Further to the introduction of a new licensing and kennel inspection process, from 01 May 2021 kennel development grants have been re-categorised into three distinct elements and funding has now been extended to all trainers that have held a training licence for 12 months or more. Grants now available are set as below. The maximum funding available is on a pro-rata basis as per the maximum kennel capacity established when a training licence is issued. The following grants and maximum funding levels are available:Kennel Development and Improvement Three grants are available:

1) Development Grant - for trainers whose kennels meet GBGB / NSF standards and who would like to upgrade their facilities for the benefit of the greyhounds in their care.

2) NSF Non-Compliance Notice – this grant is available to make corrective improvements to kennel facilities highlighted by an NSF inspection and detailed within the non-compliance notice issued.

3) Improvement Notice – this grant is available to make corrective improvements to kennel facilities following a GBGB kennel inspection and detailed within an improvement notice issued by a stipendiary steward.

Maximum Funding Levels:The maximum grant available to a trainer is based on the maximum kennel capacity established when a training licence is issued: Kennel Capacity

• BAND A - kennel capacity from 1 to 10 £2,000• BAND B - kennel capacity from 11 to 24 £4,000• BAND C - kennel capacity from 25 to 49 £6,000• BAND D - kennel capacity from 50 to 79 £8,000• BAND E - kennel capacity of 80 + £10,000

REVISION OF GBGB KENNEL DEVELOPMENT GRANTS

GBGB has published amendments to its Rules of Racing as part of its drive to continue raising welfare and integrity standards under the Greyhound Commitment.The Rules of Racing amendments, which are detailed in full in this edition of the Calendar, follow the 2020 GBGB licensing review and introduction of new external residential kennel inspections by NSF International. Key amendments include:

• Rule 212 & 213: It is now a requirement of the licence that trainers must read, understand and be compliant with the PAS 251 – Specification for Trainers’ Residential Kennels. Developed in partnership with animal welfare organisations, veterinarians, government and industry specialists, the PAS covers all aspects of caring for a racing greyhound from diet, exercise and environmental enrichment to kennel specification and construction.

• Rule 53 & 195: There are new criteria for disqualifying a greyhound for deliberate interference. The requirement to obtain a signed declaration from the trainer has been removed whilst the trainer (or their representative) must now be given the opportunity to present any mitigation they feel is relevant during a review of the interference. The deadline for submitting the details of a disqualification to the National Form Database has been extended to the end of the meeting.

GBGB will no longer be printing or distributing the Rules of Racing in a physical format. The Rules of Racing will now be moving online onto a dedicated website. This includes a search function as well as an archive of all previous versions. The new website is also mobile optimised, allowing licence holders to view Rules of Racing wherever they are. The Rules of Racing website can be found on the GBGB website under the ‘Rules and Regulation’ heading or at https://rules.gbgb.org.uk/.Paul Illingworth, GBGB Senior Stipendiary Steward, said: “We are pleased to launch our new Rules of Racing website today. By transferring over to this digital platform we can ensure that everybody is viewing the same issue and can search and print relevant sections. The fact that it is mobile optimised too should make it far easier for trainers and kennelhands to use whilst away from their kennels. This should likewise prove helpful for our own Stewards. “We encourage all trainers to read the Rule amendments announced today and become familiar with the new website. Any trainers with questions regarding the amendments should contact their Area Stipendiary Steward.”

c. all reasonable steps are taken to ensure that Greyhounds kept in Licensed Kennels are maintained in good and healthy condition and are kept secure and that facilities and services necessary to those ends are provided in accordance with the directions of the Greyhound Regulatory Board.

i. One Racing Manager.ii. Two other Local Stewards, of

whom one can be a Judge and the other a Timekeeper.

iii. One Paddock Steward.iv. One Hare Controllerv. One Startervi. One Veterinary Surgeon being a

member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons or veterinary practitioner whose name appears on the supplementary veterinary register maintained by the said college.

vii. One Greyhound Welfare Officer, who shall be a senior member of the Racecourse management and will be a named point of contact for Greyhound welfare on the Racecourse premises.

