Technology shapes us even before we are born, impacting how long and well we live. Everything from social relations and movements to politics and what makes us human is mediated by technology. The Social Technology sub-major addresses the urgent need to critically examine the kinds of social problems and possibilities realised in our data-driven, technologised climate. In partnership with DXC Technology, Woodville Alliance, Unboxd, and WSCF, this sub-major enables students to work at the intersections of technology and society, responding ethically to the opportunities and risks of a digitally mediated world. Through practical experience and theoretical knowledge informed by contemporary socio-technical trends, students investigate how technology can be used to support the specific needs of communities, clients, and citizens.
