MISSIONOur staff at Lakewood Counseling utilize an integrative approach to provide Behavioral Health Services to individuals and families and be an effective resource to the community for education and recovery.
Professional assessment, qualified treatment and evidence-based practices are the foundation of the services we provide.
SERVICES
MEDICATION SERVICESOur psychologists, nursing staff and counselors participate in a complete holistic screening for all our clients.
Our psychiatrists prescribe, monitor and educate parents and children about medication for treatment.
TRAUMA INFORMED COMMUNITYAlmost half the nation’s children have experienced at least one or more types of serious childhood trauma, according to a survey on adverse childhood experiences by the National Survey on Children’s Health (NHCS).
Children and adolescents who are exposed to traumatic events are screened for trauma exposure. Evidence-based practices are used to create a personalized treatment plan for each child.
With the help of families, friends, providers, and the community, children and youth can demonstrate resilience when dealing with trauma.
CHILD AND ADOLESCENT COUNSELINGOur goal is to help our clients establish good habits and healthy boundaries. We strive to help individuals determine the people they want to be right now and in the future.
SUPPORT SERVICES FOR CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES
PLAY THERAPYPlay Therapy is a strategy in which a child plays in a protected and structured environment with games and toys provided by a counselor. The counselor observes the child’s behavior, and as conflicts arise, the therapist guides the child to understand and work through the conflicts in a healthy manner.
AUTISM TREATMENT Autism disorders are characterized, in varying degrees, by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors.
Our psychiatrist and counselors have expertise in the evaluation and care of children with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities.