Any person appointed as a Director of Racing, Kennel Manager or Assistant Racing Manager or any additional Official in any of the above positions shall, before taking up any duties, obtain a Licence from the GBGB.No person may undertake any duties until he/she has obtained the relevant Licence from the Greyhound Regulatory Board.Licensed Official shall mean a Licensed Official appointed in accordance with the provisions of this Rule.---------------------------------------------------Rule 8 Categories of Licensed TrainersAmendmentReplace current Rule with the following.Amended RuleThe following shall be the categories of a Professional Greyhound Trainer licensed by the GBGB.

i. Band A - Kennel capacity from 1 to 10

iii. At least three of the Local Stewards shall agree about the decision to disqualify any greyhound which deliberately interferes.

iv. The Local Stewards shall inform the trainer or their representative of the result of the review.

The Local Stewards shall make a public announcement of any disqualifications.The Trainer shall inform any other Racecourse, at which such a

inoculations as may be prescribed by the Greyhound Regulatory Board. Such inoculations shall be by vaccines which are licensed for use in the United Kingdom.A Greyhound in Licensed Kennels shall be required to have had full inoculations against:

i. Distemper;ii. Viral Hepatitis;iii. Leptospira Canicolaiv. Leptospira Icterhaemorrhagiae;v. Parvovirus;

and any other required vaccination as shall be notified from time to time. Booster inoculations shall be required at twelve-Monthly intervals from the date of the initial Puppy inoculations. Before any Puppy is earmarked by the GBGB it shall have completed a primary vaccination course in accordance with the vaccine manufacturer’s instructions by a Veterinary Surgeon against, in particular, Distemper, Viral Hepatitis and Leptospirosis (first dose) and Parvovirus.Earmarking should only be carried out following these vaccinations to enable the immune responses to vaccination to become more effective. Adult greyhounds presented to race or trial without a valid vaccination record require a primary and secondary vaccination as per manufacturer’s guidelines for a specific vaccine.---------------------------------------------------Rule 106 GBGB, Stipendiary & Local Stewards - accessAmendmentRemove “or in the case of Owner Trainers their residence” from the first and second sentence.Amended RuleThe GBGB, its Managing Director, members of the Greyhound Regulatory Board, the Director of Regulation, Members of the Disciplinary Committee, duly authorised representatives of any of them and GBGB Stipendiary Stewards shall have free access to all places used for the conduct of Trials and Races, to all Licensed Kennels and to all records connected with Greyhounds. The Local Stewards shall have similar powers in respect of the Racecourse for

which they are licensed and in respect of the Licensed Kennels of that Racecourse’s attached Trainers and of any other Trainers who enter Greyhounds for Races at that Racecourse.---------------------------------------------------Rule 110A Security of Racing PaddockAmendmentAdd “or” between “Local Steward” and “Paddock Steward” in the first sentence. Remove “or Security Officer” from the first and third sentence.Amended RuleA Local Steward or Paddock Steward shall examine each individual Racing Kennel and materials* to be used therein for a Meeting, and all other parts of the Racing Paddock immediately before the Greyhounds enter for Kennelling and shall ascertain that all is secure and in satisfactory condition.*Bedding used in Racing Kennels shall be supplied by the Racecourse Executive. Trainers may bring additional bedding for their Greyhounds at the discretion of the Racing Manager.From the time of such examination until after the last Trial or Race at least one Paddock Steward shall be present in the Racing Paddock, and shall ensure that all entrances are, except while in use under the surveillance of a Paddock Steward, kept locked.An additional Paddock Steward or other Licensed Official shall be appointed where necessary to assist the Paddock Steward in carrying out his/her duties under this and succeeding Rules.---------------------------------------------------Rule 113 Kennelling and weighing procedureAmendmentRemove “or Security Officer” from part (ii). ii. At the same time of identification and weighing, a separate specific Racing Kennel shall be allocated without set pattern to each Greyhound, recorded, and explicitly intimated to the Trainer

or Kennelhand attending it and to the Paddock Steward supervising the Racing Kennels and such allocation shall not be notified to any unauthorised person.

v. Immediately after the veterinary inspection, a Greyhound not withdrawn shall be placed in the appropriate Racing Kennel by the Trainer or Kennelhand under the surveillance of the Paddock Steward or other Licensed Official. A quantity of water supplied by the Racecourse, and of an amount agreed by GBGB, will be placed in the Racing Kennel at this time and in a vessel supplied by the Racecourse. The Kennel shall then be locked and all Kennel keys shall be retained by the Paddock Steward.

