, Jo Beth Thompson and Phyllis Tavoni-Smith. Well Done, Ladies! And thanks to ALL who helped them, especially our Jubilee Commiee. Pictures of the day connue to be shared and a video will be available shortly.

On the heels of the Sunday Picnic, we had our Memorial Day Celebraon. Special thanks to Michael and Madeline Curry, Judy Glavin and Doug Hostetler for arranging our parcipaon in the Parade. Another great day weather-wise and people-wise as well. Of course, being in the parade is a lot different than watching it on the side-lines. When watching it on the side-lines, you see the whole parade. Being in it, you miss out of the parade, but it showed me our beauful town and all the people along the way. And all I can say is WOW! It was really neat seeing and hearing all the people along the way, each person created by God, each person loved by Him, each person redeemed by Him and each one precious in His sight. How beauful it is to know that, how beauful it is to share that with others and that’s what we are about. The People of St. Patrick: Sharing the Joy of the Gospel for 150 Years.

Friends, as we turn the half-way mark on this our Jubilee Year this week, now is a good me for us to reflect not only on the event of this year but on the God who enables us to be a part of this me. We’ve had great events: from the Irish Concert, to the visit of the Bishop, the Gala and trip to Ireland, the Reunion and Renovaon….there is so much more planned. But more than more events, there is a more that God desires for all of us, there is a more that He is about externally and internally. And we are called to be that Salt, that Light, that Leaven for our town. How? Through the Holy Spirit.

Next week is the Solemnity of Pentecost, the close of the Easter Season and the beginning of the Church renewed, redeemed, on-mission to the naons. As we remember the Decent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and Mary, we prepare for that same Holy Spirit to fall upon us. The Holy Spirit does prepare us. He prepares us to meet Jesus, He prepares us to be Jesus, He prepares us on the Way. And without Him, we can do nothing. Aware then of all our doings, I invite you to open your heart to the “doings of God” and more specifically to the Holy Spirit who is God Himself.

Pray the prayer to the Holy Spirit that is found in the bullen this week. And next week, join me for a special me of prayer as we will keep watch on the VIGIL of Pentecost for the Holy Spirit’s Coming. We will gather in prayer at 7:30 in our chapel next Saturday Evening to welcome the Holy Spirit into our hearts, our home, our community, our lives. Come and See.

A welcome to Phong our seminarian who is with us now through the summer. May the Holy Spirit who sent him to us, also send us through him many blessings in this special me.

Peace,

Fr. Rogers

PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

Come, Holy Spirit Replace the winter within us with your spring.

Replace the tension within us with a holy relaxaon. Straighten our crookedness.

Replace the turbulence within us with a sacred calm. Fill our empness.

Replace the anxiety within us with a quiet confidence. Dull the edge of our pride.

Replace the fear within us with a quiet confidence. Sharpen the edge of our humility.

Replace the bierness within us with the sweetness of grace. Light the fires of our love.

Replace the darkness within us with a gentle light. Quench the flames of our lust.

Replace the coldness within us with a loving warmth. Let us see ourselves as you see us

Replace the night within us with your light. That we may see You. Amen. 236

REMEMBER WHEN?

Movies were shown on some Friday afternoons for the students in the auditorium of the school.

DID YOU KNOW? With the success of the Teeners League in 1963 a new PeeWee Baseball League for boys 8-

12 was started in 1965. They played on a field on Rte. 41 on land donated by Louis Pia. A Girls Soball League was also established that year. Sixty girls played on those teams on land donated by the Sons of Italy behind their hall on Rte. 1. In 1966 a fourth baseball field was constructed on land donated by Salve Cardile. Sixty men played there in a Senior League.
