There are many interesting developments that have occurred in the last few months, the most important of which was the appointment of VDO Consulting, a Gauteng based Architectural firm with extensive experience in hospital development, construction and commissioning in both the private and public hospital sector.

This has resulted in many improvements to the current design and will ensure that the final product is of world standard that we have emphasised from the beginning of the project.

Together with the Department of Health (DOH) requirements and changes requested by VDO Consulting there has been some delay which in turn has moved the date of opening into early 2017.

The Department of Health is due to do the final inspection late November 2016.

The principal contractor, Liviero Building, have been provided a very tight completion schedule which will ensure that the project is completed timeously. Every effort is being made by the new principal agent, VDO Consulting to ensure that the deadlines are being met.

All specialists and allied health suites have been finalised and leases signed.Additional suites that have been leased at our properties on 35 Barnard Rd( the current temporary offices of the Management Team) as well as 8 Elsie Rd. We are pleased to announce the latest acquisi-tion being 24 Barnard Rd. All the properties have been purchased in close proximity to the Hospital. A Contractor and architect have been commis-sioned to renovate these buildings.The Radiology, Pathology laboratory and coffee shop lease as well as Service Level

Agreement with the casualty service provider has also been signed.

We are pleased to advise that all the Unit Managers, Marketing Officer, Head Chef, Accountant and Technical Services assistants have been employed. In November the follow-ing positions will be filled: IT Technician, Payroll Administrator , Theatre Stock Control-ler and Surgical Buyer.

Laundry, kitchen and nursing personnel will be employed in December.

The large percentage of employees will be employed from 2nd January 2017 to minimise HR costs.

All employee recruitment will be completed by November 2016 to ensure that the hospital opened timeously in early 2017. Induction, training and orientation will be done in December.

Months of scrutiny and research has gone into the selection of various service providers. We are pleased to announce the appointment of Superclean for overall hospital cleaning. Imvula Security, Kimberley Clark for Hygiene Products, Sharpmed for Medical Waste and Air Liquide contracts have been and/or are being signed at present .

All procurement of beds and equipment, including instruments for the wards and

theatres have been finalised and purchased and are being installed in keeping with the deadlines for commissioning.All curtains, curtain rails, loose furniture as per our Interior Design Architect, Peter Weedon specifications have been ordered and will be fitted over the next two months.The South African Pharmacy Council has approved the layout of the Pharmacy and the licence should be issued by the National Department of Health within the next month Inshallah (God willing). The Pharmacy/ Hospi-tal Dispensary fixtures and fittings have been finalised to be complete in November.

The lay-by has been given the go ahead on King Cetshwayo Highway and the Air Liquide tank should be installed soon.

Permanent power has been installed to the site and all the necessary tests are being carried out to ensure Certificates of Compli-ances throughout the hospital.

The main reception area and Emergency Department were redesigned to improve the flow and meet the requirements of a world class facility.

The water tanks, generators, diesel tank and heat pumps have been installed and are being tested.

The laundry and kitchen are being completed and the necessary requirements are being finalised by our chef and facilities manager.

Linen and staff uniforms have been finalised and orders have been placed for delivery in November.

WOur Nursing Services Manager, Pharmacy Manager and IT Officer travelled to Dubai in August to visit 2 hospitals using the MIMSYS Hospital Information System that has been purchased by Ahmed Al-Kadi. This software i.e. MIMSYS in partnership with Sage and supervised by Datacentrix, is the first installation in South Africa hence had to be localised and customised as per our require-ments. The software team from MIMSYS Bangalore will be providing support until the hospital is up and running and for a few months thereaf-ter to ensure that hiccups will be swiftly attended to.Suraiya Vaizie and Peter Weedon have produced a new logo for Ahmed Al-Kadi. IMA Golf DayThe Islamic Medical Association of South Africa’s Durban Branch hosts a fundraising golf day annually to aid in providing

much needed funds to the IMA’s clinics project.

These clinics are based in Braemer, Marianhill, Malukazi, Inchanga & the two IMA mobile clinics.

The MIMSYS teamMIMSYS is a software system designed for hospitals to automate nursing processes, requisitions, billing and maintenance work

orders. This streamlines the admission to discharge process whilst ensuring patients receive the attentive care they need.