---------------------------------------------------Rule 114 Access to Racing KennelsAmendmentRemove “or Security Officer” from the first sentence.Amended RuleAfter a Greyhound has been kennelled no person shall have access to the Racing Kennel except with the authority of and under the surveillance of the Paddock Steward or Security Officer or Veterinary Surgeon, and in the presence of the Trainer or Kennelhand, except in an emergency.---------------------------------------------------Rule 115 Paddock procedure before Trial/Race, Jacket/Muzzle inspectionAmendment

i. The Local Stewards or the licensed Veterinary Surgeon or the GBGB Stipendiary Steward shall have power at any time to order any examination of and/or test and the taking of samples for test and/or analysis from, any Greyhound which is due to take part in or has taken part in any Trial or Race at, or which is in any Licensed Kennels. Samples shall be taken only when so ordered. The taking of a sample for analysis may or may not result in a Preliminary Investigation.

iii. While a person’s Licence is suspended or withdrawn by virtue of any other provision of these Rules, save with the prior approval of the GRB or Director of Regulation he/she shall not be employed or carry out any duties or engage in any activities in any licensed capacity or otherwise in connection with GBGB Greyhound racing at any GBGB Licensed Racecourse or Licensed Kennels and no Greyhound of which he/she is the Owner or Trainer shall be entered for or run in any Trial or Race or be kept in any Licensed Kennels.

Rule 195 Greyhound Detail Reports - procedure, contentReason for amendmentTo allow local stewards more time to consider the decision on whether a greyhound should be disqualified or not.AmendmentAdd the word “meeting” after the word “race” and “trial” in the second sentence of sub section (iii).Amended Rule

iii. Disqualification for Deliberate Interference in a Race or Trial, or satisfactory participation in a Clearing Trial. This shall be reported within the same deadline as that for the record of the Race meeting or Trial meeting concerned. It shall be reported only by the Racing Manager or his/her deputy.

---------------------------------------------Rule 212 Minimum Requirements for all residential Licensed Kennels and Transportation of Greyhounds

i The trainer must read, understand and be compliant with PAS 251 – Specification for greyhound trainers’ residential kennels.

ii The following shall be minimum requirements for all residential Licensed Kennels:

a. Each Greyhound shall be accommodated in secure Kennels with not more than two Greyhounds housed in each unit.

b. Greyhounds in all public places shall be muzzled correctly and securely and kept on a lead and shall not be exercised in parks or other public recreation grounds.

c. When Greyhounds are being transported the Trainer will be responsible for the safety and welfare of those Greyhounds. This will include suitable restraint and adequate air management to ensure their well-being at all times, including when the vehicle is stationary. See Appendix II.

d. Children under the age of 15 years shall not be in charge of a Greyhound.

e. The keeping of any other live animal, bird, rodent, etc that

could be used in any way for training, coursing, etc., or the use thereof, is forbidden absolutely at all Licensed Kennels.

f. Precautions taken to prevent and control the spread of infectious or contagious diseases shall include the provision of adequate isolation facilities. Isolation Kennels shall be single Kennels of not less than 2.3 metres (7 feet 6 inches) depth by width 1.0 metre (3 feet 3 inches) with a small separate paddock, provided in the ratio of one isolation Kennel to every 12 Greyhounds and shall be entirely separate from the main Kennels.

g. The GBGB shall be informed of any extensions or construction of new Kennels (including exercise area) and written approval shall be obtained before works commence. All proposals for such works shall be submitted to and approved by the Local Authority, for both Planning Approval and/or Building Regulations Approval as may be necessary.

h. Any breach of the above requirements may result in the suspension of the Trainer’s Licence. An inspection fee shall then be payable before any new application for a Licence is considered.

