Attention: For reservations to ensure convention rate, call 317-299-8400 using code “Council of the Blind”.
We want to invite you to join us at this year’s convention where there will be something for just about everyone. We’ve included a tentative agenda for the weekend and a convention registration form, which you can share with others.
If you plan to stay at the Waterfront Hotel, please call the number above to make your reservations. The room rate is $95.00 (plus tax) per night for single or double. The deadline for making room reservations at the convention rate is October 5, 2018.
There are two registration choices. One is $80.00 for the convention only or $90.00 for the convention and a tour of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway “Kiss the Bricks” and museum. Registrations need to be sent in by October 15, 2018. You can also register online at acb-indiana.org and your registration can be put on a credit card.
On Friday evening, we’re looking forward to our keynote speaker, Peter Berg from the Great Lakes ADA center in Chicago. We’re excited to have Trisha Zorn Hudson as our banquet speaker on Saturday evening. Trisha is a Paralympics gold medalist in swimming with over 50 medals.
There will be several activities and presentations throughout the weekend to ensure everyone has fun and learn something new. You don’t want to miss visiting the exhibit hall where we’ll have over 20 vendors and exhibitors. A sample of our vendors are: Eye Can See, Indiana Talking Book and Braille Library, Bosma Enterprises, Easter Seals Crossroads, IU School of Optometry, American Printing House for the Blind and more!

SEYMOUR NOON LIONS SPUD LAUNCH
The Seymour Noon lions will be hosting the first annual spud launch competition May 4th 2019.
The event will be held at Freeman Field Park on Saturday May 4th 2019, starting at 10 a.m.
Cost will be $10 per team. We are looking for inventive, resourceful groups who would like to show their creativity in a fun,
explosive, competitive, and all out crazy event.
Trophies will be awarded to the winning teams for most points scored in their category.
Proceeds from this event will go to fund scholarships for Jackson County High School Seniors.
We would love for you to put together a team and join us for a fun day at the park.

SPUD LAUNCH RULES • All participants must be 12 or older • Youth teams will consist of 4 to 5 members • All youth teams must have an adult sponsor ( 1 adult can sponsor
up to 3 teams)
• Adult teams will consist of 3 to 5 members all 18 or over • All teams must register at least 1 week in advance • All team members must wear head protection when in the
launching field ( helmet, hardhat, etc.) • All teams must build their own launcher no premanufactured
launchers • All launchers must be inspected before each round • Only approved propellants in original cans ( Hair spray or cooking
spray) • No wraps around spuds, spuds must be loaded directly into
launcher • Teams will be launching at a target 100 yds away • Shots must be elevated no horizontal shots • Teams will be given 3 shots in each round • Teams will have 3 min. to load and make each shot
SPUD LAUNCHER GUIDELINES
• Barrel must be between 5 and 10 feet in length • Barrel must be made of 1 1/2", 2", or 2 1/2" schedule 40 plumbing
PVC • Launcher must have a threaded breach plug • Launcher must be glued together with PVC cement • Igniter must be internal flint or electronic ignition • Propellant must be hair spray or cooking spray in original
container, no pneumatics
