25 October 2019 Dear Parents/Guardians, Assalamu Alaykum WRWB, Welcome students and parents to Term 4. This is perhaps the busiest and the shortest Term of the academic school year. There are many academic, sporting and co-curricular events scheduled culminating with the examinations, reports and presentations across the three campuses (see below). Yearly examinations have commenced for Year 10 students and Years 7-9 will begin their examinations on Monday, 11 th November. World Teachers’ Day The aim of World Teacher’s Day is to emphasise the significant role of teachers world wide. Our teachers play a crucial part in our society as they guide, nurture and teach our children …. our present, our future. This momentous occasion was celebrated across all campuses with morning teas. So a huge thank you to all the wonderful, dedicated and hardworking teachers af Malek Fahd Islamic School. Thank you to our Wellbeing, SRC and Admin team for the organisation of the scrumptious morning teas. LMA Teachers Appreciation Award Ceremony I am delighted to announce that at the Inaugural Teachers Appreciation Awards Ceremony (TAAC) hosted by the LMA, Malek Fahd Islamic School won the award for Excellence in Sports. Ms Jihan Bahri, Education Project Officer of LMA, presented the appreciation plaque to the School this week. Islamic Pedagogy Professor Mohamad Abdalla, Dr Nadeem Memon and Mr Dylan Chown of Centre for Islamic Thought, University of South Australia visited our School to discuss Islamic Pedagogy and how it can be translated into the Curriculum at MFIS. On Saturday, Professor Abdalla and his team will have the opportunity to meet with the Board, PAC and other members of the School community to have further facilited group discussions. NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Assalamu Alaykum WRWB,

Welcome students and parents to Term 4. This is

perhaps the busiest and the shortest Term of the

academic school year. There are many academic,

sporting and co-curricular events scheduled

culminating with the examinations, reports and

presentations across the three campuses (see below).

Year 7 Orientations

Year 7 Orientations will commence next week and I

look forward to meeting and welcoming the students

and parents. Please note: All Year 7 parents are

invited and are encouraged to attend these

information sessions.

Following are the dates for the Year 7 Orientation Days:

Greenacre – Thursday, 31st October at 9.00am

Beaumont Hills – Tuesday, 5th November at 9:30am

Hoxton Park – Friday, 8th November at 9:00am

HSC Examinations

Year 12 commenced their Higher School Certificate

Examinations on Thursday, 17th October with English

Paper 1. Sheikh Fawaz and I greeted the students on

the first day and Sheikh opened with prayer. For MFIS

students, their HSC will conclude on 11th of November

and the HSC results will be available on 17th of

December. Please continue to keep them in your

thoughts and prayers.

School Uniform

Students at Malek Fahd Islamic School are required to

wear the correct school uniform every day.

Unfortunately, many students have been breaching

the dress code this Term. We ask students to abide by

these rules. It is imperative that boys’ haircut is short,

neat and one level. Shirts must be tucked in and ties

worn. Girls are required to have their hijabs pinned

under their chin (not loosely). Shirts tucked in, make up

and jewellery should not be worn to school. Students

that breach our policy will be placed on an after school

detention. If uniform violations persists students may

receive a school suspension.

Re-Enrolment Forms

All parents are reminded to submit their child/ren’s Re-

Enrolment forms to the Administration Office as soon

as possible to secure their enrolment for 2020.

School Fees

The School year is quickly coming to an end. All parents

are reminded that the final Term’s School fees is now

due. Please finalise any overdue accounts immediately.

2020 Term Date

Please be advised the following are the dates of

schooling for 2020. These dates have been published

on the school website.

Term 1 - Wed, 29th January to Thu, 9th April 2020

Term 2 - Tue, 28th April to Fri, 3rd July 2020

Term 3 - Tue, 21st July to Fri, 25th September 2020

Term 4 - Tue, 13th October to Fri, 4th December 2020

Parents are requested to make an appointment for

fittings and uniform purchases via calling on 0498 518

916 or email [email protected]. You are

also welcome to purchase uniforms online at your

convenience. Your order will be filled when the store is

next open.
