Day 2 - Know the Vision

Your vision should extend beyond your individual goals. Start with theend in mind. Take into consideration the legacy you want to leave

behind. Your goals should tie into the vision for your life. Ex. 1- A goalto lose weight could tie in to a vision of living a healthy, long, and

vibrant, complete with actively participating in the lives of yourgrandchildren and watching them grow up. Ex. 2 A goal of

overcoming stage fright standing on stage singing karaoke can tie intoa vision of living a confident authentic life with no regrets.

Tip: Look for your vision in the things you value and care about.

    Day 3 - Be Specific

Every car has specifications. The specifications provide details aboutthe engine, seat color, cargo volume, weight, and much more. Whatwould you do if you ordered a car, only to have delivered a frame,

complete with a window, two wheels and a trunk? Personally, Id freakout, but thank goodness I dont have to worry about that. We can all

feel confident in the knowledge that when we buy cars, iPhones, laptops, or what have you, that the items have been built to

specifications. Our goals are like our cars, without the specifics a.k.a.specifications, we may not get what we expected to get. Dont get

caught with goals that result in a window and two wheels. Be specific.Tip: What is it + Who will be involved + When will it happen =

Day 5 - Daily Mind Detox

Research has proven that many of the diseases that exist in our worldtoday are due to the toxins that enter our bodies via air, food, and

surprisingly, stress. There are a gazillion recipes, books, and medicinesthat claim to help detox the liver, spleen, intestines, and even feet.

(Yes, believe it or not, the feet have been proven to accumulate toxinsand make us sick!). On a daily basis, even our minds are being

exposed to a battery of lethal toxins toxins that accumulate as a

result of what we experience, what we hear, and what we see. Thesetoxins create septic cells in our minds that eat at us and create limitingbeliefs, low self-esteem, depression, and many other pre-cancerouscells. We need to ensure daily nourishment to our minds so as to

    prevent toxic build up.

Tip: Surround yourself with positive people. Write down and repeataffirmations throughout the day. Read spiritual and personal-growthbooks, as well as stories about people who overcame adversity. Do

    this daily.

    Day 6 - WHY

The answer to the question of why will either motivate us to reach ourgoal or leave us in the lurches. The answer to the question should bepersonal for each of us, and not influenced by what others think we

should achieve or their expectations of us. Often, those who havefallen victim to defining their why based on other peoplesperceptions of them have become unhappy and depressed, and in the

    most extreme cases, suicidal.

Tip: Reflect on your vision for your life and ask yourself, Does thisalign with my vision, and will the achievement of this goal make me

    happy?

    Day 8 - Pivot

During my 9thgrade year of basketball, I learned how to pivot. Onefoot remains glued to the floor while your body moves to the left orright as you move away from the opponent who is blocking you, inorder to either shoot or pass the ball. The key is to keep the foot youstarted out on grounded to the floor and only use your other foot tomaneuver left or right. When we work toward achieving our goals,we will need to pivot along the way. Challenges will arise to impede

us from achieving our goals. Pivoting may mean working on yourbreak-dance action steps in the morning instead of at night because

you need to stay up with your child to help her with homework. Pivotcould mean saving $125 instead of the planned $300, because you

needed extra money to get your car fixed. Pivot could mean you dontreceive the promotion, and so you devise a strategy to either land the

next promotion or to leave the company. We will face variouschallenges on the path toward achieving our objectives, so we should

anticipate a lot of pivoting along the way.

Tip: Play or watch a game of basketball to remind you to pivot. Can

    you pivot without travelling?

    Day 15 - Great Expectations

Identify and validate your expectations. What does the result of yourshort and long-term goals look like? Within what timeframe do youexpect to achieve your goals? Who do you expect to help you with

your goals? Validate that it is physically possible to achieve your goalswithin the specified timeframes. Verify that Your supporters do not

    have scheduling conflicts.

Tip: Read success stories of those who have mastered what you are

    trying to accomplish.

Day 16 - Yes or No

Know when to say no. If you are going to say yesto things that move

you in the direction to achieve your goals, then you will have to sayno to other things. On the other hand, you must also be open to theopportunities that will come from saying yes to those things that you

    want in your life.

Tip: Ask yourself two questions before deciding if you should say yesor no to something. 1. Will this bring energy or will it drain my life? 2.

Does this align with my vision?

    Day 17 - Focus

Distractions will sneak up on you when you least expect them. Manytimes, we are unable to identify distractions. Some distractions are

pure joy...babies, animals, sunsets. Other distractions come by way ofgood ideas. BEWARE do not let good ideas distract you from the

best ideas. Distractions also come in the form of other peoplesproblems, headaches, and busy work. Focus is the key to limiting

distractions as you move toward achieving your goal.

Tip: Pivot, Say No, Stay Disciplined, SOS

    Day 18 - Procrastination

The Nike slogan,Just Do It, is in the present tense. We should live ourlives in the present tense. There is always something that we can dotoday to move us toward our goals. Lets not wait until tomorrow.

Break dance, think of the small steps you can take today. It may be assimple as conducting research. If your goal is to write down your

goals, it may be as simple as selecting your app or journal you willuse to write down your goals. Whatever the case,Just Do it. Time

    waits for no one.

Tip: Establish internal controls such as placing the alarm clock on theother side of the room to ensure you get out of bed to turn it off, towaking up early or hiding the television remote in the car to ensure

you dont channel surf when you should be working on your business

    plan.

    Day 19 - Accountability

If you share your goals with someone who will hold you accountableto them, you are more likely to succeed. The key is to tell the right

person. Dont tell someone who is pessimistic or who you dont trust. Many people hire life coaches to assist with this process.

Tip: Mark a date on the calendar to identify and meet with someonewho will act as your coach or supporter.

    Day 20 - Fear

Fear will either move us forward or hold us back. In some cases, fearkeeps us out of real danger (imagine a lion in the vicinity). In other

instances, fear is imagined (as in the case of being renderedspeechless when addressing a crowd of a thousand people).

Tip: Write down the worst and best thing that could happen if youconfront your fears.

Day 21 - Party Like a Rock Star

Celebrate your progress. Sometimes its about just celebrating the factthat you made it through another day and you didnt give up. Live and

enjoy your life as you strive toward achieving your goal.

Tip: Set and celebrate each milestone on your way to achieving yourgoal.

Day 23 - Learn from the Best

Many have gone before you and paved the way. Seek to learn fromthem. Contact and connect with them if you can. There is a saying

that a smart man learns from his mistakes, a wise one learns from themistakes of others.

Tip: Find out who is doing what you want to do and connect withthem; read their books, and/or follow their blogs. Look for beneficialways that you can get the help you need while also passing on some

    of your own insights.

    Day 24 - Patience

Have patience, as it will take time to achieve your goals. Sometimes, the gap between where you are now and where you want to be seems

    monumental. Nonetheless, enjoy the journey.

Tip: Document each of your successes and review the list at thosetimes when you feel like you are not making progress.

    Day 25 - Excellence

Be your best! Time is too short and there are a million other things youcould be doing. Dont waste time being mediocre. Do your best to

achieve your goals. If you give half-hearted efforts, you will get half-hearted results.

Tip: Document your small successes and evaluate whether or not animprovement is being made. Request the assistance of a coach, expert, or trainer to push you beyond mediocrity to being your

    absolute best.

    Day 26 - Research

Learning should never stop. Take the time to learn about the subjectmatter of the goal you are working to achieve. Dont sit idly by andexpect to get results without putting in the effort. Research what it

    takes to achieve the goal.

Tip: Keys to research: Gather and compare information from multiplesources, and set a limit of how many resources you will use for your

    initial analysis.
