Guntur Division has been in the forefront of adopting innovative ideas, techniques and processes in delivering quality service with a single motto of enhancing passenger satisfaction. For us “Serving customer with a smile” is not a mere goal but the means of the Division. This Division serves Guntur, Prakasam and Kurnool of Andhra Pradesh State and Nalgonda district of Telangana State. The total number of stations are 76, out of which 70 stations are opened for passenger traffic over Guntur Division. Guntur Division has one “A” class station(Guntur). 2 “B” class stations (Nandyal and Nalgonda), 13 “D” class stations, 42 “E” class stations and 12 “F” class stations ie., Halt stations. The Earnings of Guntur Division under various heads have been showing a steadily increasing trend. Guntur is the most important station in this Division and 44.2 % of the total passenger earnings come from Guntur station alone. On an average, a total number of 39 express and 63 passenger trains are being run every day.

Passenger earnings:

Passenger earnings account for 39% of the total earnings of the Division.

An upward trend in passenger earnings has been maintained with an impressive growth of 9.27 for the year 2016-17 (i.e., 132.81 Crores as against 121.54 crores in the corresponding period of 2015-16 and 9.16 % in the current year (upto the end of July-2017) i.e., 52.88 Crores as against 48.44 crores in the corresponding period of 2016-17.

Goods:

Cement, Clinker, Food grains, Cotton seed husk are the main outward

commodities loaded on this Division. There are seven private sidings of which, India Cement Siding at VNUP is the major goods loading terminal contributing 61.03% share in goods earnings (cement & clinker) during the year 2016-17.

A total of 484 rakes were loaded during the year 2016-17 as against the 635 rakes loaded during the corresponding period of last year and a total of 146 rakes were loaded in current financial year to the end of July-17 as against the 164 rakes loaded during the corresponding period of last year.

Goods earnings registered Rs.188.07 crores during the year 2016-17 as against the 259.87 crores corresponding period of last year and in current financial year to the end of July-17 registered an earnings of Rs.61.55 crores

Sundry Earnings:

Sundry Earnings of Guntur Division for the period April’16 to March’17

is 8.06 Crores as against 6.79 Crores during the corresponding period of the previous year registering an increase of 18.70%. The detailed sundry earnings are:

Commercial publicity earnings are Rs 85.13 lakhs compared to previous year earnings of Rs 76.02 lakhs registering an increase of 12.00 %.

Catering earnings are Rs 89.15 lakhs compared to previous year earnings of Rs 83.37 lakhs registering an increase of 6.9 %.

Parking earnings are Rs 87.58 lakhs compared to previous year earnings of Rs 75.74 lakhs registering an increase of 15.6 %.

ATM earnings are Rs 16.66 lakhs compared to previous year earnings of Rs 9.87 lakhs registering an increase of 68.8 %.

Ticket checking performance:

Intensive and sustained ticket checking drives over the Division have realized Rs.544.06 lakhs during the year 2016-17 as against Rs.502.3 lakhs of the corresponding period of last year.

The Division has adopted innovative measures and to serve the

passengers always in a better way. The following are some of the initiatives taken in this regard.

Facilities for Divyang Persons over GNT Division

Provision of standard Ramp for barrier free entry. Parking lot with Non slippery walkway. Signages of appropriate visibility. Drinking water tap suitable for disable persons. One Toilet on the ground floor .

Facilities to be provided for Divyang persons :

Divyang facilities have already been made available at all A & B category stations ( Guntur, Nandyal & Nalgonda ) of Guntur division . Now facilities for Divyang persons have been extended to 50% of D, E & F Category stations i.e 34 stations of Guntur Division. Accordingly work has been sanctioned under LSWP 17-18. Estimate was vetted and issuing of Tender notification is under

process.

Innovations/System improvements

1) Mobile ticketing facility during Krishna pushkarams:

During Krishna Pushkarams In Guntur Division the Mobile Ticketing Van

(General Tickets-cum-enquiry), an innovative concept, first of its kind over South

central railway, was introduced to issue general tickets from two UTS systems provided in the van and attending enquiry at the door steps of the passengers near

Ghats. Regular announcements were made through PA system by commercial staff about the issue of general tickets in the mobile van and created awareness among pilgrims. The innovative move taken by Guntur Division, served the needs of

passengers at large i.e enquiry facility to four lakhs passengers and 9339 passengers availed the ticket booking facility through mobile van, fetching an earnings of Rs.6,17,342/- for a period of 12 days from 12th to 23rd August 2016.

The Mobile Ticketing Van covered various locations of Pushkar Ghats i.e., Amaravati, Mangalagiri, AIIMS/ Mangalagiri, Seetha Nagar &Gorantla and played

a vital role in bringing Railways much closer to passengers which enhanced the image of Railways in general and S.C.Railway in particular. The innovative concept received accolades from all classes of people and the same was covered by

electronic and print media, which in turn gave widely publicity duly appreciating the innovative measures taken by Railways.

