The sun rises. Oscar makes eggs. Sarah cleans up.
OSCAR
Can I be honest?
SARAH
You’ll go to hell if you ain’t, so
... Yeah. Be honest.
OSCAR
I don’t know what you think this
is, but it’s not normal.
She shoves all the SNACKS into the TRASHCAN.
SARAH
Aw, come on, you fell asleep in my
arms. It was adorable.
OSCAR
It’s not adorable, it’s ...
psychotic.
SARAH
(interrupting)
I’m not a fucking psycho.
She breathes in.
SARAH (CONT’D)
Okay. Right. I’m practical,
understand me, I’m pragmatic. I see
a solution to a problem and I take
it. I’m adaptable, that’s what I
am. That’s what defines monsters
like me. We adapt. Do you have any
idea how long I’ve been alive?
OSCAR
A thousand years?
SARAH
What? No. Ninety-five. Jesus
fucking Christ, a thousand years?
How fucking old do I look?
OSCAR
I don’t know anything about you.
SARAH
I’m a succubus.
![Page 2: 29-33](https://reader038.vdocument.in/reader038/viewer/2022100802/577cce251a28ab9e788d724d/html5/thumbnails/2.jpg)
2.
OSCAR
Sure, okay. How do succubuses work?
SARAH
Succubi. One succubus, two succubi.
Get it right.
Oscar flips his eggs.
OSCAR
Just tell me what I’m dealing with
here. I’m sick of surprises.
SARAH
Finally!
She runs her hands along her hips.
SARAH (CONT’D)
I’ve got this form, and I’ve got
"Rawr Monster Face." Both of them
are SARAH. Neither of them is my
true form or some such bullshit,
neither of them is less of me than
the other, okay? That’s like saying
you’re someone else when you’re
drunk, but you’re not, you’re still
responsible for your actions. Only
a total fucking useless waste of
human trash would think otherwise.
Eggs are done. Oscar puts them on TOAST. One for each.
OSCAR
Yeah, whatever. I get it. You’re
always Sarah no matter what you
look like.
She pokes him on the nose.
SARAH
Bingo. Now, if my powers worked on
you, I could sing you to sleep, or
change my voice, or just set your
pheromones blazing.
She smirks.
SARAH (CONT’D)
I don’t really need that last one.
![Page 3: 29-33](https://reader038.vdocument.in/reader038/viewer/2022100802/577cce251a28ab9e788d724d/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
3.
OSCAR
Funny.
SARAH
It’s not funny, it’s the truth! I
mean, look at me. You think I need
to work for this? My looks change
based on what the --
(finger quotes)
"abstract notion of society" thinks
is attractive. I liked the eighties
cause of the hair. Oh, and Ireland!
She touches her cheek.
SARAH (CONT’D)
Did you know your face actually
feels different with freckles?
Oscar digs into his breakfast. He swallows.
OSCAR
Anything else?
She leans in.
SARAH
I could erase your memory with a
word. And I’m good at it. You want
to forget someone ever existed, I
could grant that wish in the blink
of an eye.
She grins. Slasher smile.
SARAH (CONT’D)
How do you think we stay under the
radar?
OSCAR
So there’s more than one of you.
SARAH
Yeah. Me and Leah. You see a blonde
bombshell with killer fashion, you
stay the hell away from her.
OSCAR
There’s more than one of you. I
can’t do this.
![Page 4: 29-33](https://reader038.vdocument.in/reader038/viewer/2022100802/577cce251a28ab9e788d724d/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
4.
SARAH
More than one in this city! Which
is strange cause we don’t play well
with others, but it’s not uncommon.
Just gotta talk to the right
people, fill out the right forms in
blood, et cetera. We have to give
each other space.
Oscar leans against the counter. Sarah thinks. She frowns.
She holds his shoulder.
SARAH
I make it sound worse than it is.
I’m just like you. Except I don’t
need to eat or sleep.
They both look at Sarah’s untouched plate.
SARAH (CONT’D)
Aww, you made me eggs. Sorry.
That’s not helping, is it?
OSCAR
No.
SARAH
We can make this work.
OSCAR
I don’t know if we should.
She clasps his hands with sincerity.
SARAH
We can make this work. It doesn’t
have to be complicated. Just ...
hanging out. And helping each other
out. Because I need you for all
this emotional stuff, I’m not used
to anything like this and I don’t
know what I’m doing, and I’m
scared. And you’re better when I’m
around, we both know it.
OSCAR
I’m scared, too.
SARAH
You don’t need to be afraid of me.
