From January 1999 to April 2001, Christina O underwent
a complete refurbishment. Now fully restored to her former

Aristotle Onassis became the subject of news media across the globe when he secured
and refurbished what was to become history’s most famous yacht. The mid-50s
marked the beginning of Christina’s alluring attraction to the world’s most celebrated
personalities.

Christina’s beginnings wereinauspicious as a World WarII surplus Canadian frigate.Purchased by AristotleOnassis in 1954 for $34,000,he gutted and converted her into one of the mostluxurious private yachts at a cost of $4 million(equivalent to $45 milliontoday).

The Onassis Suite has a sense of timelessness. From here,
Onassis conducted his business and orchestrated how his
guests should be entertained.
Spacious and magnificently decorated, the Onassis Suite
still has its original fireplace, a Renoir and the original
Baccarat light fittings.

Nowhere on board is this sense of history so apparent as in
Ari’s Bar. The famous bar stools are still there, as well as the
bar handles made of whale fangs, engraved with scenes from
the Odyssey. The entire bar is original.

Admire the magnificent central fire-place, made of massive lapis
lazuli and feel the sense of perfection that all guests experience.
Onassis’ first wife, Tina, was quoted as saying “The yacht is his
real passion. He is constantly looking to see that everything
is impeccable.”

he famous swimming pool that raises up to become a dance floor
has many stories to tell about the people who have danced there.
Onassis also used the pool to store live lobsters for his guests
to eat at dinner.
The bronze-bordered swimming pool still has its original Minoan
mosaic floor, painstakingly restored to its original glamour.
This spacious area is one of the many decks where guests
can dine.