ComplaintsThe Greyhound Board of Great Britain will receive complaints in confidence from anyone concerned about a possible breach of the Rules of Racing. - CORCASS LIBERTY - Professional Traine Miss Linda Brown

Professional Trainer Miss Linda Brown was found in breach of rules 152(i) and (ii), 174(i)(b), 214 and 217 of the GBGB Rules of Racing in that a pre-race urine sample taken from the greyhound CORCASS LIBERTY at Yarmouth stadium on 19 August 2020 was analysed by LGC Health Sciences which identified the presence of meloxicam, a ketoprofen metabolite, codeine and oripavine and that she had in her charge a greyhound which showed the presence of a substance that could by its nature affect the performance of a greyhound or prejudice its well-being.Professional Trainer Miss Linda Brown was in attendance. Marcus Westgate, racing manager of Yarmouth Stadium, Robbie Steward Stipendiary Steward, and Professor Tim Morris, independent scientific adviser, were also in attendance.On 19 August 2020 at Yarmouth Stadium a pre-race urine sample was taken from CORCASS LIBERTY, a greyhound trained by Miss Brown, which, upon analysis by LGC, was shown to contain meloxicam, a

ketoprofen metabolite, codeine and oripavine. The Disciplinary Committee heard evidence from Professor Tim Morris that meloxicam, ketoprofen metabolite, codeine and oripavine were all substances which by their nature could affect the performance of a greyhound or could affect the well-being of a greyhound. At a local inquiry held on 26 October 2020 Miss Brown had said that the only way these substances could have come to be in the greyhound would have been in the meat that was fed. No source was identified at the local inquiry for the codeine or oripavine. The Disciplinary Committee were given evidence that Miss Brown fed her dogs with Category 2 meat.Professor Morris gave evidence to the effect that the levels of meloxicam and the ketoprofen metabolite, taken separately, were below the Screening and Residue Limits set by the Board but were reported because of the decision by the Board to report findings of two or more non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) below screening levels. This was to avoid misuse of two or more NSAIDs in attempts to reduce individual levels below the screening or residue limits. In this case Professor Morris advised that the most likely source of exposure to meloxicam and ketoprofen metabolite was the feeding of Category 2 meat.In the opinion of Professor Morris the most likely source of the codeine and oripavine was food contamination by the straw of the opium poppy or poppy seeds. This could have occurred during the manufacturing,

distribution or retail sale of the surplus cereals used by Miss Brown. Professor Morris advised that the diversity and quantum of substances identified was consistent with food contamination.The Disciplinary Committee concluded that on the balance of probabilities the source of the meloxicam and ketoprofen metabolite was the Category 2 meat used by Miss Brown and the source of the codeine and oripavine lay in the cereals purchased by her.The Disciplinary Committee noted that the GBGB recommends only the use of Category 3 meat and that feeding Category 2 meat might be regarded as an aggravating factor in an Inquiry. On the other hand this was the first breach of rules found against Miss Brown and she reported she had now changed her meat supplier, feeding only Category 3 meat and moving from beef to chicken and turkey.The Disciplinary Committee found Miss Brown to be in breach of rules 152 (i) and (ii), 174 (i)(b), 214 and 217 of the GBGB Rules of Racing and ordered a caution and a penalty of £200.

2 Doncaster Stadium - POOKIES CHICAGO - Professional Trainer Mr Martin Haythorne

Professional Trainer Mr Martin Haythorne was found in breach of rules 152(i) and (ii), 174(i)(a) and 217 of the GBGB Rules of Racing in that a post-race blood sample taken from the greyhound POOKIES CHICAGO at Doncaster Stadium on

14 September 2020 was analysed by LGC Health Sciences (LGC) as containing the presence of naproxen and that he had in his charge a greyhound which showed the presence of a substance that could by its nature affect the performance of a greyhound or prejudice its well-being.Mr Haythorne was in attendance. Nathan Sheppard, Racing Manager of Doncaster Stadium, Peter Rosney Stipendiary Steward, and Professor Tim Morris, independent scientific adviser, were also in attendance.The Disciplinary Committee heard evidence from Professor Morris to the effect that naproxen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). All NSAIDs have the potential to induce adverse reactions, some of which can be life-threatening. A number of NSAIDs are commonly used in dogs although naproxen is not generally used. There is both prolonged excretion in dogs, and they are also extremely sensitive to its side-effects. While Professor Morris was not aware of any studies that showed naproxen could in itself affect the affect the performance of the greyhound, the alleviation of symptoms by naproxen could have an indirect effect on performance by mitigating the adverse effects of any pain or inflammation. In his opinion naproxen is a substance which by its nature could affect the performance of a greyhound or could prejudice the well-being of a greyhound.At a local inquiry held on 23 November 2020 Mr Haythorne was at a complete loss as to how the greyhound had come into contact with the substance but did suggest that in his opinion the only place it could have happened was whilst the greyhound was kennelled at the track. Following notification of the positive sample Mr Haythorne had monitored movements in and out of the kennel block and concluded that there were significant periods of time when the racing kennels were left insecure and unattended.Professor Morris advised that the analysis by LGC was unable to confirm the time or quantity of the exposure to naproxen by the greyhound. It could be a small dose shortly before the race or a larger dose some days or even over a week previously. Naproxen was not licensed for use in animals and should not have been ingested from feed and the Committee concluded that ingestion via feed was unlikely.

