FROM THE DESK OF PRESIDENT:
Dear Members,
Assalam O Aalaikum,
First of all I bow my head to Almighty Allah who bestowed upon me this honor of serving as
President of MPF.
My thanks to Mr. Hanif Janoo, SAB Chairman and Past President of MPF who showed confidence in my abilities and requested me to take up the position of President MPF. My
thanks to past presidents, Mr. Yousuf Adil, Mr. Abdul Qadir Memon, Mr. Abdul Wahid Tejani, Mr. M. Hanif Jakhura, Engr. Pervez Abubakar, Mr. M Zubair, and Mr. Asif Ismail Mangroria
who, fully supported and initiated my nomination as President MPF.
It was a humbling experience to serve as President of a body whose members occupy the top notch positions in every sphere of our community and society. On one hand it was a
challenging task to serve amongst such competitive personalities but on the other it was a
great learning experience.
As soon as I started my tenure, first responsibility was Entrepreneurship conference which
took place on 22nd November 2011. Under the dynamic leadership of Mr. M. Hanif Jakhura, the conference was again a landmark for MPF. This conference is hallmark for MPF and
initiated by Mr. M. Hanif Jakhura in his tenure and he had been very kind to continue his support as well as serve as conference chairman. My sincere thanks to Mr. M. Hanif
Jakhura for giving his personal time in organizing this mammoth conference. With this conference we generated handsome revenue for MPF, my sincere thanks to all the
sponsors.
The other major task was Annual Diary. My sincere thanks to Mr. Abdul Jabbar Rathod for managing the entire diary project which earned significant revenues for MPF. My sincere
thanks to the sponsors as well without whom it was impossible.
One of the landmark achievements of this year was “Amendments in bye-laws”. The entire MC deserves credit for this achievement. They debated hours and hours on the
amendments and finally we got approval in EOGM last week on September 2nd, 2012. My special thanks to by law committee Arch. Gul Ahmed Mayari, Engr. Pervez Abubakar, and
Engr. Saleem Rangoonwala. Their effort in coming up with a consensus document of
amendment was an uphill task which Alhamdolillah they managed with their passion and
commitment. It was their effort and dedication that after a long time MPF finally has Bye-Laws which can truly be called universal.
Besides the above, we had many seminars and meetings, details have been provided in
the report which will follow. I would like to thank all who helped in coordination of these seminars and meetings. Without their support it would have been impossible to continue

MPF activities. Please note that it is all voluntary work and the only thing we can pay back
is “thank you from bottom of our heart”.
I would like to draw members’ attention to a very big challenge which MPF is facing for a long time, which is a Financial resource. We don’t have any continuous revenue stream to
run MPF office, except Entrepreneurship conference and annual Diary as mentioned above. I know that every year sitting president has to contribute significant amount to run
the operations of MPF. Last year the president MPF made major contribution and we
acquired new office besides he also contributed to run daily operations. This year too the
president had to contribute. From the finances it seems that next year will be the same situation. For how long it will continue, it is any body’s guess, as such it is important
members come together and revive the smooth running of MPF. We have amended the Bye-Laws accordingly and managed to insert nominal amount of annual subscription from
members. This will help the long term objective of MPF.
I would like to thank my colleagues (office bearers) who helped me a lot and due to their support we all managed to successfully complete this year. My sincere thanks to our
honorary general secretary Mrs. Farzana Munaf for running the MPF office smoothly and
giving me full support in managing the affairs of MPF. Without her support and active
participation, it would have been impossible. My thanks to Mr. Irfan Amanullah, Treasurer, whose timely intervention and recommendations helped MPF finances to keep under
control.
I would also like to thank the young and dynamic members of MC, namely Mr. Rizwan Usman, Mr. Naveed Abdul Hameed, Mr. Noman Abdul Hameed and Mr. Munir who were
always in the front line to deliver. Their commitment level and involvement was exemplary.
In conclusion, I would like to thank the entire Managing committee for entrusting full
support and confidence in me as well as in all office bearers. The MC support and
guidance was extremely helpful in running the MPF affairs smoothly this year.
May the blessings of ALLAH be with you. Yours sincerely,
Mr. Haroon Qassim
President (2011-12)
ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2012-2013

