The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India

(ICAI) is a statutory body established under the Chartered

Accountants Act, 1949 (Act No. XXXVIII of 1949) for the

regulation of the profession of Chartered Accountants in

India.

ICAI has achieved recognition as a premier accounting

body not only in India but also globally, for its contribution in

the fields of education, professional development,

maintenance of high accounting, auditing and ethical

standards. ICAI now is the second largest accounting body

in the whole world with a network of more than 250,000

members globally throughout the country and different parts

of the world.

The Indian Accountancy Profession will be the Valued Trustee of World Class Financial competencies, Good

Governance and Competitiveness

ICAI is raising the profile and increasing demand for the

The Abu Dhabi Chapter of ICAI was set up in 1984 to

further the technical competency and knowledge of its

members. With a strength of around 700 members, the

Chapter has been hosting seminars and events that are

addressed by eminent speakers and experts. The keen

interest shown by the members in participating in the

Chapter’s activities over the years is a tribute to the

thirst for knowledge and the desire of the Indian

professionals to be at the leading edge of managerial

advancements.

The key event in the Chapter's professional

activities calendar is the Annual International

Seminar (“Seminar”), which has been a regular

feature on the Chapter's calendar since the first

such Seminar in October 1988.

The Chapter is organising its 28th Annual

International Seminar on 17th and 18th November

2016 on the theme “Prism of Opportunities”at Rosewood Hotel, ADGM Square, Abu Dhabi.

The seminar brings together a galaxy of

visionaries, experts and leaders who will

brainstorm for one and half days.

CA Anand Rathi, the founder and torch-bearer of the Anand Rathi Group, is one of the leading financial

and investment experts in India and South-East Asia. The gold medalist Chartered Accountant is an

esteemed member of the ICAI and has over 40 years diverse experience.

Before establishing his own enterprise, Mr. Rathi had a long and illustrious career as a core member of

Birla Group — the business group of legendary late Mr. Aditya Birla. He was the youngest president of

Indian Rayon (now known as Aditya Birla Nuvo). He was instrumental in shaping the group‘s cement

business and spearheading its foray into diverse businesses in manufacturing and services.

In 1999, Mr. Rathi became the president of BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange). He was the driving force

behind the expansion of BOLT - the BSE Online Trading System. He also set up the Trade Guarantee Fund and played a vital

role in setting up the Central Depository Services (CDS).

CA Anand Rathi

CA Nilesh Vikamsey is the Vice President of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India for the

term 2016-17.

CA Nilesh is member of the ICAI since 1985 with more than 30 years of professional standing. He has

served the ICAI as a Central Council Member since 2010. He is widely commended and credited for his

key role in conceptualization and devising of a new futuristic CA Curriculum. He is Vice-Chairman of

all the Standing Committees of the ICAI, the Member ex-officio in all Non-Standing Committees of the

ICAI and Joint Editor of The Chartered Accountant journal.

CA Nilesh Vikramsey

Mr. Vivek Abraham

Vivek Abraham is Assistant Vice President at Invest India, and is responsible for global investor

targeting in US, Europe, Middle East and Africa to bring in foreign direct investment into India.

Before joining Invest India in 2016, Vivek was heading the European sales desk in London for SBI

Capital Markets (SBICAP), the investment banking arm of State Bank of India. In this role, he marketed

nearly $20 billion worth of capital markets products to large investors across the Europe.

Earlier, he was part of the Equity Capital Markets team at SBICAP, where he led and managed more

than $3 billion worth of equity transactions, including some market-leading mandates in India, ranging

across sectors and sizes. Prior to SBICAP, Vivek also worked at Lehman Brothers, UK in the Capital

Markets Division.

Vivek graduated as a computer engineer from the prestigious Delhi College of Engineering and obtained his MBA from Indian

Institute of Management Bangalore.

CA Sridhar Iyager

CA Sridhar is the Executive Director of Group Finance, responsible for financial control, statutory audit

and reporting, financial planning and budgeting, management and business performance reporting, and

transaction processing at Mubadala.

Sridhar has over 26 years of experience in a wide-range of financial disciplines and is a fellow member

of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India

& the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.

Prior to joining Mubadala, Sridhar was CFO for Waha Capital and Mubadala GE Capital.

Mr. Amit Agarwal

Mr. Amit Agarwal is Chartered Accountant with over 24 years of experience in India, Europe and North

America, He is a seasoned finance professional with knowledge and insight of Indian and international

markets. As the Chief Financial Officer of Jet Airways, Mr. Agarwal is responsible for all financial and

fiscal management aspects of the Company‘s business. Currently, Mr. Agarwal also holds the position of

Acting CEO of the company.