He advised that naproxen was only generally available in the UK in the form of pills although naproxen in gel form could be bought overseas. In light of this the Committee considered ingestion via a pill the most likely source of the drug in the greyhound.While Mr Haythorne alleged that the kennels at the stadium were left unattended during races the Committee were provided with a letter from Mr Michael Smith, racing manager at Doncaster, saying that the paddock stewards were experienced and knew to keep all kennels locked and never to leave the paddock areas unattended. In any event the Committee thought the possibility of the naproxen being ingested at the stadium either by accident or by administration by a third party unlikely. While it was acknowledged that work on flooring was in the course of progress at the stadium at the time, the Committee thought it unlikely that the dog could have eaten a naproxen pill taken from one of the workmen.Mr Haythorne made no suggestion that the naproxen might have been ingested by accident at his own kennels but had confirmed at the local inquiry that he had himself been prescribed naproxen in 2019.The Committee noted a quite exceptional improvement in performance by POOKIES CHICAGO between his race on 2 September 2020 and the race on 14 September 2020 and Mr Haythorne was unable to explain this improvement. There was then a worsening of form later in 2020 and while Mr Haythorne put this down to heavier going in winter the Committee were unconvinced. Having regard to the above, the Committee concluded that on the balance of probabilities naproxen had been administered to POOKIES CHICAGO. Accordingly, the Disciplinary Committee found Mr Haythorne to be in breach of rules 152 (i) and (ii), 174 (i)(a), and 217 of the GBGB Rules of Racing and ordered a severe reprimand and a penalty of £500.

3 Pelaw Grange Stadium - ARIZONA BLUE - Greyhound Trainer Mrs Jan Little

Professional Trainer Mrs Jan Little was found in breach of rules 152( i) and (ii), 174 (i) (a), 214 and 217 of the GBGB Rules of Racing in that a urine sample taken from the greyhound ARIZONA BLUE on 13

December 2020 was analysed by LGC Health Sciences as containing the presence of caffeine, theophylline and paraxanthine and that she had in her charge a greyhound which showed the presence of a substance that could by its nature affect the performance of a greyhound or prejudice its well-being.Mrs Little was not in attendance as she was recovering from illness. David Gray, racing manager of Pelaw Grange Stadium, Dave Baldwin Stipendiary Steward and Professor Tim Morris, independent scientific adviser were also in attendance.Mark Bird on behalf of the GBGB reported that Mrs Little had consented to this hearing taking place in her absence.On 13 December 2020 at Pelaw Grange Stadium a post-race urine sample was taken from ARIZONA BLUE, a greyhound trained by Mrs Jan Little which upon analysis by LGC was shown to contain caffeine, theophylline and paraxanthine.At a local inquiry held on 15 February 2021 Mrs Little explained that she had acquired the dog in August 2020 at a time when he was in poor condition. She therefore fed him treacle bread and tea each night to improve his weight and condition. She realised that this was a breach of the rules but said that anything she did was to help the welfare of the dog. Professor Morris gave evidence to the effect that exposure to caffeine and its subsequent metabolism can also produce a finding of theophylline and paraxanthine which are metabolites of caffeine. In his opinion caffeine and theophylline were mental and cardiac stimulants, and also bronchodilators and so substances which by their nature could affect the performance of a greyhound or could prejudice the well-being of greyhound. In his opinion the presence of caffeine and theophylline in the urine sample taken from the dog ARIZONA BLUE were consistent with exposure via tea. The levels found were likely to have an effect on performance.The Disciplinary Committee concluded that Mrs Little had knowingly administered tea which might affect the performance of a greyhound and was therefore in breach of rules 152 (i) and (ii), 174(i) (a), 214 and 217 of the GBGB Rules of Racing. The Disciplinary Committee heard in mitigation that Mrs Little was a long-standing

Professional Trainer and looked after her dogs well. The Committee ordered a caution and a penalty of £300.

