U.S. ITER Communications Activities of Partner Labs

Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory

• Has taken lead in establishing Fusion Communications Group, spearheading magnetic fusion communications collaboration with colleagues at major research institutions. Partners include General Atomics, ITER International, MIT Plasma Science and Fusion Center, ORNL, PPPL, and the USIPO. Group met via teleconference in September.

• Includes ITER brochure in info packages; discusses ITER during tours and news interviews. Includes ITER section in PPPL DVD “Fueling the Future” and on traveling poster board at community events.

• Includes ITER section on PPPL web site, with info and links to International ITER and U.S. Contributions to ITER.

• Features articles/updates about ITER and ITER staff in PPPL newsletters.

Upcoming U.S. ITER Communications Activities

• Working with communications consultant Dale Meade to develop additional outreach materials appropriate for multiple audiences (teachers, other science organizations, Congressional representatives and staffers, general public).

• Updating large USIPO exhibit for display at 2010 AAAS annual meeting (February 18–22, San Diego). Also developing plan and schedule for most effective use of all exhibits.
