Identification Statement of the Wyoming CRC We are the Wyoming Christian Reformed Church. Standing on the infallible Word of God, in the tradition of the Reformed faith as it’s expressed in the Heidelberg Catechism, Belgic Confession and Canons of Dort, we boldly proclaim and celebrate the coming of God’s kingdom in Jesus Christ. By the strength of His Spirit we gather and enfold newcomers into His covenant of grace. We teach and equip believers and their baptized children for obedient, loving service in all areas of life to the praise of our heavenly Father. Regarding Worship: Amidst the wide range of worship practices in our culture today, we maintain that worship is a meeting between God and His people in which God is praised and His people are blessed. Worship must center around the preaching of the word – the primary means of grace. We deem it a blessing to assemble twice on the Lord’s Day to praise His name. Worship is our highest calling and joy. Regarding Moral and Ethical Living: the Bible is our guide for life. It addresses the sanctity of life (Ex 20:13), the roles of men and women in the church and home (1 Tim 2:11-15; Eph 5:22-23), the proper attitude toward material possessions (1 Tim 6:3-10). In short, the Bible addresses every aspect of our lives. In our world ravaged by moral relativism, we affirm that all the principles for Christian living revealed in the Bible and summarized in the Ten Commandments, remain normative for our lives today. The church’s task is to proclaim these principles and to call sinners to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. With love and compassion we practice church discipline and encourage penitent believers in their continual battle against the kingdom of darkness. To strengthen our identity in Christ, we seek contact and fellowship with churches of like mind. Worship must center around the preaching of the word – the primary means of grace. We deem it a blessing to assemble twice on the Lord’s Day to praise His name. Welcome to the Wyoming Christian Reformed Church on this Sunday, May 27th , 2012! A special welcome to all our visitors! We hope you will feel at home among us and receive a blessing from the Lord. May it be our prayer for God to create in us clean hearts, that through our worship He might renew a right spirit within us. May He not cast us away from His presence, but instead restore to us the joy of our salvation. Everyone is warmly invited and encouraged to go downstairs after the morning service for coffee or juice and a time of Christian fellowship.

Children aged 3-8 are invited to

go downstairs for Sunday School after the children’s song and a short prayer of blessing. There is also a class for those with special needs. Parents, please feel free to follow the teachers out and ask them any questions you may have. As we obediently “train children in the way they should go,” may it be our prayer that “they will not turn from it when they are older” (Proverbs 22:6).

If there is any way we can be of service to you (if you have a prayer request or would like more information about our church and the programs we offer), please do not hesitate to get in touch with an elder or a deacon.

Evangelism Offering: For the month of May, our Evangelism Committee is presenting us with the opportunity to support the Petrolia Food Bank. Check the Visitors’ Stations for donation suggestions.

Stewardship Thought:Another benefit of giving is freedom. It's a matter of basic physics. The greater the mass, the greater the hold that mass exerts. The more things we own – the greater their total mass – the more they grip us, setting us in orbit around them. Finally, like a black hole, they suck us in… We think we own our possessions, but too often they own us.. .Every item we buy is one more thing to think about, talk about, clean, repair, rearrange, fret over, and replace when it goes bad. ~ Randy Alcorn

Today’s Worship : We join the global church in bringing Almighty God our praise on this day of rest and gladness! Today we welcome Rev. John Hellinga from Sarnia to our pulpit for the morning service and Rev. Jack Westerhof for the evening service. During this morning’s Profession of Faith Service we celebrate God’s faithfulness to us as a congregation! Through the working of the Holy Spirit, Jared Bos, Katie Dekker, Kim Kaldeway, Jen Philips, Jessica Soepboer, Mike Schenk and Christine DeBoer have decided to accept the Lord’s promises made to each of them and to express their love for Jesus Christ publicly. As a church family we rejoice with them and their families at this significant moment in their lives!

Next Week: Next Sunday, June 3rd, our morning service will be led by Mr. Ryan Hoogerbrugge from Wallaceburg and our evening service will be led by Mr. Louis Bosma from Aylmer.

Our Church Family:Nothing is too great and nothing is too small to commit into the hands of the Lord.A.W. Pink

We continually “keep on praying for all the saints” (Ephesians 6:18) here at the Wyoming CRC, trusting that we are loved of God, elect in Christ, empowered by the Spirit.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Ida Douwes who received word from the Netherlands that her sister, Akke Hoogterp-Bakker, 89, passed away on

Wednesday, May 23rd. May God comfort Ida as she mourns this loss. May she be reassured that her Heavenly Father continues to enfold her in his larger family of believers.

This morning seven individuals are professing that they acknowledge Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. They are also joining this local church, committing to the privileges and responsibilities of membership. It’s good for all of us to reflect on what such membership means. Here are some thoughts on the subject:

In the New Testament there is no such person as a Christian who is not a church member. Conversion was described as “the Lord adding to the church” (Acts 2:47). There was no spiritual drifting. ~ Douglas G. Millar

When you join a church, you make it visible. You give a living demonstration of the spiritual reality of the body of Christ. You show that even though you are an individual, you are a part of the body; you are joined together with others. You take the body of Christ out of the realm of the theoretical (1 Cor. 12:27) and give it a meaning that people can see. ~ Don Whitney

If the church is a building, then we must be bricks in it; if the church is a body, then we are its members; if the church is a household of faith, then we are part of that household. Sheep are in a flock, and branches on a vine. Biblically, if we are Christians, we must be members of a church. This membership is not simply the record of a statement we once made or of affection toward a familiar place. It must be the reflection of a living commitment or it is worthless. ~ Mark Dever

Christian Reformed World Missions asks us to pray for Haiti. About 140 families who lost their homes in the devastating earthquake two years ago have been living in make-shift shelters by the CRCNA’s Sous Espwa team offices ever since. Praise God that these families have now found homes and were able to move out of their tents.