2) Mobile ticketing facility at Hosanna Ministries, Gorantla:

Keeping the success and the accolades that received by Guntur Division from public, print and electronic media for its Innovative idea of the mobile ticketing cum

enquiry van during the Krishna Pushkarams 2016, Guntur Division re-introduced the idea by taking a new leap into the Innovation by inviting Public cum Private Partnership(PPP).

When the Hosanna Ministries approached Railways for providing General ticket counter at their Convention Centre, Gorantla, they were explained in detail about the

new Innovative concept of mobile ticketing van and its advantages rather than setting up of traditional ticket counters and requested to provide a mobile van at free of cost. Impressed by the new Innovative idea, Hosanna ministries readily provided a

spacious mobile van and in turn Railways arranged 4 UTS counters with spare thin clients, printers, UPS backup, Standby power supply generator & PA system in the mobile ticketing vehicle and stabled the mobile ticketing van at Hosanna Ministries

Annual Convention Centre, Gorantla, Guntur from 02.03.17 to 05.03.17 and arranged railway general tickets cum enquiry facility to pilgrims at their door steps.

The innovative concept of mobile ticketing van was once again patronaged by pilgrims and widely appreciated by print and electronic media. Total 6,778 tickets issued to 12,612 passengers during the above convention from 02.03.17 to 05.03.17,

fetching an earnings of Rs.6,04,205/-.

From the above earnings , it is evident that the mobile ticketing van is a huge

success with its low cost operation through Public cum Private Partnership (PPP).

3) Service at Door steps for pilgrim passengers at PDKN:

Special UTS counter is being operated at Pedakakani Thota (a private place where religious prayers are organized ) every Monday and second Saturday with a view to provide “service at door steps” and to capture additional traffic. During

April-16 to March-17 at PDKN a total of 50,951 passengers utilized this facility and an amount of Rs. 13,77,359/- was earned.

4) Extensive use of ATVM/COTVM over GNT Division:

As a step towards digital governance, During

April’16 to March’17 total 34.29 lakhs tickets were issued to 56.39 lakhs passengers and collected Rs 20.34 crores with the help of 23 ATVM’s and one

COTVM over Guntur division.

5) Augumentation of coaches for highly demanded trains:

Important trains like Palnadu express were augmented with 363 AC Chair

& 413 II Sitting class coaches as reserved accommodation for the convenience of passengers during demand day’s i.e. from April’16 to March’17. In all,

51,682 passengers availed this facility on PRS fetching extra earnings of Rs.128.03 Lakhs.

6) Exploring Premium parking areas over Guntur division:

Three new Premium parking contracts awarded over Guntur division at

RAL,NRT & NDL stations. In addition to the above, four more parking contracts have been awarded at MCLA, CBM, RAL-E & CIV for period of three

years during April’16 to March’17. Total Earnings collected from the above contracts are Rs 13.46 lakhs per annum.

7) Commercial publicity on passenger rake:

For the first time Publicty rights contract on exterior coaches of two passenger trains having 12 Rakes namely 1)

57306/57305/57328/57327/57381/57382/57308/57307 2) 57330/57329/57326/57325 have been awarded for a period of three years.

An earnings collected from the above contracts are Rs 14.51 lakhs per annum.

8) Proliferation of ATM’s :

During April’16 to March’17 total Five ATM

contracts have been awarded at 5 Locations/ 4

stations Namely Guntur-2, SAP, MRK & NDL. Total Earnings collected from the above

contracts are Rs 7.54 lakhs per annum.

9) Ticket checking by involving voluntary organizations :

Intensified ticket checking drives were conducted at sensitive areas involving various voluntary organizations along with Security personnel on regular basis to minimize ticket less travel and improve earnings. Ticket

checking performance for the period April-March 2017 has registered positive growth of 5.13% & 8.42% in number of cases and earnings respectively over

the corresponding period of previous year

10) Digital India campaign: To Promote Digital &

cashless economy to a wider extent, at Guntur station, total 26 No.of

Point of Sale Machines(POS) have been installed at various

units for passengers’ convenience. Now

passengers can purchase General &

reserved tickets and book parcels through POS machines by using their debit

& credit cards. For passengers’ convenience, POS machines facility has been extended to all catering stalls, Parking stands, Cloakroom & Pay&Use locations. With this facility, now passengers can make payments through POS

machines as well as through mobile payment system like PAYTM etc. Hon’ble Railway Minister Sri .Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu declared on 25.03.17, that

Guntur Railway station has been transformed into complete digitalized payment (DIGIPAY) station as a part of the measure towards transforming India into cashless economy

11) Provision of Steel Perforated chairs:

During the financial year 2016-17 a total of 310 Stainless steel three

seater Perforated chairs were provided at all major Railway stations over Guntur

Division for passenger convenience.

12) Intensive catering Drives to control Unauthorized hawking:

Intensive Catering drives were conducted over Guntur Division from 27.07.17 to 16.08.17 to control unauthorised hawking and to supply quality and hygienic food to passengers. A total of 132 drives were conducted by Officers & Supervisors in 222 trains & 76 stations, 79 unauthorised hawkers were prosecuted and realised Rs 1,21,510 in the form of penalty.
