A n old adage that I learned long ago is: "anything worth doing is worth doing well."

I suppose the phrase reflects a wisdom which is a nice and lofty goal. We can, at least, do as

well as we can in all our endeavors. Good things are worth planning for. Good things are worth

sacrificing for. Why do otherwise?

Our recent bus trip to the Keys had 31 travelers; even a tourist from Canada joined us. She read

about the excursion in our parish bulletin. Like all things at our parish, a lot of planning goes into our

many initiatives, ministries, and community events. All the details are readied long in advance.

Being prepared and ready is the "key" to successful undertakings, no mater what category of life

we may consider. The notion of being ready is a very helpful, if not essential, component of our

spiritual life as well.

Today's Gospel describes Jesus' hope that everyone would be ready to participate in the Kingdom

of God, ready to embrace Christ and His teachings, and ready to eventually take our place at the

eternal banquet.

If everything in life that is good, under normal circumstances, is worth planning for and

"readying," how much more significant it would be to "ready" our lives to their complete spiritual

potential and plan the details of an authentically full Christian life! Why not flourish in the Lord?

Our Lord Jesus tells us. "all is ready; come to the feast." The question, therefore, is: "are we ready

to accept His invitation? Will we be ready through our planning and good use of time to embrace

God's dreams for our future?

Let us come to the feast with ready hearts and lives. Good things are worth planning for,

and doing well!

hacerlas bien!

Todo lo puedo

unido a aquél me da fuerza.

— Filipenses 4:13

— Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

I can do all things

in him who strengthens me.

— Philippians 4:13

The mountain of the Lord described in today’s

first reading is a place where there is no more

hunger, no more weeping, and no more division of

any kind. We need to pause and ponder these

images every now and then, especially given the fact

that we live in such a fractured world. The

responsorial psalm continues to paint a picture of a

place where only goodness and kindness flourish.

These readings describe the heavenly banquet, to

which God calls each of us through baptism and

continues to call us throughout our lives. Let us

“RSVP” to God’s invitation and live our lives

consistent with gospel values so that one day we will

be welcomed to the table of the kingdom. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

By popular demand, Father Davis will lead another trip to the Holy Land next year, November 9-18,

2018. The dates are designed to coincide with Veteran’s Day weekend, so that working people would

only have to take off four days of work. Brochures and registration information will soon be available.

After flying to Israel via Lufthansa Airlines, we will enjoy visits to the Sea of Galilee, Capernaum,

Nazareth, Carmel, Caesaria, Cana, Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Jericho, and Bethany. Masses at the holy sites

of Gospel fame, including the Mount of Beatitudes and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Great food.

Comfortable 4-STAR accommodations. Full-time tour guide and bus driver on a deluxe air conditioned

motor coach. To get your name on the list, please contact Father Davis at 305-446-9950, ext.301.

At this early date, we already have 13 people on the list. There is room for 52. Information meeting soon

to be scheduled.

Once again, all the participants in the 55 ministries and

services at the Church of the Little Flower are invited to

attend an appreciation evening, designed with you in mind.

Desserts, coffee, refreshments, entertainment, and a “free”

raffle will be enjoyed by all. It will be a wonderful

community event, during which some 15 fellow

parishioners will receive the “coveted” Spirit of the Parish

Award, annually bestowed on parishioners who have captured the essence of parish life and

service through their virtue and ministry here at COTLF. Monday, November 21st at 7:30pm.

All are welcome.

Thank you to the gracious Parishes of San Pedro in

Tavernier and St. Justin Martyr in Key Largo for

their wonderful hospitality this past Monday.

A great time was had by all our parishioners who

attended our wonderful spiritual day in the Keys.

Not to mention the delicious lunch at the

Islamorada Fish Company right on the water.

If you would like to see pictures of the day please go

to our website and click on the photo album.

The next trip is in the works, stay tuned.
