About the Institution
Bharathidasan Institute of Technology (BIT) has been established as a Techni-
cal Institute under Anna University, Chennai by the Government of Tamil
Nadu and recently sponsored with Technical Education Quality Improvement
Programme (TEQIP) grant. It offers a variety of UG, PG and research programmes
with an approximate of 5000 students in the campus. The Institution work towards
developing partnerships with industries and academic institutes to provide quality
education and opportunities for entrepreneurial development. The main objec-
tive of the institute is to generate a horde of highly creative professionals, who can
contribute not only to the Human resource Development and also to Nation build-
ing exercise. BIT has carved a niche for itself in providing technical education in the
disciplines that are rare of their kind in our country with a high level of competence
since 1999.
About the Conference
The Departments of Biotechnology, Chemistry and Physics jointly organize a
TEQIP II Sponsored International Conference on Advances in Biological Chem-
ical and Physical Sciences (ABCPS-2017) during 13 - 15 th March 2017. Scope
of ABCPS-2017 is to provide a platform to share knowledge on recent advances in
Science & Technology through plenary, invited and contributory lectures by eminent
scientists from India and abroad. The participating audience will mostly be com-
prised of Research scholars, Faculty members and Industry people.
The Department of Biotechnology established in the year 1999 is a DST- FIST
sponsored department, offering B.Tech., M.Tech., M.S (by Research) and Ph.D., degree programmes . The
department has made rapid strides in academics and research with several research projects being funded by the State / Central
Government agencies such as TNSCST, DBT, DST, DRDO, ICMR, MNRE and UGC. The department has a vision to promote and strengthen the research activities in interdisciplinary fields and a number of research activities are being carried out in areas like RNAi technology, Nanobiotechnology, Biofuels, Cancer biology, Genetic engineering, Plant biotechnology, Bioprocess technology, Bioremediation and Bioinformatics.
The Department of Chemistry established in 1999, is well equipped with laboratories
and has faculty members who have undergone their research activities in reputed institutes in India and abroad.
The department has attracted substantial financial support from both State and Central Government funding agencies. The
fields of research includes ; Coordination chemistry, Bioinorganic chemistry, Bioorganic chemistry, Photochemistry, Catalysis, Material chemistry, Electrochemistry, Chemical kinetics, Polymer chemistry, Synthetic organic chemistry and Nanotechnology. The department has several publications in reputed journals along with a national patent.
The Department of Physics was established in 1999 with well equipped research laboratories. All the faculty
members of the department possess Ph.D. degrees from well recognised institutions from India and abroad. Their rich
research experience has resulted in several publications in reputed international journals with two National Patents. The Department also offers a post-graduate programme, M.Tech. Nanoscience & Technology and Research programme. The Department is substantially aided by DST and TEQIP Phase II and also well supported by TNSCST and CTDT - Anna University Chennai.
