Dr. Lluís Blanch Torra Scientific Director of the Corporació Sanitària Parc Taulí – Hospital de Sabadell. Director of the Universiity Institue Fundació Parc Taulí
Lluís Blanch is Degree in Medicine and Surgery and specialist in Intensive Medicine. Leading researcher in the field of acute respiratory failure, during his professional career he has collaborated in international researches: 1987-88 in Meakins Christie Laboratories of the McGill University of Montreal (Canada) with a postdoctoral grant from the Catalan Government (Generalitat de Catalunya) and the Quebec Government; 1997-98 he got a grant of the Spanish Healthcare Ministry at the University of Minnesota in the USA.
He is currently leading a multidisciplinary group of researchers at the Translational Research Laboratory of the Corporació Sanitària Parc Taulí. He is working on technological innovation projects related to the remote data transmission in mechanical ventilation.
He has held several positions of responsibility in scientific societies of surgery and he is reviser in governmental agencies. He is member of several editorial committees of technical magazines and has published more than 100 articles, writer of more than 60 chapters in specialized books, editor of 5 books and he has received funds for 36 research project as main researcher, collaborator or responsible.
Dr. Nicola Di Lorenzo Assistant Professor of Surgery - University of Rome-Tor Vergata. Rome, Italy
Nicola di Lorenzo is Ph.D. in Microsurgery and minimally invasive techniques. His training was in New instrumentation in miniinvasive surgery and Internet and biomedical research, residency program of Digestive Surgery and Surgical Endoscopy, postgraduate course on Minimally invasive Surgery and Microsurgery in emergency at the University of Rome-Tor Vergata.
He is member of the Steering Committee of the SMIT; member of the International Advisory Board of SLS (Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons); Member of the technology Committee of EAES; counselor and member of the technology Committee of the Italian Chapter of ACS; and councellor of the SICTeCA (Italian Society for surgical technology). Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, EAES, SLS, SIC-Italian Society of Surgery, SICE-Italian Society of Endoscopic Surgery.
He has organised national and international meetings on new technologies in Surgery and is author of more than 140 scientific papers and videos published on national and international Journals, mainly focused in the field of minimally invasive surgery and new technologies.

Turgut Durduran is Ph.D. in Physics: “Non-Invasive Measurements of Tissue Hemodynamics with Hybrid Diffuse Optical Methods” by the University of Pennsylvania, PA, USA.
He is Assistant Professor of the ICFO-The Institute of Photonic Sciences in Castelldefels (Barcelona).
Prior positions include Joint Appt. with the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Pennsylvania, Research Associate and Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Deptment of Radiology, of the University of Pennsylvania.
He has gained important honors, scholarships, grants and patents. He has more than 15 invited talks and has collaborated in more than 50 publications and papers.
Dr. Xavier Gómez Batiste Institut Català d’Oncologia. Barcelona, Spain
Xavier Gómez-Batiste is PhD in Medicine, Specialist in Internal Medicine and Oncology and expert in Palliative Care. His principal research fields are: planning and organisation, evaluation and improvement of quality, and mulcentrical research studies.
He is Director of the Observatory ‘Qualy’ of Palliative Care – WHO Collaborating Center for Palliative Care Public Programs in the Catalan Institute of Oncology. He is Scientific Director of the Programme of Integrated Care for very ill People and their families of the Obra Social de La Caixa, and Director of the MA in Palliative Care of the University of Barcelona.
Prior positions include Corporate, Educational and Training Director of the Catalan Institute of Oncology, Head of Palliative Care Service of the Catalan Institute of Oncology and President of the Spanish Palliative Care Society (SECPAL). Dr. Sebastià Sallent Ribes I2Cat Technological Center. Barcelona, Spain
Sebastià Sallent is Telecommunications Engineer by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC).
He started working in the private sector (Philips) and then changed into the public sector training and researching in the UPC. He was Director of the Telematic Engineering Department of the UPC and is currently Director of the i2CAT Foundation. The i2CAT Foundation is a center of research and innovation, which focuses its activities on the development of the future Internet.
His research areas include Internet, high-speed optical networking, integration of fixed-mobile and the service quality. He has participated in several Spanish, European and International projects as FEDERICA, Phosphorous, ESA, @DAN, ATDMA, or European Excellence Networks as EURO, FGI, EURO-NF and EURO-FI, dedicated to the Internet of the Future.
He has been continuously active in research with more than 100 publications.

Richard Satava, MD, FACS, is Professor of Surgery at the University of Washington Medical Center, and Senior Science Advisor at the US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command in Ft. Detrick, MD.
Prior positions include Professor of Surgery at Yale University and a military appointment as Professor of Surgery (USUHS) in the Army Medical Corps assigned to General Surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Program Manager of Advanced Biomedical Technology at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA),
His undergraduate training was at Johns Hopkins University, medical school at Hahnemann University of Philadelphia, internship at the Cleveland Clinic, surgical residency at the Mayo Clinic, and a fellowship with a Master of Surgical Research at Mayo Clinic.
He has served on the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) Committee on Health, Food and Safety. He is currently a member of the Emerging Technologies and Resident Education, and Informatics committees of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), is past president of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), past president of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons (SLS), and is on the Board of Governors of the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) as well as on a number of surgical societies. He is on the editorial board of numerous surgical and scientific journals, and active in numerous surgical and engineering societies.
He has been continuously active in surgical education and surgical research, with more than 200 publications and book chapters in diverse areas of advanced surgical technology, including Surgery in the Space Environment, Video and 3-D imaging, Telepresence Surgery, Virtual Reality Surgical Simulation, and Objective Assessment of Surgical Competence and Training.
During his 23 years of military surgery he has been an active flight surgeon, an Army astronaut candidate, MASH surgeon for the Grenada Invasion, and a hospital commander during Desert Storm, all the while continuing clinical surgical practice. While striving to practice the complete discipline of surgery, he is aggressively pursuing the leading edge of advanced technologies to formulate the architecture for the next generation of Medicine.
