Doubt on Multi provider 29 Sep, 2006 10:26 AMHello All,

We have created multi provider consisting of ODS and Info Cube. Common info objects between ods and cube

are Financial Transaction , Security Id number. A Financial Transaction pertains to single business partner.

And business partner is stored in ODS .

Now requirement is to show business partnerwise breakup through multiprovider based query.

When going through RSRT - Execute + Debug - Multiprovider explain , found that system is excluding access

to the ODS .

How to make sure that system accesses the ODS and displays business partner values in Report ?

Hi Nimesh,

I think that if you have put flag into dentification Tab of Multiprovider for BP from ODS, and you have introduce

Drill Down for BP in query the system have to show you the same and consider it during execution.

If still not showing you nothing please try one of these solution:

1) Complex:Make a Restricted Key Figure /Selection in Column area and introduce your KF - BP - ODS and

set Constant Selection for these (in properties) and execute the query.

2) Simple: Introduce in your query at least one KF from ODS, for example Number of Records.

As per your suggestion , i have checked the identification tab , Business partner comes from ODS only, and

0bpartner is in rows. so i think system should not exclude from the selection.

Regarding other two solution ,

1. First scenario i tried and it is showing number of records from ODS successfully . But not values of business

partner

2. Just by putting number of records from the ODS , the key figure value is blank .

Additionaly some 3 warnings are coming from RSRT DEbug output , as follows

WConstant selection is activated. Figures are bracketed [ ]

WSome key figures have exception aggregation. Figures are bracketed [ ]

WThere are calculated elements. These results are bracketed [ ]

Any further suggestions ??

Awarding point is not working some how , i will award it later.

Do not be afraid of points.







About the problems:

In selection of query (variable pop-up) do you have selection on IO Characteristic that are not in ODS ?

For example you can have Variable on Sales Org and this is not in ODS... If it is the situation try to use this

Selection only at Restricted Key Figure level, otherwise ODS will be held apart. All Variables on CH that are not

in all structures under Multiprovider must be introduced at RKF/Selection level.

Hello Riccardo,

In my case , cube is snapshot of the accounting view 0CFM_C10 for particular date , so in query date field has

to be there in the variable pop up .

The issue is in 0CFM_C10 we do not have business partner. So as an alternate what i tried is every fin.

transaction has business partner, so i have enhanced the infobject 0CFM_FI_TRA and had put 0bpartner as

navigational attribute .

Data has been loaded to 0CFM_FI_TRA successfully and activated successfully.

And now i tried to report on the cube 0CFM_C10 itself , but still business partner is blank , its not populating the

values..

Let me know where am i going wrong .

If you have introduceb BP in your Characteristic like Navigational Attribute and uploaded data for it, if you have

make BP Navigational Attribute also in Cube, if you have introduced BP in query like Nav Attribute and you do

not see the values I have only one more suggestion:

Introduce in a query on 0CFM_C10 the IO 0CFM_FI_TR and display, like dispaly attribute, BP, if you already

do not seen nothing go in RSA1, select Tools, select Hier/Attributes changes --> click on Execute. When the

job has finished execute once again query (remember to logoff and logon again before execute query).

I think i was not following the step "remember to logoff and logon again before execute query."

Its working fine now , but after activating master data for info object ( no. of records may exceed some

thousands ) will it affect system peroformance ??

Also multiprovider doubt is still there, if you have any document on that please forward it . I want to know some

sort of limitation of multiprovider. For multiprovider having 4 cubes , 6 ODS system gives dump

Runtime Error UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION

Except. CX_RSR_X_MESSAGE

In our scenario lots of information is getting captured in the ODSes and now the report is consolidation of all

the information ( cant create infoset as it would eliminate unrelated records ) so how to map it best through

multiprovider .

Hi Nimesh,

Activation of Master Data is necessary to have ocrrect data in query. You need ot activate data and it is better

to schedule this activity after upload of MD and before upload of Transactional Data, otherwise you will have

bad performance in uploading Master Data (the system before check if MD exist for every record).

About error message it is general, but it seems a run-time error. To avoid this problem I suggest you to sent

ODS data in Cubes, with DataMart method, or introduce Secondary Index in ODS on the base of Query

requirements.

Do not use InfoSet, these are killer-performance objects.

Try to use only 10 structures in a MultiProvider and it is better if these are Cubes.

About reporting on MultiProvider this is a very complex question. Generally you have to use Restricted KF with

Variables and Constant Selection for all the objects that are not on every Structure.
