22 new Jt Secy appointedNEW DELHI, Nov 2:
Former Private Secretaries tothe President and the then HomeMinister L K Advani, PradeepGupta and U K S Chauhan,respectively, are among fournew Joint Secretaries appointedin Home Ministry as part ofmid-level bureaucratic reshuffleeffected by the Governmenttoday.
Besides them, T V S NPrasad and IPS officerSatyendra Garg are other newly-appointed Joint Secretaries inthe Home Ministry. A total of 22new Joint Secretaries have beenappointed by the Government indifferent Ministries.
Gupta is a 1985 batch officerof Indian Ordnance FactoryService (IOFS). This is probablyfirst time when an officer fromIOFS has been appointed in theHome Ministry.
Chauhan, a 1986 batch IASofficer of Kerala cadre, has beenappointed for a period uptoSeptember 27, 2017, when hecompletes a maximum of fiveyears central deputation tenure,an order issued by Departmentof Personnel and Training said.
Chauhan, who is at presentworking as Joint Secretary inDepartment of Food and PublicDistribution, was PrivateSecretary to Advani, who hasalso been Deputy PrimeMinister, for about a year fromJune 2003.
Garg, a 1987 batch IPS offi-cer of Union Territories cadre, is
presently working as SpecialCommissioner (legal cell andresearch) in Delhi Police. He hasbeen appointed to the post forfive years, it said.
Prasad is on compulsorywait in the Ministry of WaterResources, River Developmentand Ganga Rejuvenation.
Manoj Joshi, Joint Secretaryin Department of EconomicAffairs, has been shifted toMinistry of Micro, Small andMedium Enterprises in the sameposition. Joshi, a 1989 batchIAS officer of Kerala cadre, willhave tenure till March 8, 2017,when he completes five yearsCentral deputation period, theorder said.
Abhay Damle, an IndianRevenue Service (Income Taxcadre), has been appointed asJoint Secretary in Ministry ofRoad, Transport andHighways. Ravi Agrawal, alsofrom the same service, hasbeen appointed as JointSecretary in Department ofDisinvestment. (PTI)

Security of underworld donand India's most wanted terror-ist Dawood Ibrahim has beenenhanced in Pakistan after thearrest of his bete noire ChhotaRajan in Indonesia.
Special commandos of thePakistan army have beendeployed at Dawood's resi-dences in Karachi andIslamabad where he has beenliving for more than twodecades after the 1993 serialblasts in Mumbai, sources saidquoting intelligence reports.
The Army commandos weredeployed for the security ofDawood in the wake of the
arrest of gangster Chhota Rajanin Bali on October 25.
Rajan is expected to bebrought to India in next fewdays after completion of hisdeportation formalities inIndonesia.
Earlier in the day, whilebeing taken for questioning inBali, Chhota Rajan told reportersthat Dawood is in Pakistan underthe protection of ISI.
Pakistan so far has beendenying presence of Dawood onits soil. However, India hasmaintained that the most-want-ed terrorist, who is wanted in1993 Mumbai serial blasts case,has his bases in Karachi andIslamabad. (PTI)