Prior to joining Jet Airways, Mr. Agarwal held the position of Chief Financial Officer of Suzlon Energy

where he was responsible for managing the Company‘s finance functions and driving the company‘s

turnaround initiatives. Prior to that he has held various leadership roles at Arcelor Mittal and at Essar

Steel.

Ms. Arunima Sinha

Ms. Arunima Sinha is the world‘s first female amputee to climb Mount Everest.

She has also been a national level volleyball player. She was victim of tragic accident where she was

pushed from a running train while resisting thieves in 2011. As a result, one of her legs had to be

amputated below the knee.

She was awarded Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of India, in 2015. She wrote the book

"Born again on the mountain", launched by Prime minister of India Narendra Modi in December 2014.

Her aim is to climb the highest peaks of all the continents and put the national flag of India. Arunima is now dedicated towards

social welfare and she wants to open a free sports academy for the poor and differently-abled people.

Mr. Rahul Kapoor Jain

Mr. Rahul Kapoor is an Entrepreneur, Speaker, Presenter and an Author. He has founded three

Companies and two Charitable Trusts. As an inspirational speaker he has inspired over 1.5 lakh people

from various backgrounds. He has spoken in eleven countries like Australia, Dubai, India, Malaysia,

Singapore and USA among others.

Rahul has authored two books: Work Wise – Lessons in Excellence for Young Professionals published

by the Times Group Books and Dad & I – Inspiring Stories for Teens.

He is a Guest Faculty at Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. He has been conferred with

‗Outstanding Young Person of India 2010‘ by Junior Chamber International and ‗Young Achievers

Award‘ in the category of Social Entrepreneurship at Young India Conclave 2016.

Mr. Martin Tideström is Director of Business Development at Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). He

is responsible for developing ADGM as a leading commercial platform, facilitating local and

international expansion of companies in a broad range of industries, and as a hub for professional

services, family offices, and trade / industry / professional organizations.

Prior to joining ADGM, Martin led BD for DIFC and Qatar Financial Centre.

Martin began his career as lawyer with EY and Skandia, focused on funding and building new business.

He holds an LL.M. from Uppsala, Sweden and MBA from IMD, Switzerland.

Mr. Harvesh Seegolam is the Chief Executive of the Financial Services Promotion Agency (FSPA). The

FSPA operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Financial Services and is mandated to promote and

develop Mauritius as an International Financial Centre (IFC) of excellence.

Prior to joining the FSPA, Harvesh was Director of the Innovation, Technology & Services cluster at the

Board of Investment (BOI), the Investment Promotion Agency of Mauritius.

He has successfully advised a number of global players on setting up operations in Mauritius in the

fields of banking, private equity, investment funds, legal services and wealth management,

manufacturing and ICT amongst others.

Harvesh holds a BSc (Hon) in Economics and an MSc in International Finance, in addition to several other qualifications in

accountancy and finance

Mr. Shafi Mathar is Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Murgency Inc. Shaffi leads MUrgency - UN

RESEAU GLOBAL DE REPONSE D'URGENCE (One Global Emergency Response Network) on

mobile phones.

Shaffi Mather is a Serial Entrepreneur, Lawyer & Public Policy Analyst.

Mr. Prashant Jain is the Chief Investment Officer, Executive Director, and Fund Manager at HDFC

Asset Management Company Ltd. Prior to this, Mr. Jain was the Chief Investment Officer, Head of

Funds Management, and Fund Manager at Zurich Asset Management Company (India) Private Limited

from July 1993 till June 2003 and worked at SBI Mutual Fund as Fund In-Charge from 1991 to 1993.

Mr. Jain is a Chartered Financial Analyst from AIMR. He earned a PGDM from the Indian Institute of

Management Bangalore. Mr. Jain also received a B. Tech degree from the Indian Institute of

Technology, Kanpur.

Mr. Prashant Jain

Deepak Mehra is the Head of Advisory – Treasury and Asset Management at Commercial Bank of

Dubai. Starting in Mar 2007, he has been instrumental in developing the bank's product capabilities

across different asset classes. In his banking career spanning 25 years, he has worked for organizations

like Citibank, Credit Suisse and Dubai Bank.

Deepak secured an engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in 1989 and an MBA

from IMT in 1991. He is a regular speaker on Dubai Eye FM radio and is the author of critically

acclaimed, professional self-help book ―Ready, Steady, Go!‖

Mr. Deepak Mehra

Sally is a Partner based in Clyde & Co's Abu Dhabi office specializing in Financial Services and has held

various senior in-house roles including GC and Chief Compliance Officer. She has in-depth knowledge of

UAE regulation as well as operational and compliance systems, procedures and industry practices.

She has advised on the legal, regulatory and policy matters relating to all aspects of setting up a

comprehensive body of legislation of a financial free zone in Abu Dhabi and was also the first Arabic

speaking lawyer to join the Policy and Legal team of the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA).