FROM THE DESK OF HONORARY SECRETARY GENERAL
Assalam u Alaikum
I am honored and pleased to present the annual audited accounts of the Memon
Professional Forum for its 27th year. I take this opportunity to thank the President Mr. Haroon Qassim for giving full support in carrying out the affairs of the forum and
guidance whenever asked for and needed.
Composition of Managing Committee, this year, was an unique blend, a
combination of experienced and seasoned members including Mr. M. Amin Patel, Mr. Ghulam Muhammad Kasbati, Dr. Muhammad Anwer Adam, energetic past Presidents like Engr. Pervez Abubakar, Engr. Saleem Rangoonwala and Mr. Asif
Ismail Mangroria and shining stars in the form of new inductions including Mr.
Rizwan Usman, Mr. Noman Abdul Hameed, Dr. Shaheena Akbani, Mr. Irfan
Amanullah and Mr. Naveed Abdul Hameed. The blend of wisdom, experience and energy made this year a fantastic journey whereby all of the MC members were
willing to take and actually took the responsibility of giving excellent deliverables. I
must admit that it has been my good luck that I worked as a Honorary Secretary General with a team which was willing, committed and supportive.
We always say and feel that MPF is like a family and this fact was evidenced in the
form of support from another long list of MPF members who were not part of the current MC but extended their support and guidance in time of needs. The list is very long but mainly includes Mr. Abdul Wahid Tejani, Mr. Abdul Qadir Memon, Mr.
M. Zubair, Mr. M. Hanif Jakhura, Mr. M. Ashraf Bawany, Mr. Mohsin Adhi, Ms. Summera and many more.
The year began with a full day conference of Entrepreneurship held at the Marriott Hotel, Karachi on November 22nd, 2011. The participants of the conference did not
only enjoy the rich experience of listening to a number of learned speakers such as
Mr. Arif Habib, Mr. Ziad Basheer, Mr. Aqeel Karim Dhedy and many more but also had a great opportunity of networking with other fellow professionals. We had the
honor of having Mr. Muhammad Ali, Chairman SECP to be the chief guest on the inaugural session. This conference, attended by a large number of professionals and entrepreneurs, was a great success.
The first month of the calendar year witnessed a memorable event at MMI Hospital in the form of networking lunch. This lunch was also attended by past MPF office
bearers as well as certain dignitaries representing trusts of MMI Hospital. The participants enjoyed the lunch and good company both. In addition, a number of programs in the form of seminars and awareness sessions
relating to different disciplines were organized and held by the Managing Committee. These programs covered the topics of current developments in I.T and

Social Media, importance of diet for proper health and topic of the era like
corporate social responsibility and sustainability. The good part was that these
programs were entirely managed by the team members themselves who did not only arrange learned speakers but also helped a lot in logistics arrangements. These
programs were attended by a large number of MPF members and other
professionals of the communities who not only liked the quality of these programs but also offered their services to help in conducting more of such programs.
Another important program was business decisions through financial statements for which Mr. Usman Ghani Akbani, a senior Chartered Accountant and renowned
trainer offered his services on a voluntarily basis. This program was enjoyed by participants particularly by non-finance people including Engineers and Doctors and it was liking of this program that encouraged MPF to arrange a full day
workshop on “Art of Investment in Stocks” whereby participants were not only
trained for rules of the game but also given a live course study to get hands on
experience.
Another marked achievement of the year was re-launch of MPF website with untiring efforts of Mr. Asif Ismail Mangroria and Mr. Rizwan Usman. This website is not
only entertaining but also facilitate access to various information in a very friendly way. This is being updated on regular basis and gives a very good insight of MPF’s
affairs for existing as well as potential members.
MPF academy which was launched few years ago remained another point of interest throughout the year. There was not a single meeting whereby Engr. M.
Saleem Rangoonwala did not emphasize about activation of MPF academy as rightly once activated it would not only bring a regular revenue stream for MPF but
would also contribute a lot in enhancing MPF’s image. It was the continuous efforts
of Engr. M. Saleem Rangoonwala that a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with National Productivity Organization, Government of Pakistan on April
27th, 2012 to hold different courses/programs/projects on a joint basis under the
umbrella of MPF Academy.
Another marked achievement was updating of MPF Bye-Laws document. This task was attempted by many MCs in different tenure, however now it got finally accomplished and by the grace of Almighty Allah the current MC, with the
dedicated efforts of Arch. Gul Ahmed Mayari and Engr. Pervez Abubakar not only
got the document cleared by the MC but also got it approved by MPF Members at the Extra Ordinary General Meeting (EOGM) held on September 2, 2012.
It would be wrong on my part if I do not thank the Office Bearers whose support remained with me throughout the year whenever and wherever required and
needed. Dr. M. Khalid Bhambha, our Senior Vice President, like usual remained kind in resolving the issues with positive thinking. Mr. Ghulam Muhamamd Kasbati, Vice

President whose seasoned experience and affiliation with other Jamats and bodies
of the community came to help in the time of need, Mr. Irfan Amanullah, Treasurer,
a Fellow Chartered Accountant, who efficiently performed the duty of MPF treasurer and made everyone’s life easy by maintaining efficient and proper
accounts for MPF and last but not the least Mr. Rizwan Usman, Joint Secretary who
helped me each and every single minute in performing my duty as Hon. Secretary General.
In the end, I would like to thank the entire managing committee, the past presidents, all members of the forum, office bearers and the President for their
whole hearted support during the year. I congratulate each and every one of you for witnessing another successful year of our MPF journey. I specially thank the office secretariat Mr. Hashim Hussain and Mr. Abdul Haseeb Vayani for their
continuous contributions towards the uplift of the forum and managing all
proceedings with utmost care and diligence. I would conclude my communication
with a special thanks to Mr. Haroon Qassim, President of MPF for his guidance, leadership and support throughout the year and above all my heartfelt
appreciation for Engr. Saleem Rangoonwala, Engr. Pervez Abubakar and Mr. Asif
Ismail Mangroria past presidents for their never ending support and untiring efforts for the Forum. I wish MPF a wonderful future ahead and make myself available for
any requirements of MPF which may arise in future.
Thank you,
Mrs. Farzana Munaf
