DavidCharlesClaphamLLB,N.P,SSCcanproperlydescribehimselfasalocalsolicitor.HewasborninPercyDrive,Giffnockwhich,ifnotwithinshouting distance of our current office premises, is not muchfurther.HewaseducatedatHutchesons'Boys'GrammarSchoolandattheUniversityofStrathclyde.Hequalifiedasasolicitorin1981.Davidcommenced practice on his own account on 20th February 1984 andthefirmwasnamed"DavidCClapham"untilhiswife,Debra,becameaPartner in 2007 when it metamorphosed into "Claphams". Davidconducts both contentious and non-contentious work and has aparticularinterestinprofessionalregulationanddisciplinehavingbeenaDirectoroftheLegalDefenceUnionsincethelate1980's.Davidisalegal assessor to theGeneralMedical Council and to theNursing andMidwifery Council. He is a former President of the Glasgow BarAssociation.

JohnPaulLeach,MD,FRCPHonoraryClinicalAssociateProfessor,SchoolofMedicine,Glasgow

After qualifying inmedicine from Glasgow, JP had several trainingposts inhisnativecity,culminating inhisMDthesis in1997onthepharmacology and mechanisms of action of the new antiepilepticdrugs. He had a six-year spell in Liverpool’s Walton Centre forNeurology and Neurosurgery training in neurology and clinicalneurophysiology.In 2002 he took up a post as a consultant neurologist coveringepilepsy services in both the Southern General Hospital and theWestern Infirmary, Glasgow. His clinical workload covers clinicsdealing with established and newly diagnosed epilepsy as well aspatientspresentingwithafirstseizure.HehaswrittenonetextbookandseveralbookchaptersincludingbeingleadauthorforDavidson’sPrinciplesandPracticeofMedicine.

He isHonoraryClinicalAssociateProfessorbySchoolofMedicineatGlasgowUniversityandhasbeenexternal examiner to Cardiff University Medical School. In 2013 he was elected President of the UKChapteroftheInternationalLeagueAgainstEpilepsy

ProfessorKarlLeydeckerVice-Principal(Learning&Teaching)

Karl Leydecker joined theUniversityofDundeeasVice-Principal(Learning and Teaching) and Professor of German andComparativeLiteratureinJuly2013.Inthisroleheisresponsiblefor all aspects of learning, teaching and the wider studentexperience at the University, and also leads the University’sstrategy for Employability, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship. In2014 he led a review of the structures of the University and isnow leading the cultural and communication aspects of theimplementationofthenewstructures.

IcommencedmypresentpositioninJanuary2015andIamdelightedtobeable to contribute to thenationaleducationalpriorities forwomen,childrenandyoungpeople inScotland,particularlyatthistimeofrapidserviceredesign. Ihavefoundtheroletobeenergisingandhavereallyenjoyed meeting and working with professionals from a variety ofbackgrounds.

My previous role was midwifery senior lecturer/ Lead Midwife forEducationandmorerecentlyInterimHeadofSchoolatEdinburghNapierUniversity.

DuringmytimeasamidwifeteacherIenjoyedspendingtimesupportingstudents and midwives in the clinical areas and for a period of timeworked closelywith the Infant FeedingAdvisers at clinics forwomenwithBreastfeedingproblems.

Mywork as a clinicalmidwife prior tomoving into education involvedworkingataseniorlevelasaLabourWardmanager.IalsospecialisedinNeonatal nursing and held a position as a Special Care Baby Unitmanager.BothofthesepositionswereatBangourGeneralHospital(thatwasnotyesterday).