LOCAL INQUIRIES

1 Central Park Stadium – HEATHERMORE

At a local inquiry held by the Area Stipendiary Steward on 19 January 2021, the Racecourse Executive at Central Park were cautioned and fined £600 for a breach of Rule 73,129,130, 142 & 152(i) for allowing the greyhound HEATHERMORE to be placed into a vacant trap at the start of the 10.46 race on 2 November 2020 and to declared race result final.At the same inquiry kennelhand Miss Sadie Curtis was cautioned for a breach of Rule 129 & 152(i) for the same offence.

2 Central Park Stadium – OUR UNIQUE JODIE

At a local inquiry held by the Area Stipendiary Steward on 15 January 2021, the Racecourse Executive at Central Park were cautioned and fined £200 for a breach of Rule 52, 152(i) & (ii) for allowing the greyhound OUR UNIQUE JODIE to race at Central Park on 17 February 2020 when not qualified to do so due to a weight variation.

3 Kinsley Stadium – AUGHRIM PERENARA

At a local inquiry held by the Area Stipendiary Steward on 23 March 2021, professional trainer Mrs Beverley Heaton was cautioned and fined £200 for a breach of Rule 69A for the Non-Arrival of her greyhound AUGHRIM PERENARA for a race at Kinsley Stadium on 14 February 2021.

4 Monmore Green Stadium – SCULLYS AUSSIE

At a local inquiry held by the Area Stipendiary Steward on 24 March 2021, professional trainer Mr Craig Marston’s explanation was accepted in respect of the improved performance of the greyhound SCULLYS AUSSIE at Monmore Green Stadium on 29 December 2020. Opening and starting at 11/4, the greyhound had won a 480m race recording a calculated time of 28.44 seconds as compared with its best recent time of 29.99 seconds recorded in a race on 19 December 2020.

5 Monmore Green Stadium – POLLY GONE

At a local inquiry held by the Area Stipendiary Steward on 6 April 2021 professional trainer Mr Chris Fereday was fined £150 for a breach of Rule 49(iv) in respect of the improved performance of the greyhound POLLY GONE at Monmore Green Stadium on 22 March 2021 and his failure to use his best endeavours to ensure that the performance of the greyhound was to the satisfaction of the Stewards. Opening at 5/1 and starting at 7/1 the greyhound had won a 480 m race recording a calculated time of 28.83 seconds as compared with its best recent time of 29.74 seconds recorded in a race on 3 March 2021.

6 Monmore Green Stadium – RUTTMAN DYNAMO

At a local inquiry held by the Area Stipendiary Steward on 4 January 2021, the Racecourse Executive at Monmore Green Stadium were cautioned and fined £500 for a breach of Rule 115(i) for failing to identify the greyhound RUTTMAN DYNAMO when the greyhound was presented to the Paddock Steward prior to the race at Monmore Green Stadium on 4 December 2020, the greyhound was then allowed to contest the A7 event, however the greyhound for that race should in fact have been SKYFALL BILKO.

7 Monmore Green Stadium – MINNIES PETROF

At a local inquiry held by the Area Stipendiary Steward on 24 March 2021, the Racecourse Executive at Monmore Green Stadium were cautioned for a breach of Rule 129 for allowing the greyhound MINNIES PETROF to be placed into the starting traps with its overcoat still on at Monmore Green Stadium on 18 January 2021 causing the race to be declared void.At the same inquiry kennelhand Mr Jason Maybury was cautioned for a breach of Rule 129 for the same offence.

8 Newcastle Stadium – HAVANA TOPPER

At a local inquiry held by the Area Stipendiary Steward on 31 March 2021, the Racecourse Executive at Newcastle Stadium were reprimanded and fined £1000 for a breach of Rule 138, 152(i) & (ii) for recording the incorrect trial time for HAVANA TOPPER at Newcastle

Stadium on 19 March 2021, the greyhound had recorded a time of 29.34 for the 480m trial but was mistakenly entered in the greyhounds formline as 29.70

9 Newcastle Stadium – RIDGEDALE POLLY

At a local inquiry held by the Area Stipendiary Steward on 16 March 2021, professional trainer Mr Stephen Atkinson was cautioned and fined £150 for a breach of Rule 69A (b) for the Unauthorised Withdrawal of his greyhound RIDGEDALE POLLY from a race at Newcastle Stadium on 9 March 2021.

10 Perry Barr Stadium – JOYFUL JANE

At a local inquiry held by the Area Stipendiary Steward on 3 March 2021, professional trainer Mr John Smith’s explanation was accepted in respect of the improved performance of the greyhound JOYFUL JANE at Perry Barr Stadium on 11 January 2021. Opening at 6/1 and starting at 8/1, the greyhound had won a 480m race recording a calculated time of 29.48 seconds as compared with its best recent time of 30.10 seconds recorded in a race on 23 November 2020.

11 Romford Stadium – GETGOIN JOEY

At a local inquiry held by the Area Stipendiary Steward on 16 March 2021, greyhound trainer Mr Martin Allen’s explanation was accepted in respect of the withdrawal of his greyhound GETGOIN JOEY from a Category 3 Final at Romford Stadium on 11 December 2020, without producing a valid Veterinary certificate, the Area Stipendiary Steward found that the Veterinary Surgeon had sent the certificate to an incorrect email address for the Romford racing office.

12 Sheffield Stadium – MISS ROSE DRAPER

At a local inquiry held by the Area Stipendiary Steward on 20 March 2021, assistant trainer Miss Rose Draper was cautioned for a breach of Rule 152(i) & 174(xii)(a) in respect of acting in an improper manner towards a Local Official at Sheffield Stadium on 13 March 2021.

13 Sheffield Stadium – MR JAMIE SMITH

At a local inquiry held by the Area Stipendiary Steward on 8 March 2021, professional trainer Mr Jamie Smith was reprimanded for a breach of Rule 18(ii) in respect of failing to inform the Greyhound Board of Great Britain of the change of ownership and retirement details of several of his greyhounds during 2019/2020.

14 Sheffield Stadium – DOBBYS FREE

At a local inquiry held by the Area Stipendiary Steward on 18 February 2021, the Racecourse Executive at Sheffield Stadium were reprimanded and fined £700 for a breach of Rule 115(i) &152(i)(ii) for allowing the removal of the greyhound DOBBYS FREE trained by Miss Kirsty Grayson from the racing kennels at Sheffield Stadium on 23 January 2021 by Mr Carl Perry causing the greyhound to be withdrawn from its intended raceAt the same inquiry professional trainer Mr Carl Perry was cautioned for a breach of Rule 115(i) & 152(i)(ii) for the same offence.

15 Towcester Stadium – SWEET LEAF

At a local inquiry held by the Area Stipendiary Steward on 18 March 2021, the Racecourse Executive at Towcester Stadium were reprimanded and fined £600 for a breach of Rule152(i) & (ii) and 174(vi) in respect of the circumstances surrounding the withdrawal of the greyhound SWEET LEAF as off colour from an Open Race at Towcester on 2 March 2021 and the greyhounds’ subsequent trial at Monmore Stadium on the same date and the entry in an Open Race at Swindon Stadium on 7 March 2021At the same inquiry professional trainer Mrs Emma Richards was cautioned and fined £200 for a breach of Rule 152(i) & (ii) and 174 (vi) for the same offenceBoth the racing office and trainer admitted making a false declaration in withdrawing SWEET LEAF as off colour

16 Yarmouth Stadium – WRONG OFF TIMES

At a local inquiry held by the Area Stipendiary Steward on 10 March 2021, the Racecourse Executive at Yarmouth Stadium were caution and fined £250 for a breach of Rule 152 (ii) in respect of running races nine and ten on 24 February 2021 at Yarmouth Stadium with the wrong off times.

17 Towcester Stadium – MR PAUL SHORE

At a local inquiry held by the Area Stipendiary Steward on 20 March 2021, professional trainer Mr Paul Shore was cautioned for a breach of Rule 152(i) & 174(xii)(a) in respect of acting in an improper manner towards a Local Official at Towcester Stadium on 28 February 2021.
